Just like this dog Maya & her brother, there's many and many other animals caged, tourchered, killed for their body parts.
And this happens worldwide, someone gives excuses in the name of God, some culture, some habit and some out of pleasures.

Maya is so beautiful and so blessed! We adopted a 7 yr old bear dog that had spent her entire life on a piece of 20ft clotheseline. When she first saw our large, fenced yard and realized it was all for her, she went NUTS! Total zoomies running as hard as she could. Rolling in the grass. It was so wonderful to see her so happy. We let her watch as we threw away the clothesline she came with. She seemed to understand she was finally free. We only had her for 4 years before she passed from cancer but she was so happy. I miss her

I cannot adequately express my respect and appreciation to you for the compassion, even more, tipping the scales towards the good on our planet. Dogs give us companionship, therapy, love us no matter what our status in life, whether we are having a bad or good days, the constancy and complete dedication, all for giving them love, food, and sharing shelter.
Thank you for sharing this, and for saving Maya. The dog meat trade (I can barely bring myself to type that) is an abhorrent abomination that needs to be put to a stop immediately. It breaks my heart, too. Again, thank you for this. I'm really glad I found this channel.
They treat cats the same. It is bad enough we eat meat but its the sheer cruelty of how they treat them six to a cage trapped and terrified. I fucking hate them. I don't care about judging a culture etc. when it's so bloody cruel and sick.
It's not just the dog meat trade that is horrific. All animal farming on an industrial scale (pigs, chickens, cows, etc) is all equally horrifying.
You cannot find that abhorrent while scarfing down other animals.

That woman is so wonderful but it was her dogs who really helped Maya to open up quickly. And I am so relieved to know her brother was adopted to a loving family too. Those sick things who kept her and her brother in a cage well I hope they get theirs in the end.

And yet no one bats an eye when it comes to slaughtering cows, calves, pigs, and chickens. No, they aren’t any different. You were just conditioned to think it’s okay to slaughter one but not the other.
Asia? Way to generalize. It was a Korean rescue that literally saved her and her brother. Overwhelming majority of Asians do NOT eat dog meat, nor do they support the practice which is why there are so many rescues like K-9 trying to save these animals. Russia, the US, Canada and Mexico are among the biggest producers of horse meat in the world.

Yes for dogs like maya give them their own little space and for the love of god have patience as maya shows it can take awhile for a dog to accumulate to a proper home but the length of time varies between dogs

Same reason people eat cow, pigs and chickens. It's meat. I wouldn't eat dogs or cats either cause I think of them as companions, but all animals can be that. It's just culture and mindset in the end

i have been to countries were dog is a normal food.
the issue is in my mind, that whatever animals are livestock they should be treated with the respect and kindness that something you need as a resource to live deserves. in the west farmers treat livestock very kindly as a general rule. but in the east.. not so much. but this is across the whole range of animals. im not condoning it at all
im just saying the dogs are treated the same as the cows and pigs they eat
there needs to be livestock reforms. but ive run against a lot of resistance in many asian cultures accepting animals as something worthy of respect. especially livestock..
See, my problem with eating dogs in particular is that we specifically bred them to be emotionally intelligent, expressive, and communicative companions. To then turn around and treat them like livestock, stuck in a cramped cage without affection or interaction until they’re killed for meat, it just strikes me as a particular kind of cruelty. And yes, I get that pigs are similarly intelligent, but we didn’t go out of our way as a species to develop a cooperative and emotional bond with them like we did for dogs.

The West is not better than "the East". The way we hold cows, pigs, and chickens is disgusting. The cage we saw in the video was far larger than what most livestock gets in the oh so kind West.
Sure, there are farms that are changing their ways or that are based on organic farming and animal husbandry, but that is far from the norm.

Dogs used to be work animals and tools, too. Sure, they became companions, because we treated them with respect in the end, but that same thing can go for any other working animal.
Cows have best friends, pigs are as intelligent as small children, chickens can get as excited to see their humans as any dog.
Most animals can form emotional bonds with us and other animals. Just because dogs were given the chance, doesn't mean we should treat them as above the rest.
Don't get me wrong, I hate how the dogs were kept in this video. This is something I don't want for any livestock. I just think you're being kinda unfair

I know it's easy to get stuck in our own ways of thinking and doing things. So sometimes when we hear of people eating animals we think of as pets, it's hard to understand.
I try to always bear in mind that my ideas and knowledge of the world is limited. And just because I don't understand how others live, doesn't mean I'm right and they are wrong.
That being said, I'm glad Maya has a chance to enjoy her life with a loving family

APK, Many of us do according to our possibilities and it's so heartwarming to get their love! They're much, much better than the cowardly "humans" who attack and destroy innocent beings.
APK, We rescued a hamster who would run to her cage's door when she would hear me calling it, it would take naps on my shoulder and run around in my bedroom, it was an amazing, lovely experience.
What I meant was that dogs are thought of as food in some countries and we find that offensive. Could we please be offended by all meat industries? Cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens and other non-human animals are just like dogs and cats. They feel pain, love, fear and bond with their families.
