Great video for pointing out the different ways to resource level... however, am I the only one confused as to why the first 3 methods give a different solution to the last method? Why is this?
Thank you for your comment and question. In the video I mentioned that you must be aware of what has changed in your project and the different method do not always bring the same result. I also created additional video on Resources allocation: resource usage Overallocation ua-cam.com/video/CY8I5F-m3r0/v-deo.html Task inspector ua-cam.com/video/cyhRdqnXpTU/v-deo.html Levelling Resources ua-cam.com/video/Y1l617Mzzrw/v-deo.html Greetings from Geneva.
Hi and thank you for your videos, they are very clear. I have a question: Project automatically assigns 8 hrs for every task, but in reality many task take less time per day, how can the hours be modified?
Thank you for your supportive comment and your question. If you want to assign less time to a task you can look at the resource usage tool. Here is a link to a video on solving overallocation with that tool. It will show you how to change worked hours. May be you canlLet me know how it solved your point? Greetings from Geneva.
@@vision6D Thank you for your fast reply, I will look at the video. I have another question: For a fixed period of 1 week I want to assign 6 hours in the morning to one task and 2 other hours in the afternoon to another task, how can this be done?
hi, I have a master schedule with 22 projects in, I need to assign each project manager to only 2 projects at the same time I gave them 50% max unit but still it shows over allocated do you know how can I fix it?( projects are not linked together)
Thank you for your question. Depending on the complexity of projects the resolution of overallocation needs to have a look into each project. If you want you can send me your files and I will give them a look and come back to you. To send me your files: calttla at gmail.com Greetings from Geneva.
Thank you very much. This video is really helpful, the first one about overallocation that mentions possible consecuences of the chosen solution over the entire project. I noticed some issues about the sound, if you can improve that, your video would be perfect. It´s really important for on native english speakers like me. But I must say Thank you very much!!
Hello, Thank you for your question. Depending on your situation their might be different places where to change the calendar, project level, resource level. Depending on the complexity of your project, overallocation has to be solved in different ways. @@vision6D I cant level using levelling option because it changes the duration of the project. So I tried it manually by changing time and by assigning another resource to reduce number of units ( hours) and also I increased number of resources(units) in certain periods. By reducing units overallocation get solved. but where I cant assign another resource I tried changing the working days and hours of the calendar as exceptions. But it wont solve overallocation. I did it on a sample project. How can I send you the project file?
over allocation is by hour. If you can work a maximum of 8 hours a days and MS Project allocates you a task of 10 hours that same day you are in over allocation. Hope this clarifies it.
These video's are great, however I am finding that they never seem to appear in order, and some seem to not exist. Is there any way to get a link to all of them?
