Damn there's seriously nothing Serpents can do early game in a rush build. Has Battle Realm always been this unbalanced? Does the balance only works when people agree not to rush?
You observed it correctly: Serpent is significantly weaker in early game and doesnt stand much chances anymore in a 1vs1 vs any other clan in early game. Keep in mind this footage is from 1.58.3 which is rougly back from summer 2024. Currently in the newest update 1.59.1 it got even worse for serpent because spearman was buffed in terms of damage and he was given a longer reach so he can target units from a little bit distance (which makes sense since spears do have a longer range than swords). The funny thing is, I am the one who is responsible for the buffs on spearman because it was me who asked KoMiKoZa (part of brs developer team) to buff serpent. The added reach for spearman was needed and is very good and also makes sense realistically. But the damage buff should be revoked. It is too much. As in the current update of 1.59.1 serpent loses clearly in early game to dragon in open battle. Serpent has to tower in most cases. Any dragon player can force the serpent to build a tower by simply going 2x dojo and training 2x spearman at the same time. No serpent player can survive that without tower. Even before 1.59 2x dojo was the standard tactic for dragon to force dragon to go into tower. And then dragon has the advantage and can use that advantage to get most of the horses. Even back in 1.58.2 this worked well and this is how i beat SNaTCH who was considered the best serpent player in Battle realms when I played dragon vs serpent with him. However, it was not always like this. the funny thing is: In the original battle realms serpent was the strongest clan in early game because swordsman was the strongest tier 1 unit out of all clans and serpent had a training time advantage. due to a coding mistake or a unwanted setting, serpent trained units like 5 seconds faster than any other clan. it resulted into serpent becoming the strongest clan in early game in the original br. However, in battle realms zen edition which is the remaster of battle realms, many changes were done to the balancement after the update 1.58 came out. Most of the changes were good btw. But many other units got buffed. Brawler and spearman beat swordsman in a fair fight. Serpent became much much weaker and was considered the weakest clan in the timespan of 1.58. till 1.58.3. Wolf and Lotus clan have the strongest early gameplay. Dragon clan also can fight toe to toe after the spearman buff happened in 1.59. Dragon clan has a good early gameplay and a very strong endgameplay. Lotus has a very good early gameplay and a very strong endgameplay. Overall, as of update 1.59. Lotus is the strongest clan because it excels in everything and is strong in early and lategame. Dragon is the second strongest clan now. Serpent is kinda weak in early still good in late. Wolf is very strong in early game but very weak in late game. If I would rate the clans, I would rate them like this. 1. Lotus, 2. Dragon, 3. Serpent and Wolf can share the same spot because one is either strong or good in early or late game. Personally I would still rate Serpent higher than wolf because Serpent in 1vs1 can theoretically beat all other clans - just not in endgame. Wolf clan can beat dragon and lotus only in early game. So to answer your question: battle realms was actually even more unbalanced back in original br. battle realms zen edition is the best version of battle realms ever made. Its just there are still things that need to be polished. The later the game goes, the more fair it is in most cases minus for the wolf clan because the wolf clan has a weak late game. The good thing is that in 1.59.1 serpent got some pretty needed buffs. for example the serpent tower got buffed. Now the watchtower of serpent not only reduces the armor of units and knocks out horseriders but also makes effected units unable to run and forces them to walk.. that is a huge gain for serpent especially in early game

nah, I dont use the same tactics every game. I literally started with dojo + archer in the first game. So failed comment. And besides 2x dojo is the standard tactic of dragon to rush serpent and force serpent into tower. Of course you dont understand yavrum
