I have been doing a lot of these lately and I agree I always lighten first. I did find a mini trick to prevent the splotches from the lightener. I clip away the hair I’m going to color and outline it with a heavy mask or conditioner and then place saran wrap over it. Same when i want to isolate the blonde and apply the color. :)

This looks amazing and I’m grateful you posted this video of how you’ve done it because I always thought it’d be better to do the front first and colour last with these colours but I kept being told I was wrong and wasting time but it definitely does come out a lot cleaner with a lost less stress. Well done!

How do you maintain it? do you have to separate your hair and shampoo the blonde and red separately? and with what shampoos?
What we would be the benefit of lightening that way verses doing it in foils. (Genuinely curious)
Honestly, to have it a totally seamless band of blonde, you can’t have foils. No matter how close you get with foils there will be minimal root showing thru. Also I don’t want it over processing her precious blonde, open air is a bit sister of a process vs not able to see how much is bleach expanding into the foils
