    OMG.... I have been sooo depressed about my 3phase 3hp "big blower" performance. Was almost in tears over it after much calculations and planning. I decided to do a "quick UA-cam check" and found this video. I immediately ran out and reprogrammed my VFD and BOOOOM, the damn thing was running the wrong direction. I can't thank you enough. Who would think it would still suck on the same duct in either direction, but one WAY more efficiently than the other. My decimal levels are less than half, and my air flow is like triple! According to the VFD it's now running in "reverse" I'm sure I can reconfigure it, but for now I'm blown away (no pun) by the performance. The world makes sense again. Thanks so much for making this video!

    Does this also apply (as in static pressure) for a CROSSFLOW fan?

    Hi i am a HVAC engineer i have doubt in this centrifugal fan. My Kitchen Extract fan is showing discharge flow more than the suction flow. How is it? ( outlet air flow is more than inlet air flow???????) Please help me i am waiting for your answer.

    in the event of long ducts can you couple and axial fan with the centrifugal fan? the axial fan in line in the duct and the centrifugal fan at the end of the exhaust duct ?

    Hello man. I'd like to ask what is the best kind of turbine/blower/propeller for a BIG vacuum I'd like to build for my woodworking shop. I'd like it to be able to suck really hard through at least a 4 inches hose in a system of pipes of more or less 500 ft long in total.
    The dust collectors already available seem to be too weak for that, so I'd like to build a better and bigger one, but I don't know what centrifugal or axial propeller design is the best for high suction pressure.
    I hope you can help me. Thank you! :)

    So, now I'm confused because a tube axial fan that is designed for ventilation is somehow not supposed to be used for ventilation? I should use a squirrel cage in my paint booth?

      Axial fan is fine for ventilation without fine filtration. If you have a paper or fabric filter, there is a notable restriction to flow, so a centrifugal fan is very likely needed.

      @@IndustrialAccessoriesCompany What about using a tube axial fan with ducting? One of the reasons I'm asking is because I'm getting ready to build an evaporative cooler for a greenhouse by forcing air through ducting (4" corrugated drain pipe) My tube axial fan is a Dayton 12" with a four fin blade with a 3/4hp motor that moves at a max of 2877rpms. (I don't know what kind of static pressure it can pull or push) It will be attached to a 20' 12"diameter culvert pipe that elbows at 45 degree into a 20' piece of 12" diameter culvert that is the manifold for about 30 - 4" drain pipes that travel about 25-30 feet to complete the air loop (without filtration). So, I have air pushing through about 200' of underground tubing.
      It looks like some of the evaporative coolers that are similar in build are using "inline fans, (centrifugal fan) but they don't have nearly the moving power at 12" that I am thinking the tube axial has...(am I wrong?) I'm attempting to move just under 8000cf of air in about a minute or two through ducting. The 12" inline will move 8000cf in about 5-6 minutes. Do I need to go back to the drawing board?

    Haha. Just had a 3 phase fan going wrong way on a job today.
    Sparkies adamant it was tested, as ‘it was still sucking’.
    Just asked to switch phases ‘just in case’ and voilà.

    Never heard that you can change the direction on an ac-motor (fan), or are you talking about 3-phases fans? Besides of dc motors or connecting the airflow wrong, how do you manage to get that fail happen? :D (sorry for the english).

      Hello - thank you for your question. Luis Castano's reply is: "Not all AC motors have the ability to be reversed, but most do. Reverse direction is made by simply switching wire connections. DC motors are not common in industrial applications."

      The question is too broad. Depends on the type and size of fan. A way to get an idea of flow capacity is to measure the inlet diameter, calculate the inlet area and multiply by flow velocity of 3000 feet per minute.
