The thing there is the execution, there is no boring part and very energetic, the transition is fast and clean they really deserve to be a champion. I’m a lumad baskanon fan.

zilam98 from basak, I’m fan of them since but this contingent from daan bantayan is wow! They 25% props and 75% performance which is really a good thing people will amaze with the energy and and moves. Clean choreography.
i still hold lumad basakanon (san nicolas) the benchmark when it comes to featuring actual dancing in their presentations, though i won't deny that i will hold FI contingents next year to daanbantayan's performance standard this year
zilam98 I want lumad to visualize a different concept that never seen before in FI category. Because they a lot of advantage among others, they have the skills, charisma. There dancers are really talented had really a true talent in dancing. But lumad this year is quite very common and natural don’t have much changes. But still there moves and the choreography is still wow. People know that one already. I want different from them. I love them much.
agreed! they have stagnated a bit on the concept part. the dancing is still there, but i want them to WOW people with a fresher take on their dancing
Now this is what we called Free Interpretation dance... An absolute clean-energetic performance which the dance alone is the very essence of what sinulog to all should have been, dili puro puro props kay wla man ta nag field demonstration lng ... these contingent deservingly at the top, it’s like witnessing Karatong performers way back with less exit from the dancers just to execute pure dance energy ... something fresh out of its simplicity so kudos to Daanbantayan Cebu
this is what sinulog organizers should focus when creating the mechanics for the contingents, and looking for judges that uphold the mechanics, particularly the dancing. ever since lumad basakanon of san nicolas slipped from the top of the FI category, the judging allowed contingents to devolve into teams of props management/choreography. very little in the way of actual dancing. "dancing" in the past few years has been relegated to mere running from one formation to the next because the contingents relied on the grandiosity of their costumes and props to win

Very deesrving win. Congratulations. Just the right balance of props and dance. The dancers energy looks the same and the props complements the dance and not the other way around.

I have never seen an FI contingent as clean as this one (I am open for suggestion, though). I appreciate that they did not bank on too much usage of props to add on aesthetics from the beginning to the middle. Most of the props came out at almost the end part and take note, they used their dancers to carry those props. Fast choregraphy, intricate steps but well-executed by the well-disciplined dancers. Kudos to the champion and all FI contingents this year! Its indeed a championship year for Cebuano Contingents!
was about to say the same thing! i really dislike how in the past years, winning contingents (including this one) relied heavily on props and pretty much minimized the "dancing" to mere running from one formation to the next. there's more dancing involved, similar to how san nicolas' lumad basakanon has been doing for years. i'm also glad to see that it's the dancers themselves holding the props toward the end, not having to use more prop holders just to that end. the sinulog organizers should change the mechanics of the contests to where non-dancing props holders are limited, and the actual dancing is given more emphasis/reward. granted, the props add so much visual interest, but the overall judging in the past years has allowed the general choreography of the contingents to mere props management
barangay san nicolas' lumad basakanon used to be the top performer of this caliber--less reliance on props, more on actual dance choreography. too bad they have stagnated over the past few years

Based on my observation, Lumad basakanon's flare for fresh choreography has become a household sinulog FI brand but because they have been using almost similar concept from year to year, the steppings, although intricate and different from their other performances, seem to look just the same. Another observation of mine is that Lumad over the years seems to be following a specific formula in their choreography. Perhaps the viewers have noticed that, too.Innovation must be done. New concepts must be shown. The dancers are already amazing as well as their steppings, but in my opinion, its time that they should remove the formula and bring something new on the table. Lumad Basakanon deserves a big come back next year. Although not on top this year, but still, they deserve our recognition.
True ... Lumad Basakanon had their prime for almost a decade sweeping other FI contingents here in Sinulog to Aliwan Festival, however pointing on the downside of Lumad in one particular is the ritual rhythm
that goes as well with the storyline to the drum-beat -> some parts to ALMOST are the SAME year after year, also the recycled costumes and props 😞 they really tried to escape from the judeges view perhaps it can grab again another winning streak but sad to say even from spectators view it’s no longer palatable and spectacular 😞 Lumad could have maintained their winning reputation by just skipping maybe a year or two in able for them to redefine their dance movements and come up with a surprising show ... now people to most were thinking they are just there for the money even just by landing in a lower position 😞 haaaay ., i really hope Lumad will get back on its feet as the Lumad we’ve known in the early 2000.

It was a very clean performance. The transition of each formation to carrying of props. Everything blended so well up to the very end of their performance. A very well-deserved win for Tribu Kandaya While watching the live streaming i have picked the top 4 for FI winners with Daan Bantayan on top of my list to win the grand prize. Wala nako naapil ang Lanao sa lista kay wala ko kita sa ilang performance. :)

Ito ang nawala sa Buyogan Festival, yong sayaw. More on Props sila, kaya parang ang sikip sikip na sa stage. Hindi na makita yong dance nila. Unlike before na balance ang props at sayaw nila then yong mga formations nila. Congrats to this group, as well as to the Buyogan Festival.
I totally agree! I once a Buyogan dancer, in fact, the very first group and we did more dancing then than the relying on the props! This team truly deserves the win!

Pagkakita nakos ilang performance, nakasulti jud ko MAO NA JUD NI ANG DAOG. Limpyo kaayo. wala naoverpower sa props ang sayaw. This performance reminds me so much of Himag-ulaw way back in 2011. Tribu Buyoganon sad to ang 2nd that year. hehe

Infer sa sayaw at props nabalanse nila..medyo magulo nga lang pero maganda, pagsumali sila sa Aliwan kailangan adjust nila ulit ang dance sequences at color of props kasi maliit lang ang performance area at madilim dun.
