In 1971, Arnob's dad Swapan Chowdhury was part of a travelling band that went from camp to camp to inspire the kids in Mukti Bahini. Watch the documentary Muktir Gaan. It's extraordinary.
Anusheh’s mum, Lubna Marium, who is a renowned dancer and cultural activist, and her aunt, Prof Naila Z Khan, were also part of the Muktir Gaan troupe! Second what you said, Muktir Gaan is an extraordinary documentary, one of its kind (for anywhere/any language) and a must-watch!
She's even better if you can see her playing live. I had the fortune to see her once playing, which I'll never forget. Some musicians love to perform on stage, and she's one of those. Yes, indeed she's an inspiration to lots of musicians for "folk-rock."
Well, you have a misconception that Anusheh Anadeel is the catalyst for the rock movement. The history of rock is way older. And if you consider even top 10 rock legends, Anusheh wouldn't be considered one of them. Anusheh or the band "Bangla" is pivotal in popularizing folk music among urban people with rock instruments and composition. Before that folk was mostly appreciated by rural people and some specific niches. Whereas due to their movement, folk is now widely accepted and appreciated among people of all ages and classes. Same with Rabindra Sangit, Arnob is the one who is solely creditable for popularizing Rabindra sangit to youth, before that it was considered to youth as boring, blunt and not exciting. Anusheh though has definitely one of the best vocals Bangladesh have ever produced.
Yeah Anusheh and Arnob are fusion legends. And they are not even the pioneers. Tbf they rode the wave created by Habib Wahid and DJ Fuad (who rode the wave of Hason Raja/Sylheti songs re-popularized by Humayun Ahmed dramas in Selim Chowdhury's voice). As for Tagore songs, Arnob is like a footnote. And rock music became popularized in Bangladesh by his fathers' generation (yes, the kids that fought the war in 71). His uncle Tapan Chowdhury could be called a rock pioneer.
There are couple of points I would like to share. In Bangla band there were Anusheh Arnob and Buno (sound engineer and bassist of coke studio). Anusheh was married to Buno then later got divorced. Arnob came into scene with his Chaina Bhabish album and it’s one of the best album ever. Anusheh and Arnob studied at Shantiniketan Kolkata. In UA-cam you can find some Anusheh’s unplugged songs and they have good sounds also. Bangla has 2 albums and both of them are great
GOD swears aj se ye channel mere liye sabse pehle wala ho gwya...... I'm shocked ...... Ap dono ko thanks bolneka words nehi hai mere pas 😄😄😄 Thanks both off you bro Kuch vi ho..... ham apke sath hai
One of the most celebrated bands covering Lalon geeti in BD. You may also want to include Kalare (also has music video) and my personal favorite Ami Opar Hoye by Anusheh - Bangla Band.
Well, it could be called Folk Rock, not Rock alone. The most favorite song of hers from this album "Kala re koiro go mana" and "ami opar hoye", that haunted quality of those songs and Anushe's delivery ❤️ Also u should listen to this. ua-cam.com/video/8b9sfUm27Eg/v-deo.html There are lots of other covers but this is the best rendition.
Since you guys enjoy bengali folk fusion music alot, you should definitely review "Raat Pohale pakhi bole dere khai" by the Band "Bangla" in which Arnob Chowdhury and Anusheh Anadil used to be members. The way they have incorporated distorted dotara (bengali version of the Turkistani Dutar) is mind blowing. Pls review that ASAP.
Glad to see you guys are digging deeper! We grew up listening to this stuff. Please check out Bangla's second album Pratyutpannomotitwa (yes, it's difficult for some of us to pronounce as well) too, which is a different vibe altogether. If you are in for some recent acts slowly making their mark, check out Sonar Bangla Circus and The Rehman Duo. The singer of Rehman Duo Rubayat is also in the back vocals team of CS Bangla.
Thank you sir! Your Tenor sax is so pleasing! You are gifted! CS Bangla should be proud to have an artist like you. I am really amazed to see you here! Such a down-to-earth attitude! Unbelievable!! ❤️
Trivia: The album art was actually drawn by Arnob. The guy who was doing the percussion was name Shantanu. He just vanished. But he was one of the best during those time.
I've been watching all of your reaction videos to Bangla Music. And I have to tell you, you guys seem to be really honest about how you feel about our music. I really appreciate you guys doing this. Keep it going. We're really proud about our Music scene, specially about our Rock and Metal genre. The feeling's quite mutual cause we like pakistani music too. The only thing I want to mention is, The language barrier is cutting off a huge portion from the songs. Translations dont really do justice to the lyrics. I hope you guys find a way to understand the lyrical philosophy too. Anyway, Thanks a lottttt for doing this. Love from Bangladesh.
It's actually a song by the band Bangla (named not after the language, but the cheap locally produced alcohol that we also call Bangla 😅). It could be considered a super band if you look at where the former members are now. Anusheh Anadil is of course a legend. But even Arnob was the rhythm guitarist and second vocalist of the band. Pantho Kanai was the drummer, Buno was the bassist, both of whom you've seen in coke studio Bangla. Anusheh Anadil has unfortunately left the music now and focuses on her business.
@Lets talk about it! You guys should also listen to a song called janite hoy bhab abeshe (Lalon song) By Anusheh anadil a collaboration with Kutumba in Nepal. (kutumba a Nepali folk band) ua-cam.com/video/Oo1g3BW-TOU/v-deo.html
men, you should really try something from Joler gaan.its a folk band but it is very very different in a great way. their works somewhat resemble Bayaan band in a way that they always have a good message, but their presentation is very unique.I remember you mentioning about Eskul Khuilache in one video.I guess, you were talking about the IDFC version. they have a song, porer jaiga porer jomin, which was sang by joler gaan.try them once, and you will not be able to stop
@Hammad i wanted u to listen to one lullaby, there's not a lot of songs dedicated to father daughter relationship, so this one feels pretty special, and as u have a daughter, u might relate to it. ua-cam.com/video/cA8fmhB-v1k/v-deo.html Unfortunately there's no subtitle but i can give u a summarized version of the lyrics. It's bout a fisherman father who was tucking his daughter in and asking the moon to bring sleep to her before his departure to the sea for fishing. while he was in the sea he faced a storm, all he could see was her face in his mind and he was hoping for his safe return to her in the dawn. So he fought the storm with the sole focus of returning to his daughter. upon his return, that sleepless night, the tiredness, all was forgotten the moment he saw her face ❤️
This is amazingly beautiful! Thanks for sharing the summary along with the link. Loved it! Specially the central idea of this lullaby is so so so good. Keep on sharing such gems please
Listen and react to Kalare by Anusheh. It is talking about Hindu God Krishno/Krishna(Hindi) who was known for his dark skin therefore song titled Kala re (Dark One). Trust me, you will like it. Good review.
