After inspecting under a microscope, I sent a very modern 1990 D Kennedy clad 50 cent coin from a mint set to PCGS a few months and it came back at a 67+. As of today, it is pop 1 with none graded higher with value of of $750 with an arrow pointing up. I don't intend to sell but I am sure when there is a 68, the value of my coin will drop. To me, that is OK as I plan to give my collection to my grandchildren.
Well Well!!! I just received my grades on line this afternoon from my most recent PCGS submission of modern coins. I sent in a few Kennedy 1976 Bi Centennial 50 cents coins. Of the three , the 1976 D Clad is listed as a MS 67. PCGS pop reports says that at this grade there are 39 with 1 higher, a 67+. PCGS says $1,150 for my MS 67.
After a lot of trial and error, I have come to the conclusion that searching mints sets first with a magnifier and then with a microscope is the best way to achieve a high grade at PCGS

@@shelley2726 If you are a PCGS member, every so often they offer a Quarterly Special with a 17 dollar per coin cost if you send a minimum number of coins in the submission package.
@@shelley2726 I am not a professional in the industry but Shaun is. Why don't you send him a message and ask his assistance as he does evaluate private collections. I would highly recommend his opinion on your collection and what would be best to do with it. I am glad you keep collecting as the hobby is a very rewarding endeavor.
Shaun, I have a 1974 Kennedy Half Dollar that I bought a few years back from the Bradford exchange. Uncirculated, it's a terrific specimen.
I just picked up 3 SMS sets today from a pawn shop 2 1966 and 1 1967 for 15 bucks and these coins look amazing

Picked up a flawless 1964 kennedy with extra hair above the ear from a pawnshop that doesnt ever sell coins all for a deal of 12 dollars

I sent 4 1991 coins out for grading that was sealed in the mint set never opened that were completely toned on the obverse side. I sent them out still sealed so that they could be authenticated as natural toning. They had turned blue purple red orange just crazy complete coverage of this side. But the reverse side had zero toning like this 1967. How this happens is beyond me but I've seen it a few times in mint sets most likely storage and handling. Just letting you know BRS this can happen in mint celo. Also and this is just my thought but if it was a roll ender it would most likely have a haloing around the rim from the rolled ends of the roll. This has complete coverage I am guessing this happened much like the ones I discovered. One heck of a Ebay score. Have a great day!! Happy Hunting!!

I've got a 1968 D silver Kennedy half dollar that's never been out of it's protective cover. My health care provider gave it to me, talk about a double look

Hi. I've been watching your channel. Pretty much out of curiosity. I find it very interesting. I also have notification set. Because, I decided to grab some half and a couple hundred in quarters. I just need to keep busy. While hoping to have some luck. It's very difficult after looking for awhile. My eyes seem to tell a different story than the true coin. Ya know what 8 mean? I have several 1974 3 look very nice, two of them however I don't get. They have a p mint under Kennedy 's neck as all the others. But my dilemma is why is there also a D above the 9 and 7.? I don't get it.

@@jamesc.guillory2604 mmhmm 😁 they are confirmed to be real 1964 sms Kennedy’s. 30+ years ago, my aunt was working for an investment firm directly connected to the mint, and when she retired after working there for (I don’t remember how long, but I know it was at least 15 years), the owner of the firm handed them her 10 1964 Kennedy’s and said “my gift to you for being such an amazing asset to this firm… make sure you hang on to these and never spend them. They’re very special, and should be worth a fortune some day”. Well, as it turns out, he wasn’t lying. I had learned about a year and a half ago after she passed them down to me that 9 out of the 10 coins are the coveted 1964 SP Kennedy halves (specimen). They pass all diagnostics, and even have that little tear drop hanging from the crosslet of the 4. Unfortunately one of them was just a regular old Kennedy. But yes, I absolutely know what they are and what kind of value they hold. 😁
@@jamesc.guillory2604 and to be clear, they were gifted as individual coins, and not part of any special mint sets. The man who gifted them to my aunt was close friends and associates with the head of the mint (I forget her name. This was years before I was even born).

I have about one roll 40 halves highly toned super bright purple green gold Kennedy halves 64-71 I believe they will grade pcgs 66 to even 68 for the 1964 ones are they worth the time and expense to grade them? (I've checked them carefully and they were stored in glass jars for 50 years.
If you think the value of a coin is over 100 I would send it.

Shaun, I got my sons into coin roll hunting a few months ago after watching several UA-cam videos on the hobby. We started by asking our bank if they had any half dollar rolls. They had 6 rolls which apparently were someone's old collection because we ended up with over 1/3 of the coins being 40% silver Kennedy's and two of them were 90% 1964's! On top of that, one of the 40% 1966's has a doubling on the "I" and "B" in LIBERTY. I can't find an example anywhere. Have you heard of this particular error?
My brother and I started roll collecting when I was about 10 years old and I am retired now.

Thing I hate about currency collecting is it's worth what it sells for. I posted a major misprint $100 bill. Every one said it was worth $101 to $110 at the most. I didnt waist time $ to get it graded. Then after about 3wks after selling it for $105 guy said if you still have this I'll buy it for $7k. I ended up tracking it down...😢 the guy sold it for $13k at some auction in N.Y. those bastards who poopooed it across 3 collector sites. They cost me a fortune. The whole time I left it on those sites people kept the lowest value for 3months after it sold for such a high price. So I quit getting advise & dont know who to trust!😢😢😢
Ya, it is rough. It's like a select club. If someone is offering to buy something for a low price. Then it is time to not sell and start working on finding buyers. A $50 offer on a half dollar would make me say no. And start looking into other buyers or options. These guys don't want a $50 half. They want $1000 half for 50 bucks.

Man I have nicer ones than this and i know if I sent them off to get graded i would not get either the grade nor that price. These prices are rigged and they are coins both the auction house and the grading company knows. No average joe with better coins will get these prices. No way its rigged
