The composition of this particular song is the reason why it's one of my favorites and one of the songs that pop into my head whenever I think of Steps. Too bad we can't get gems like these without triggering overly sensitive people anymore, even though it's not even making a mockery of anything and is showing the beauty of Chinese culture.
of course we all know Steps and their team mean well and never intended to mock Chinese culture, but they did misrepresent it.
I understand they wanted the dance and music video to have "Chinese elements" because of the song's riff but they could've had the choreography and music video done another way. As beautiful and visually pleasing both were, they just made no sense and connection whatsoever to the entire song (and Chinese culture isn't all kung-fu and dragons)
I even noticed some Thai and Cambodian elements to both the dance and mv which i'm 99% sure the team mistook it for Chinese, which is another point for their cultural appropriation
But seeing as how it was the 90s and Steps and their team (along with many many other people) probably didn't know much about what cultural appropriation is back then, i can let it slide
I still think the group sang and performed this very well
Lisa is of chinese descent (her great-grandfather, hence her surname Lee) after all so I'm sure she would have said something if there was anything wrong with this.

Lee is so attractive dancing here and his hair & clothes are perfect! Wish we could hear a remix with Faye leading the vocals, I love Claire's voice in this song but I've always been curious about how it would sound if Faye sang lead too

All lip syncing. That was allowed back then. It's illegal now. They do have live mics to scream out stuff in between the pre-recorded track. Now they sing live, and they are so good! No idea why they did so much lip sync, except to dance and move a lot
