@@natepearson9804 Yeah, but are they *alien* linebackers? Also, I'm pretty sure a direct hit from Reach's 40mm killed them, but 40mm is a lot different from .50 AE.
Gotta say, not many weapons in Halo 5 actually feel too useless or too powerful, it really does seem to be balanced and I find myself using pretty much all of them even in Multiplayer
@@AscendHyperion Better than the one guy picking everyone off with the BR in H2 or H3. It's nice being able to beat a BR with another weapon if you know how to use it
I agree. I prefer the more balanced sandboxes personally, but in these videos I try my best to avoid equating things as bad or good for the franchise. I just try to tell it as it is.
That’s one of the reasons i find halo 5 so fun, it has the most varied and to my taste most balanced weapon sandbox out of any halo game, not a single weapon is useless and every one is different and fun, all past guns that were ultra dominant like the br or useless like the supressor are now pretty balanced and can coexist.
I still miss the Magnums from CE and ODST. CE really made it feel less like a pistol and more of a hand-cannon with its range and damage against vehicles. ODST had a more tactical purpose, with it being weak against shields and health but its firing speed kills quick with head shots.
I especially liked how Halo 5 included different versions of the Magnum that suit different playstyles, like the slow-firing but more accurate silenced version compared with the fast-firing, less accurate Gunfighter version
Something that I really liked about the 343i magnums was that they were given a faster draw speed compared to the other weapons, which by adding that feature alone, gave the mag a role as the go to noob combo weapon
H5 is definitely the most fun magnum since CE ODST was good HR and H4 were solid but not great H2 was eh and H3 was miserable Hoping Infinite brings back the H5 magnum alongside the sidekick
I think in Halo 3's case, it's a matter of functionally every non-power weapon other than the Battle Rifle being trash. The M6C in Halo 2 was at least useful (and in my opinion a lot of fun) if you played it right. It felt like its own weapon. Halo 3's magnum just felt like a punishment.
The magnum is far more iconic to me than any other halo weapon. It’s the first gun you receive in halo CE, and it made it’s presence known. While the new color system was what broke the camel’s back. The loss of the magnum is one of the many reasons I’m done with halo as a franchise.
Ben Gress to me it looks over designed, something like the halo reach, the ODST and most of the halo 4 magnum is a lot more simple, but still cool looking
It is my opinion that a good Halo game requires a starting weapon that can hold its own against the all the other weapons if used skillfully. CE magnum, H2 BR, H5 Magnum are the best examples.
On the one hand, people want the Magnum to be good because we have fond memories of Halo CE when we were younger. However, on the other hand, it makes sense that it should be a second tier weapon.
9:03 "the magnum is the only gun to be included into every halo game." Halo infinite: 😔 Sidekick I great and a lot of fun, but I'll miss many of the old classic weapons that were removed. removed.
I love and hate the Halo 5 magnum. I love it because it's great. It's a weapon that just works as intended to be. But I hate it, because with this weapon, no one uses the others. You have anything you need with the magnum. Some people don't even change with a rocket launcher or a DMR. It's a weapon you are forced to use, and it's not exactly the easier to master in game. The use of this weapon in social made the matches quite stressful sometimes, which I wished 343 made rotational primary weapons, maybe AR and DMR, for example. Which is why I appreciate the change of form in Infinite. For what I've seen so far, it's a mix of Halo Reach magnum and the Halo 5: Bloom, but more precise weapon, with a rapid bullet fire. The magnum isn't probably going to be as important as in Halo 5, but I feel like it's going to be great for short range. And I'm glad of this direction. Now I'm only worried for the BR to get the Halo 3 treatment with the burst spread.
Wasnt the CE magnum a mistake?. I remember that in a interview one of the devs at bungie explained that he introduced a line of code when loading any map to double its damage
I do think the H5 Magnum is almost too good. It's ironic, because I do think it's balanced, but it's so well balanced and the fact that you start with it in every game means you have to be good at it. And with other aspects of H5 skill requirements, it can make mastering the Magnum feel like the only thing that really matters. I hope Infinite can make some tweaks that make using other weapons a little more appealing.
Yep , in fact in competitive you need to be a master of the weapon otherwise you were fucked, it wasn’t balanced if you knew how to use it it was better than all precision weapons.
H5 lightrifle was a beast. High damage and great range with lower firerate. But when not scoped in kept its damage but doubled the firerate. Ive gotten so many kills with it lol
As much as I love and miss dual-wielding, I understand the benefits of having it removed. However, I hope that looking at the approach Halo 5 has taken introducing the largest array of weapons (Even if most are stat tweaks and cosmetic) dual-welding could probably be reintroduced in the same way. With dual-wielding weapons being a single pickup. (Not dissimilar to COD...) But still. Embracing the H5 Magnum and the HaloCE magnum into Halo 5, I always thought "why not introduce the H2 dual pistols as an option?"
I feel Bungie always has issues balancing meta. In Halo we saw them destroy the magnum and then attempt to redeem themselves (ultimately, 343i were the ones to make a balanced meta, not bungie) and in Destiny & Destiny 2, they often rework the meta every few months because suddenly something's come out on top. I wasn't around for the Fallen King's release but apparently the meta change there was incredibly bad and destroyed part of the playability with some of the weapons from D1. In D2, the meta in PvP has been shotguns and snipers (and swords for 3rd person peeping round corners) since I can remember and you have almost no chance if you don't deploy with those weapons. Bungie comes up with good ideas but they seem to often be at a loss for how to actually implement those ideas into a system that doesn't make one thing too powerful or too weak.
Now, in fairness. The Bungie that made Halo and the Bungie that made Destiny were basically two different companies. Many people dont realize alot of what we know as "Bungie" actually just moved to 343 post Halo Reach. But that being said, it does make it even more funny that Destiny has some of the worst PvP balance of two gaming generations now. It's kinda insane how hyperbolically bad the balance quality is in those games.
I personally think there shouldn't be all-out-weapons like the Halo CE/5 Magnum or the Br and DMR from the other games to make weapons like the Plasma rifle/Assault rifle/ect. worth using in Multiplayer.
Halo 5 def got the closest to this idea. But meta will always exist. In Halo the devs take steps to install a guided meta but in COD for example the players will derive a meta themselves regardless.
You're right, I just did a test in CE. If you removed the Magnum, there wouldn't be any real counters against power weapons besides power weapons. And if you removed all power weapons then the Plasma rifle would become the new meta. Halo will always have one all-out weapon in some way, shape or form.
This isn't a comment about which Halo game is better than the other, but I really appreciate Halo 5's weapon sandbox. Every weapon feels viable to use. Some complain that it makes the weapons feel less unique and too lethal, but I kind of prefer it to Halo 3's where a lot of weapons have their own niches but are useless when put against the BR. Every weapon sandbox is going to have a standout weapon, but I don't really like how Bungie's games tended to have one central weapon to rule them all (CE magnum, BR for 2 and 3, DMR for Reach). People think the magnum has outclassed the other precision weapons, and while that's kind of true, they're still viable options that can beat the magnum in a gunfight if you play right. 5's multiplayer has its problems (repetitive map design, less varied aesthetic, inflated map sizes), but the weapon sandbox is a solid foundation that I hope Infinite builds upon.
I would say, that with ODST, the Magnum Renaissance would have the Magnum finding it's place as the go to sidearm, rather than a primary. The silenced SMG was meant to be the primary means to take down brute shields, followed by a quick headshot from the Magnum. I'd imagine this reasoning is why in ODST there were no BRs. In Reach, the DMR and Magnum were what and what in performance as far as I could tell for the most part. But because of the higher capacity in the DMR I found myself reaching for a different gun as my backup to fill a different role. If no DMR was present, then sure, the pistol was adequate, but not outright superior to the DMR. In Halo 4, I feel like that is where ODST left off as far as bringing the Magnum back into the spotlight, but not as a primary weapon. It served fantastic as a quick draw back up that complimented most starting long guns. Usually if found in an adverse scenario, when the BR ran dry in the middle of an engagement, I would rather have the Magnum as my secondary because it drew quickly and was capable of quick, precision shooting in a pinch. I've had countless engagements where the Magnum saved my tail or a teammate when my BR or DMR ran dry. Speaking of, the BR, DMR, and Magnum all felt that they filled particular, clearly defined roles in the Halo 4 sandbox. Where all 3 were great in particular scenarios and had minimal overlap into the others. The Magnum felt great at close quarters as a standalone precision weapon. The BR carried tremendous suppressive and accurate firepower and covered close to moderate ranges in an open area. The DMR felt great at moderate to long ranges and was capable, but not preferred at closer engagements. With the BR the Magnum was a great backup, and with the DMR it complimented beautifully by having close range covered. In Halo 5, I would concur that the Magnum would take back the throne that the OG once held. In many encounters I've found that the Magnum was my go to even before my BR, being quick and powerful to help keep me on my toes and alive. All said and done, ODST and 4 I would say placed the Magnum in a category that it should have been all along: the go to backup. Unsurprisingly, just like reality. I understand that Halo is a fantastical take on our future, but the weaponry still hold real world equivalency. Would I go to war with a desert eagle chambered in 50AE as my primary, with a m14 strapped to my back? Most likely not. It would be most likely the M14 as my primary with probably a full size semi auto in 9mm with 17+ round capacity as a backup, or 10mm with high capacity as well for a little extra bang perhaps. Besides, who would want to carry and shoot dozens or hundreds of rounds of a cartridge very close in dimensions to the 500 s&w Magnum or 50 beowulf. If you could even wrap your hands around a grip that large to accommodate such a massive cartridge
I’m pretty sure the reason why the H5 magnum is so dominant in competitive play is that the BR and DMR were both nerfed in the infamous balancing patch. After that patch, the magnum consistently did better than those two options at more reasonable fighting ranges, so the need to switch wasn’t there anymore
Focus is on loadout weapons, and around Halo 3, the PP fell off as a weapon for loadout in default modes and in games like Halo 3, Reach and Halo 5 the PP is moreso a utility class weapon. Another way to dial it in is that the Plasma Pistol is reliant on a damage gimmick. The gun itself isn't really for actual general fights.
Man... as much as I love reach, and so many halo titles, I cant stop hating that strange slightly below center reticle. It just messes with my brain, and I cant play the game the same ever again.
The magnum was probably its worse in 2 but at its best in reach and ce but for different reasons. In Ce being the main precision weapon allowed it to define the meta but despite the dominance have a stronger understanding of CE meant it wasn’t not the end all be all in every situation. In reach having a better percussion weapon made the magnum a less viable weapon but one where skill allowed people to excel despite the disadvantage. The 5 magnum seems to be extremely redundant, it’s function as a meta contender sits in a bloated sandbox. Between the carbine and BR the magnum is so close to how it was in CE but now that it’s not the only precision gun it undermines the use of other weapons due to its performance and being the spawn gun. people of similar skill with the magnum versus any other precision gun is no longer about beating the odds and more just another gunfight with weapons chosen out of an availability rather then skill.
Sure magnum fans may rejoice, but the H5 magnum changes the way balance has been in every Halo besides CE (which was not balanced well.) You could argue the H5 magnum is superior to all other precision weapons. It has a 40 meter unscoped RRR which surpasses everything but the DMR which has slower kill time. Considering the average range of lanes in H5 maps the magnum may actually be the best all around precision weapon. I don't believe this is a good thing for a weapon you start with.
It was Magazine Size/Lack of sufficient Mags, the prevalence of Hostile Precision Weapons, and the scarcity of UNSC Ammunition in the Campaign as a whole that killed the Magnum. Bringing its Damage back up to the Original Level wouldn't hurt either. As much as Anything Else was the Prevalence of Jackal Snipers, which the Magnum lacks the Range to Safely Kill. The DMR can also almost Snipe Enemies, and makes the Magnum and BR almost Interchangeable (Magazine Size/Spare Ammo makes the BR just a Bit more Useful here).
Also, upon review of in-game assets, halo 2 anniversary actually has 12.1 automatic printed on the slide, not 12.7. Which would indicate a smaller cartridge. The 12.1 Auto In Halo 3, the low poly count makes it hard to distinguish if it is 12.1 or 12.7. but, the third digit looks different than the first, so I'm guessing it is a 7. Making halo 3 shoot 12.7 Auto Halo 2, like 3, is hard to distinguish, but is printed either 12.7 or 12.1 automatic. Judging by the 1 on the 12, the last digit actually looks like a 7. Making this a 12.7 Auto as well The ammo packets in Halo CE fortunately indicate 12.7x40 And in Halo 5, all Magnums also indicate 12.7x40 In Halo 4 the Magnum actually does not feature any manufacturing markings. But considering it is the same or almost the same submodel as halo 5, I would feel comfortable with saying that Halo 4 uses the 12.7x40mm Halo Reach uses the same submodel M6 as halo 3 in canon, making it a 12.7 Auto as well. In short, it looks like there are actually 2, maybe 3 cartridges for the Magnum across all the games. 12.7x40mm 12.7 automatic 12.1 automatic There is a possibility that the 12.7 Auto and the 12.7x40mm are to very different cartridges, specifically in length. For the sake of cannon, we could argue that the 12.7 Auto could be closer to the 50AE, or 12.7x33. And the 12.1 Auto of H2A could be closer to the .475 wildey Magnum, or 12.1x30 The closest real world equivalents to Halo's 12.7x40 would be the 500 S&W 500 Magnum, or 12.7x41, and the 50 beowulf, or 12.7x42 To further the point, "the art of halo 3" apparently features an image of a cartridge used by the M6, and a description with the measurements of 12.7mmx30. If this info is to be taken to account, then certainly the 12.7 Auto is the same as the 12.7mmx30. A smaller, and weaker cartridge than the 12.7mmx40 seen in other games where the Magnum is significantly stronger. The same could be presumed for H2A's 12.1 Auto as well. An overall smaller and weaker cartridge.
Its a darn shame that the last balance patch that 5 got made it so the magnum just steamrolls over pretty much everything and it's not really worth picking up anything more than power weapons, it's basically CE 2.0
There was also the Anniversary game types for Halo Reach, which, in addition to not having loadouts nor armor abilities as well as increasing some movement options, modified the Magnum to act more like the Halo CE Magnum, having a three headshot kill time. This is because when Halo CEA launched originally on Xbox 360 it didn't come with the original multiplayer, rather it's multiplayer was Halo Reach, both as part of the Halo CEA disc and as a Halo Reach map pack called the "Anniversary Map Pack". I don't think these game types were added to Halo MCC's Reach, though.
They were. And the CE magnum stands out HARD in the Reach sandbox. The DMR becomes useless - even in Zero Bloom the DMR's increased accuracy and red reticle range have solid usability.
Well IMO if they want to switch the mechanics and especially damage up they shouldn't call it a magnum, so I think they made the right choice. The halo 2 magnum would've been better off with a different name. It's just more recognisable as a pickup name so I get why they did it.
The fact that they do not share the same names and like the bulldog not functioning the same you'd think that's them saying it's not a replacement, it's an alternative, I think they want to see how these weapons work in the game before adding the old ones back to better defined the new weapons rolls
Halo 5 was the first Halo to introduce multiple types of loadout magnum variants. The Base Magnum, The Tactical Magnum & Gunfighter Magnum! Do you want: Jack of all trades? Increased fire rate for slightly decreased damage and range? More range and suppressed for stealthy play style? We got you covered!
Well, to start discussing all the magnum variants in Halo 5 would have really dragged this particular video out and away from the core topic. But don't worry, Halo 5 having a full Magnum family is in the content pipeline :)
I can't believe I'm saying this but I've done a 180 on Infinite's Sidekick - I actually like that we're having a change from H5 gameplay: it looks like the pistol is now going to be an actual sidearm and not competing with the BR/DMR and I'm cool with that. I'm really looking forward to playing with a fresh new sandbox in Infinite and not one that feels too safe or derivative. In hindsight, Halo has always been about bold new gameplay changes, and I'm happy 343 aren't just playing it safe.
"the only weapon to appear in every FPS Halo" along with the sniper rifle, shotgun, plasma pistol, plasma and frag grenades, rocket launcher, plasma rifle, and needler...
You nailed it. I am sad infinite will not continue the trend and cement the Halo 5 as a successor to the Halo 1 Magnum. We will just keep going one step back and one step forward it seems.
What about the Assault Rifle? It’s been there for every halo and stayed virtually the same but tweaked in damage and sound. Even infinite has it. Halo 3 AR did suck though.
So I watched one of your videos and talked shit, but now I can't stop watching you and the fact that you hit me with a jcole reference. Okay buddy, you got yourself a sub.
I love the Halo CE magnum, but I could do without it in every future Halo game. I think both functionally and aesthetically it fits perfectly with CE, but replacing it with the BR in future games made having it redundant. The UNSC handguns haven't been enjoyable to use from H2 till H5. That being said, I cannot stand the Halo 5 meta. The BR kinda sucks and the magnum has become THE precision weapon of the game. It's too good, it's super fast and accurate there's no point swapping it out unless you're playing Warzone.
H5 magnum do feel nice. Since reach, the magnum was going back to being a usable weapon, what 343i did to weapons especially the magnum makes the sandbox balanced.
Something about this vid made me really wanna play some halo 5 but I literally don’t have the drive space or download speed to put it on my Xbox for that 😂
I still prefer the halo reach style in the sandbox then halo 5's. It worked like how a sidearm should, the best defence when you have nothing else, and unlike halo 2 and 3 where even just meleeing your enemies was better, the magnum would still work as a viable weapon, and in Halo 5 the magnum and the DMR were a little too similar, so either replace the DMR with the magnum, or make the magnum like it was in reach. P.S. I think the SPV3 magnum is the best out of all of those.
Halo 5 magnum, imo, is actually really spicy 😅 has a nice kick and punch to it, especially in slayer. I'm not usually a fan of semis that arnt hair trigger, but it's actually really fun ngl
I honestly only wanted to play Halo 5 just because of the magnum. It's powerful again, the aesthetics are (in my humble opinion) the best of all magnums, you can give it an 18 round magazine, there isn't anything I can't like about it. But I haven't played Halo 5 because I'm more of a PC guy. Lol
H4 magnum was consistentenly good enough, i've always been a magnum main since CE, Reach brought it back into a building ground, H4 keep it good enough and H5 hone it.
@@AscendHyperion Though the BR is certainly the most common starting weapon, and competitive play used the BR for it's load out. But in Big Team you're far more likely to see DMRs for obvious reasons. And in vanilla the DMR was super dominant, before the BR was patched to a 4 shot kill instead of 5.
Great vid. I think you overstate how well it works in Halo 5 though. The gun is too good. The magnum has become the go-to weapon. Wasn't this the problem with the HCE mag? Also, it's important to note that 343 has stated that the magnum will not be in Halo Infinite.
I think it’s so well balanced to where it is the go too weapon. Not because it’s too powerful cause it still takes like 3 to 4 shots to the head to kills someone and around 5 to 7 maybe to the body. I have the Superior TargetMaster skin for my Magnum and I think I’m decent at it I really don’t think it’s overpowered though.
Hard disagree. Your description of how the Halo 5 magnum works with the rest of the sandbox may have been true at launch, but after the weapon rebalancing that happen a few years ago it changed dramatically. The magnum is essentially the only weapon you see in 4v4 games. Players will grab rockets or sniper on occasion, but I see very limited usage of any other utility weapons like the AR, BR, Carbine, DMR, Light Rifle, SMG, Suppressor, Storm Rifle, Brute Plasma, etc... The H5 magnum feels great to shoot and is very consistent, but I despise what it did to the Halo 5 sandbox. One of the things I love about Halo is seeing players use a variety of weapons in different scenarios, so any weapon that takes over 95% of gunfights is an absolute blight to me. I find myself wanting to swap for other weapons on the map but then realize I'm making myself weaker if I do so. Honestly I'll be glad to move away from this type of magnum again. I don't want Infinite MP to feel like Halo 5 all over again. Hopefully we don't see the same thing there with a different weapon.
@@AntiCaesarReal I agree that those are used a lot in those games, but I still feel that there are more viable replacements for the BR/DMR than the H5 magnum. It's especially an issue when there are BRs, DMR's, Carbines, etc... on the maps but the magnum you spawn with outclasses them in almost every circumstance. It kind of invalidates them. I'm actually glad that BTB does BR starts and has the other weapons as on map pickups, even though the H5 BR is pretty terrible after the update.
I don't understand what happened with the br in h5. It's literally worse than the magnum in just about every way except magazine size. It's really dumb.
Why does Halo fans always mix up the Magnum against the pistol which was the name of the gun in Halo CE. The Magnum was a completely different gun in Halo 2 of the pistol hence the name "Magnum" Magnum is different to the Pistol The M6D PISTOL is the BEST HANDGUN OF ALL TIME IN HALO HISTORY In Halo Infinite the "sidekick" is basically the Halo 2 Magnum and IS NOT THE PISTOL!! 3 different guns 👈
The magnum is not the only weapon to appear in every Halo fps... The Sniper, Shotgun, Rocket Launcher, Plasma Pistol, and Needler did as well. And I'd argue the Needler, and Plasma Pistol have both been changed as drastically throughout the franchise as the magnum has. The Magnum has been a far more central point of interest for it's changes though.
@@AscendHyperion The Plasma Pistol has been a loadout weapon in two Halo titles. CE when using default weapons on several maps, and 4. If you want to count invasion than I could say 3 titles but I won't stretch.
The magnum did not deserve what it got in Halo 2 and 3, but I do think that nerfs of some sort were neccasary because a sidearm doesn't make sense as a primary weapon. For Halo 2 Bungie should have just reworked the Magnum into a rifle in order to preserve its power in a more realistic fashion.
The magnum should be the closest range precision weapon with crazy fire rate wnd fast reload time but inaccurate. I like the balance of Reach and halo 4 magnum. Halo 1 magnum, 5 are too strong. 2,3 are useless. All guns should be as unique and try to fill as niche as possible so they are all different. For precision weapons, BR should be the all-round, easiest to use and middle in range. DMR should be the longest range but has slower kill time than BR if fight at BR optimum range. Carbine should be a very spammable like the magnum with higher mag size with accuracy (no recoil and bloom) and slightly better kill time (becuase magnum is a side arm and this is a primary gun.). The light rifle i dont know since 343 ran out of ideas and just made it a half DMR, half BR. No idea how to make it more niche for this one. Maybe make it a half sniper half precision. 2 shots to down shield with very slow fire rate and even more range than DMR. Could make the kill time better than DMR while scoped and bring the descoping on shot back (or at least for this weapon) and make unscoped shots really weak.
I agree with Halo 2 and Halo 3 magnum being useless but Halo 5? Nah can’t find myself to agree to that especially considering that the gun I get 90% of my kills from with my awesome Superior TargetMaster skin. Lol I’m just joking not flexing on you
......can we talk about how hilariously unintuitive having a pistol, being a "meta gun" is for a moment??? a pistol, a weapon that in any relevant combat application is always relegated to a side arm, a weapon of last resort, a weapon you go to when your PRIMARY weapon is out and you need something NOW.... a pistol in every way, including visual design tells a player, "I am your back up gun". it is always in your secondary slot, it is visually a smaller gun, it is only semi-auto, compared to it's full auto and burst fire counter parts... essentially in every way the pistol is extremely unintuitive for new players.

Something that I really liked about the 343i magnums was that they were given a faster draw speed compared to the other weapons, which by adding that feature alone, gave the mag a role as the go to noob combo weapon
H5 is definitely the most fun magnum since CE
ODST was good
HR and H4 were solid but not great
H2 was eh and H3 was miserable
Hoping Infinite brings back the H5 magnum alongside the sidekick

Halo 5 has the best sandbox and weapon variety. All weapons have a purpose and its awesome
The loss of the magnum is one of the many reasons I’m done with halo as a franchise.
the pistol in halo 3 can actually kill something on legendary,
I personally love the H5 design the most. The modularity is most appealing.
Ben Gress to me it looks over designed, something like the halo reach, the ODST and most of the halo 4 magnum is a lot more simple, but still cool looking
Halo reach or halo 3 for me.
Agreed I think it’s staying at its Futuristic pistol look while also looking fairly simple like a normal gun

Nah Halo CE PISTOL IS LIFE!!! 😍
It is my opinion that a good Halo game requires a starting weapon that can hold its own against the all the other weapons if used skillfully. CE magnum, H2 BR, H5 Magnum are the best examples.

fun fact: the magnum in lore fires .50 SAP-HE rounds.
On the one hand, people want the Magnum to be good because we have fond memories of Halo CE when we were younger. However, on the other hand, it makes sense that it should be a second tier weapon.

Yeah I was confused too! Perhaps he meant unsc weapons only. 😅
Halo CE is NOT the Magnum its called the M6D Pistol! Completely different Handguns!!
@@MasterChief117HQ the m6 series IS the magnum.

It’s in the same spot that Ana is in Overwatch, they’re balanced but in a spot where they are so reliable that they’re always the first choice often.
I have the Superior TargetMaster skin for the magnum and I am so proud of myself for that, I can actually say I’m good at the Halo 5 Magnum
Yep , in fact in competitive you need to be a master of the weapon otherwise you were fucked, it wasn’t balanced if you knew how to use it it was better than all precision weapons.
True, that thing outguns ANYTHING, i mean like if you have any-other weapon a guy the a magnum can get you even quicker
@@kaisimmons504 even a carbine?
H5 lightrifle was a beast. High damage and great range with lower firerate. But when not scoped in kept its damage but doubled the firerate. Ive gotten so many kills with it lol
In my opinion a perfect kill with the Halo 5 magnum is the most satisfying way to kill enemies across all halo titles
I like it when a pistol is good because pistols are my favorite fps weapon
As much as I love and miss dual-wielding, I understand the benefits of having it removed. However, I hope that looking at the approach Halo 5 has taken introducing the largest array of weapons (Even if most are stat tweaks and cosmetic) dual-welding could probably be reintroduced in the same way. With dual-wielding weapons being a single pickup. (Not dissimilar to COD...) But still. Embracing the H5 Magnum and the HaloCE magnum into Halo 5, I always thought "why not introduce the H2 dual pistols as an option?"
I think a "special" pair of duel wielded gunfighter magnums as power weapons can work
I feel Bungie always has issues balancing meta.
I personally think there shouldn't be
all-out-weapons like the Halo CE/5 Magnum or the Br and DMR from the other games to make weapons like the Plasma rifle/Assault rifle/ect. worth using in Multiplayer.
Halo CE was not balanced well. That doesn't mean the magnum has to be overpowered in every other Halo title.
I subscribed for this 2nd part and i missed it? haha, Nice video man, the wait was worth it
Always happy to deliver :)
Nah the magnum was always the emergent loadout weapon. The patch helped solidify that, but it didn't create the meta
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the plasma pistol also in every FPS Halo game? Not just the magnum? Unless I’m forgetting a game
51TD0wN most definitely
7:10 I turned down my sound so they didn't think it was something else😅 😂😂
Always prefered in games when they give pistols the respect they deserve instead of making it the weak "fall back starting weapon"
The DMR can also almost Snipe Enemies, and makes the Magnum and BR almost Interchangeable (Magazine Size/Spare Ammo makes the BR just a Bit more Useful here).
this makes me want to play H5F more, I hope something could revive activity for it
Also, upon review of in-game assets, halo 2 anniversary actually has 12.1 automatic printed on the slide, not 12.7. Which would indicate a smaller cartridge. The 12.1 Auto
In Halo 3, the low poly count makes it hard to distinguish if it is 12.1 or 12.7. but, the third digit looks different than the first, so I'm guessing it is a 7. Making halo 3 shoot 12.7 Auto
Halo 2, like 3, is hard to distinguish, but is printed either 12.7 or 12.1 automatic. Judging by the 1 on the
12, the last digit actually looks like a 7. Making this a 12.7 Auto as well
The ammo packets in Halo CE fortunately indicate 12.7x40
And in Halo 5, all Magnums also indicate 12.7x40
In Halo 4 the Magnum actually does not feature any manufacturing markings. But considering it is the same or almost the same submodel as halo 5, I would feel comfortable with saying that Halo 4 uses the 12.7x40mm
Halo Reach uses the same submodel M6 as halo 3 in canon, making it a 12.7 Auto as well.
In short, it looks like there are actually 2, maybe 3 cartridges for the Magnum across all the games.
12.7x40mm
12.7 automatic
12.1 automatic
There is a possibility that the 12.7 Auto and the 12.7x40mm are to very different cartridges, specifically in length. For the sake of cannon, we could argue that the 12.7 Auto could be closer to the 50AE, or 12.7x33. And the 12.1 Auto of H2A could be closer to the .475 wildey Magnum, or 12.1x30
The closest real world equivalents to Halo's 12.7x40 would be the 500 S&W 500 Magnum, or 12.7x41, and the 50 beowulf, or 12.7x42
To further the point, "the art of halo 3" apparently features an image of a cartridge used by the M6, and a description with the measurements of 12.7mmx30.
Favourite gun in halo 5, love it
There was also the Anniversary game types for Halo Reach, which, in addition to not having loadouts nor armor abilities as well as increasing some movement options, modified the Magnum to act more like the Halo CE Magnum, having a three headshot kill time.
Hope Halo Infinite has a good magnum. The sidekick pistol they showed in the reveal is kinda lame.
Thats a five seven

Well IMO if they want to switch the mechanics and especially damage up they shouldn't call it a magnum, so I think they made the right choice. The halo 2 magnum would've been better off with a different name. It's just more recognisable as a pickup name so I get why they did it.
The fact that they do not share the same names and like the bulldog not functioning the same you'd think that's them saying it's not a replacement, it's an alternative, I think they want to see how these weapons work in the game before adding the old ones back to better defined the new weapons rolls
i love how this one pistol is the icon of the entire game series.
The Plasma Pistol isn't in every FPS Halo?
Halo 5 was the first Halo to introduce multiple types of loadout magnum variants. The Base Magnum, The Tactical Magnum & Gunfighter Magnum!

Did he say the magnum was the only gun to appear in all fps Halo games? I thought the sniper rifle and plasma pistol appeared in every game as well
Only loadout weapon to appear in each title
The fact that you didn't bring up the CE Magnum being added as a weapon into H5 is disappointing, I really wanted to know your thoughts on that.
Well, to start discussing all the magnum variants in Halo 5 would have really dragged this particular video out and away from the core topic. But don't worry, Halo 5 having a full Magnum family is in the content pipeline :)
Correction its NOT called the CE Magnum its called the M6D Pistol!! Completely different Handgun!
Magnum got me acting up

You nailed it. I am sad infinite will not continue the trend and cement the Halo 5 as a successor to the Halo 1 Magnum. We will just keep going one step back and one step forward it seems.
What about the Assault Rifle? It’s been there for every halo and stayed virtually the same but tweaked in damage and sound. Even infinite has it. Halo 3 AR did suck though.
The AR was not in Halo 2. It also never spent time in a true meta
halo 3 ar is my fave :(
you should make a bonus part for the halo infinite mag
So I watched one of your videos and talked shit, but now I can't stop watching you and the fact that you hit me with a jcole reference. Okay buddy, you got yourself a sub.
343 seem to think about the gameplay more than anything else, multiplayer gameplay more than the campaign gameplay aswell.
Something about this vid made me really wanna play some halo 5 but I literally don’t have the drive space or download speed to put it on my Xbox for that 😂
Always leave space for Halo! >:(
The plasma pistol and needler and shotgun along with others have been in every fps halo, not just the magnum
surprised you didnt talk about the halo 5 CE maganum req weapon
I still prefer the halo reach style in the sandbox then halo 5's. It worked like how a sidearm should, the best defence when you have nothing else, and unlike halo 2 and 3 where even just meleeing your enemies was better, the magnum would still work as a viable weapon, and in Halo 5 the magnum and the DMR were a little too similar, so either replace the DMR with the magnum, or make the magnum like it was in reach.
P.S. I think the SPV3 magnum is the best out of all of those.
Isn't the needler also in every halo FPS?
As much as I don’t like Halo 5, the Magnum was the little brother to CE we needed
Halo 5 magnum, imo, is actually really spicy 😅 has a nice kick and punch to it, especially in slayer. I'm not usually a fan of semis that arnt hair trigger, but it's actually really fun ngl
Great video. Could you do one about the plasma pistol?, I think it suffered a fate quite similar to the magnum.
HR magnum is the father of the side kick
Halo 3's Magnum with a litte bit of faster fire rate and 2x zoom. = Perfect Magnum.
Just saying, that sounds a lot like the Reach and Halo 4 magnum.
Wait, so is the Br not halo 4s meta?
Halo 4's custom class feature really busted up the Meta as it where. I would not assert the BR or any other loadout weapon was of meta quality in H4
Counterpoint about the 95% of engagements: BR, DMR in 2, 3, and Reach
@@AntiCaesarReal I agree that those are used a lot in those games, but I still feel that there are more viable replacements for the BR/DMR than the H5 magnum. It's especially an issue when there are BRs, DMR's, Carbines, etc... on the maps but the magnum you spawn with outclasses them in almost every circumstance. It kind of invalidates them. I'm actually glad that BTB does BR starts and has the other weapons as on map pickups, even though the H5 BR is pretty terrible after the update.
I think it’s telling that Swatnums might be the best Swat variant in Halo 5.
I don't understand what happened with the br in h5. It's literally worse than the magnum in just about every way except magazine size. It's really dumb.
Why does Halo fans always mix up the Magnum against the pistol which was the name of the gun in Halo CE. The Magnum was a completely different gun in Halo 2 of the pistol hence the name "Magnum"
Magnum is different to the Pistol
The M6D PISTOL is the BEST HANDGUN OF ALL TIME IN HALO HISTORY
In Halo Infinite the "sidekick" is basically the Halo 2 Magnum and IS NOT THE PISTOL!!
3 different guns 👈
plasma pistol, rockets, sniper and shotgun in all halos not just magnum lol maybe another idk if im forgetting
Topic focus is on loadout weapons, of which the Magnum is the only one to make it to each game.
@@AscendHyperion The Plasma Pistol has been a loadout weapon in two Halo titles. CE when using default weapons on several maps, and 4. If you want to count invasion than I could say 3 titles but I won't stretch.
It’s back but not in black, gold
man i hope they release halo 5 on pc more than that forge custom games port
0:18 aaaaahhhhh such frustation
I dont get why the H5 magnum sounds silenced when it can kill a spartan in a few shots
Take my sub.
9:04 let me stop you right there. Not anymore 😂 now that frickin 343 is removing the magnum in halo 6
Lol I’m just joking not flexing on you
The worst thing that bungie ever did to halo was nerf the mag ironically the only thing 343 got right
I dislike too much overlap of function in the weapon sandbox.
The h5 magnum was a masterpiece

Say whatever you want about 343i, but they have done very well with weapons, this is the best example.
The Combat Evolved Magnum returns in a completely new game....... Destiny 2, as an exotic and it's fun to use
......can we talk about how hilariously unintuitive having a pistol, being a "meta gun" is for a moment??? a pistol, a weapon that in any relevant combat application is always relegated to a side arm, a weapon of last resort, a weapon you go to when your PRIMARY weapon is out and you need something NOW.... a pistol in every way, including visual design tells a player, "I am your back up gun". it is always in your secondary slot, it is visually a smaller gun, it is only semi-auto, compared to it's full auto and burst fire counter parts... essentially in every way the pistol is extremely unintuitive for new players.
That's why I like the ODST magnum. It's precise, and allows for quick headshots when neaded. : )
You can run lobbies with the Halo 5 magnum.
Hell yea
Aaaaand then 343 dropped the ball by cutting the Magnum out of Infinite, as far as we know.
