Once I was descending The Cobbler and a bickering middle aged couple were coming up, picture Jamesie and Ella Cotter from Rob C. Nesbitt. As I passed them on the path I hear her say angrily to her husband "YOU NEVER TOLD ME IT WOULD BE UPHILL ALL THE WAY!!!!" 🤣🤣
Full on helicopter. Muriel Gray's book - The First Fifty - has a chapter about making the series. It was not an easy show to make. They filmed the climbs over two days, walking it on the first (they really did do the full walks as described, with the camera gear, unlike so many 'walking' shows), then flying on the second day to get the aerial shots. This was a more economical way to book the helicopter. Sometimes it was difficult to get the weather to match up through the sequence, if it was different on the two filming days. The book is a great read if you're a hillwalker; same vibe as in the show.
Not a bad show and much better than the Julia Bradbury type of programmes that are full of boring people that she 'happens' to bump into on her walks. Could have done with a bit more detail of the routes though. PS Nice legs at 16.25 😁 all that hillwalking pays dividends!
