LYRICS
Can you remember, remember my name?
As I flow through your life
A thousand oceans I have flown
Oh, and cold
Cold spirits of ice
Ah, ah, all my life
I am the echo of your past
I am returning, the echo of a point in time
And distant faces shine
A thousand warriors I have known
Oh, and laughing
As the spirits appear
All your, all your life
Shadows of another day
If you hear me talking on the wind
You've got to understand
We must remain
Perfect strangers
I know I must remain inside this silent well of sorrow
A strand of silver hanging through the sky
Touching more than you see
The voice of ages in your mind
Oh, is aching with the dead of the night
Oh, precious life
Your tears are lost in falling rain
And if you hear me talking on the wind
You've got to understand
We must remain
Perfect strangers

Detroit 5-8-87.
I have a piece of BLACKMORE'S GUITAR.
❤
April 2024. Still powerful as ever. This classic can ONLY be played beyond cranked. ❤
One of the best rock vocalist ever! Coming from a 69 year old metal head. 🤘
Anyone still listening in 2022? This song is nearly forty years old and still gives me goosebumps, quite simply a classic rock masterpiece.
you bet, the "crap" of today will last about 40 days...
Absolutely, I'm still listening on 1-25-2022. Great song to start another year, and another year, and another year.........*

You are not alone !!!!!
@@ape2reginaforse504 Nope, not even close. Many, many folks very much like Deep Purple. I always thought DP was outstanding. DP's Machine Head Album is incredibly good......... Thumbs-Up!! *
Blackmore is one of the greatest guitar players of all time. His style is unique and utterly amazing.
Hell yes, I love Highway Star and the solo is a masterpiece.
Anyone in 2024
I consider this Deep Purples best song. Because it has a heavy beat, heavenly guitar, and it's just a kick ass song.
This and Stormbringer are probably my favourite Deep Purple and gives a nod to both Ian Gillan and David Coverdale's stint with the band. That being said the beginning of Child In Time Ian Gillan's vocals give me chills.
This song is crazy fucking good 😮
Ian Gillan - lead vocals
Ritchie Blackmore - guitar
Jon Lord - organ, keyboards
Roger Glover - bass, synthesizer
Ian Paice - drums
So many fond memories. Thanks for the awesome music.
I use to say "THE GOLDEN FIVE" !!!!..........
😍😍😍
@Panos Xaitagian - the next Golden Five was Blackmore on lead guitar, Ronnie James Dio lead vocals, Tony Carey on keyboards, Cozy Powell on his double bass drum kit and Jimmy Bain on bass guitar forming Rainbow after DP broke up - their Rising album is fakking brilliant!
@Northern Wealth Anarchy Perimeter
I agree!!!
thanks really
Mr Ritchie Blackmore is true genius...
And the John Lord...R.I.P.
Deep Purple is the perfect storm.
It's JON Lord, why is it so difficult for some to understand that?
@ Clive - give Stamatis a break. I wonder how you'd go with Greek spelling and pronunciation?
Hey..it's nothing to do with Greek spelling and pronunciation you moron
It's the name of a very famous musician, which if he is a fan of the band, he must have seen in print many times.
It's a 3 letter word for fucks sake, not really difficult whatever your nationality.
Notice he spelt Ritchie Blackmore perfectly, but couldn't manage the same with JON?
I put it down to ignorance rather than language difference.
You put your head back up your ass and go back to sleep now.
+Clive Bindley Are you a psycho? We don't care about his name!Respect someone who listening deep purple,so you"go fuck"!

61 years old. I've listened to purple since 1967. One of two greatest ever. Timeless.
Hush
@jonathan deavey thank you Jonathan. I stand corrected. It was a long time ago and I sometimes get it wrong. You are obviously a real fan of purple. Rock on!
@jonathan deavey he listened to it at a gig in 67 before it was recorded in studio. now shut up jonathan.
Famous ....
The other is... Zeppelin?
One of the greatest of all time. These guys are true musical geniuses.
I think your right.
Ritchie ❤️
Great 4 all.
This is just about as good as it gets...Classic
Hey
Jon Lord gave Deep Purple its cool hip distinctive sound. And paved the way for what we know now as the synthesizer being the most important instrument in a band. The front and center of it all. Jon Lord was the grandfather of DJ's.
And then Rush came out. They also work with synth esp Geddy Lee
Bernie Worrell. Lord mostly used Organs. Both are incredibly influential, but Worrell is tip top. Synth basslines and synth focused music came from him
One of the best comeback albums of all time. Glad Blackmore and Gillian put their egos aside for a while.
I always thought Gillian’s voice was one of the best rock voices ever.
It is and always will be
That's because it is.
Yes, definitely.
And, growing up with both "Made in Japan" AND "Made in Europe", I also fell in LOVE 💕 with The Voice of The Singer of "You Fool No One!" 😊 on that Amazing Live Album!, David Q. Coverdale, VIII 😳 😊--with that Deep, Rich, And Wonderfully **Soulful Voice!** 😊
I also Enjoy and Highly Recommend Deep Purple's 🟣💜 studio album, "Burn!" 👏 👏 👏
... with the only Caveat with All of this being that I Usually Can't Stand Glenn Hughes's Screaming voice.
For example, when David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes sing duets--with Glenn Hughes taking the high voice--I AM ALMOST ALWAYS **GREATLY ANNOYED BY HUGHES'S SCREAMING!** 😡
@@bluewater3783oh yeah, Coverdale has an amazing voice as well and was a perfect replacement for Gillian. I do find it funny that Coverdale had to go and mess with his face back in the 80s, he went from boyish charm to old man trying to look young. But his voice stayed on point!
Ian Gilkan and Ronnie James Dio had THE best voices
Deep Purple, Rainbow, Uriah Heep, Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin...Still, the music of a generation fills the air and ears.

Out of all of the 70's bands that had comebacks in the 80's this one was the most surprising to me. I'm glad they put the differences aside and gave us this classic. Definitely a highlight of the 80's.

Purple MK2 , surely one of the greatest rock collaborations ever.
One of the most underrated songs/albums ever. Deep Purple pioneered, and wrote the book on, melodic hard-rock. There is no other.
@MisterG I can't think of any in that melodic hard rock style prior to Purple

Deep Purple - strongest and most professional band ever!
I'm 58 and enjoying there music all my life...
I was intruded to hard rock at the age of 14 by a friend who found "In Rock" in his older brother's record collection. It blew me away, and changed my life forever.
I was unbelievably excited to hear that the MkII lineup was reforming in 1983-84 and I was at Knebworth to see them in 1985. I saw them play a number more times at Wembley, the Brixton Academy in '93, and then Jones Beach in 2002, and three times on their farewell tour at Bristow, VA, Charlotte, NC and Atlanta, GA, and was pleased to be able to take my 11 year old daughter to the Atlanta show in 2018. ... But they were never the same after Ritchie left.
They was .. along with other bands. That played musical notes for the mind

Love this song. An actual proper masterpiece. The feel, the melody, the riffs, the vocals, the swirling organ, that pounding beat.... genius. 🤘😎🤘
