Notice how during the Fire Emblem commercial, it asks "Who Are You?"
EVEN THE COMMERCIAL KNOWS IT DOESN'T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE FIRE EMBLEM!!
R.I.P. Woman dressed as a Slab of Meat

Rest in Spaghetti, Never Forgetti
_"Just wanna remind you kids: this is an _*_E-rated_*_ game! Leave room for - _*_JEEEZUS!_*_"_ - J Wittz, 2017
The Kirby Canvas Curse ad is also weird. It involves Kirby, a giant finger and the DS' old slogan "touching is good".
The mouse one had me dying 😂
OMG WTF NINTENDO!
Who's watching from 2019 but anyway the mouse is me when I got smash bros ultimate
Lincoln Beckett-Scott what an inappropriate way to introduce a small gaming console!
Anyone remember the original Zelda commercial, where that kid starts rapping after the other kid yells "nice graphics!"
Air Preferences I did! Even though it wasn't strong for the fans to like it, I still burst out laughing! 😂 Ooh, Nintendo.
Lest we forget that infamous Japanese commercial for A Link to the Past...
The Battle Tanks one looks like a Robot Chicken sketch. And that's hilarious.
There was actually a Robot Chicken sketch of a snuggles like bear who is a little too soft...
Anyone remember when the DS's slogan was "Touching is Good?"
now imagine if that was the slogan for the Game Boy Micro (for some reason) and they said it during the mouse commercial
Of course "Touching is Good" ever heard the song "Everytime We Touch"? That's a classic!
Looks like that mouse liked that audio jack even more than you did.
I think the Yoshi's island ad was a reference to a sequence from Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life". I'm not sure why they'd reference an adult surrealist comedy film when advertising a game meant for children, but... they did.
I remember the Yoshi ad! While it did gross me out, it would actually scare my little brother, and he would have to leave the room every time it would come on.
This is FIRE EMBLEM, not GAME OF THRONES.
lupin animations I knew at least someone else was getting a Game of Thrones vibe from the Fire Emblem commercial. I couldn't have been the only one.
Nintendo: playing the Game of Thrones card before HBO got the rights from Martin.
my favorite nintendo ad is the smash bros 64 live action one where people dressed up as nintendo characters beat up each other. I remember seeing that as a kid and begging for smash for my bday.
KMACK TIME lol I’m the first to dislike this comment lol not trying to be mean
That Yoshi's Island commercial was disgusting, and that clay Kirby was nightmare fuel!
I like yoshis island but that ad would've made me NOT want to play it
i have a game boy advance and I was going to get Kirby's Pinball Land. Not anymore LOL
Anyone else remember seeing the red and blue commercial on a Pokémon VHS?
Anyone else think of the Nostalgia Critic crapping himself in fear with that first commercial for the NES?
S.R. Hunt It just scares me. The song "We are Nintendo" creepies me really much though. Still NES has got great nostalgic commercial, but absolutely not that one in my opinion.
5:43 pan pizza, get out of this commercial
did a-n-y-b-o-d-y notice the flying spaghetti at 08:07??? 😂😂😂
André Appèlbohm I am not lying I saw your comment and I saw my screen and it said 8:07
JWittz, I thought this video was gre-WAM BAM POW KABOOM FSHHH KAPLOWAWOW ZAPPLE DAPPLE DOOM BOING SPLAT SQUISH
“You cannot beat us”
Me:well then *loads in cheat codes*
The Battletanks commercials are my favorite thing ever. When the bear goes flying and screaming, I practically cry from laughing.
He didn't include the original smash ad?
Just watched that ad. I was getting a bit of a Teletubbies vibe from it. Creepy.
The strangest ad to promote a Smash game. But I also loved the one for Smash 4 where this muscle man turns into Donkey Kong because he didn't want to lend his seat to a girl in a bus, so then she beats him in Smash Bros. and sits on his seat.
Lucas Cupstid yes like the mouse one. that was so halarious!!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Who knew the first commercial because of nostalgia critic
As soon as I heard the slowed down Mario jingle, I knew it was gonna be that Australian commercial he was gonna show first
6:19 And that's why Fire emblem nearly went the way of Metroid and F-Zero. As for the one with the GB micro, there was one for the Pocket where A guy ignores his rather provocatively dressed wife/Girlfriend clearly coming on to him... Nintendo was weird
There was a similar ad to that second one that got pulled from magazines - a woman tied to a bed, looking irritated, because her guy is sitting in a chair nearby playing Game Boy(?) instead. Some pearl-clutchers assumed she had been forced into something non-consentual, rather than the obvious situation of her boyfriend/husband taking advantage of her kink to keep her away while he played video games.
Now with the mega-success of Dread that F-Zero comparison doesn't really hold up anymore. I'd say a more fitting fitting franchise would be Star Fox.
JWittz I think you might be slightly abusing the term "millennial". All that means is someone who spent a good portion of their childhood around and after the start of the new millennium. Which means that A. Those people on the roof look like they could be in their early 30s, so, not millennials. And B. Luigi's Mansion came out in like what 2002? Which means that at the time that commercial aired most millennials would have been be somewhere around the ballpark age of 12 or so......so not those two red couch people who are clearly somewhere in their 20s at least.
+Davanthall I've usually seen it as "born from the 1980's-2000", but it's pretty subjective. You could pretty easily be early 20's in 2002 or late 20's today with that date range en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millennials
I feel extremely bad for not knowing but can someone tell me when they say early 2000's are in Gen y, do they mean 200 EXACTLY or below 2005?
It was originally used to describe people who came of age in the year 2000... so people who were 18-21 in that year, which would be ~34-37 year olds now
TheJWittz that's in accurate. It's generally considered to be born between 1994-present day.
3:45 DON'T LET YOUR KIDS WATCH IT!
That commercial was a rip-off of the restaurant scene from Monty Python: The Meaning Of Life! A skit featuring the fattest and unhealthiest man imaginable eating everything until he swells up like a balloon and explodes! That skit was super disgusting, and the fishes reaction to it pretty much summed up the audiences reactions as well. So for that skit to be translated to a Nintendo commercial for an E rated game, is just plain wrong on so many levels!
1:28 It’s the Duolingo bird riding a cloud!

This Has Food In It So Now I Want Yoshi's Island
This was great. Do more of these.
+SupaNintendoGirl Jwittz is a family friendly channel so I won't comment what I wanted to comment ;)
Why do I see you in half the comment sections I've been in for the last 2 days?
ok I found that mouse one a bit funnier than I should have
SailorMalware You know, an advertisement for a family friendly console.
Ah, the middle ages, when you could randomly poison someone and say "it's just a prank, bro"
Man, I’m nostalgic for those good old days. I’ve had over 1,000 friends. Their all dead now.
Who else remembers the Ds era, when, I quote “T o u c h i n g i s g o o d”?
... Wait Nintendo actually aired that mouse advertiesment?!
Blackoutdmc I'm just as confused as you are. I wonder how many times they aired the commercial at that time?
They think kids don’t know what the mouse is doing, little did they know parents were watching too and saw that add
I saw something arguably worse than that once around christmas, was already a teen or older then though, but there's literally a commercial out there with hershey jingle bell balls or something super weird and gross. :p
My family just laughed. XD
Even today Nintendo has some unusual & memorable ads that really stand out.
There needs to be a sequel to this video. I can think of at least five more commercials that could have been included. Super Smash Bros (n64), conker’s bad fur day, Super Mario Land (GB), Paper Mario, heck the Pokémon link cable commercial would have been fine too
4:37 Except Graveler! He explods regardless!
@@cheezbunni3530 The Geodude line also learns Self Destruct and Explosion.
How could you leave out the commercial for Golden Sun? It has absolutely NOTHING to do with the game. It features a conductor (wizard?) fighting a bunch of demons at a symphony, and then the chandelier becomes a dragon
Fun fact. That dragon Chandelier becomes a summon in Golden Sun Dark Dawn. Probably the best thing that game did.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who wrote a long winded comment describing how amazing that ad was.
That one was crazy but it was pretty epic in it's own way. Im surprised the game sold as well as it did with that ad
I remember that ad I just didn't remember it had anything to do with golden sun lmao
As soon as I saw the first commercial I was already like NOPE.
That's legitimate nightmare-fuel.
You could put pretty much every Kirby commercial on here. They're all so... weird.
victikirby15 There's actually one where some kid gets rushed to the ER because he's expanded like a balloon from playing "too much Kirby". Let's just be glad this kind of thing never happens in real life...
@@poninefreak3321 and then at the end there's a fricking psychotic nurse that POPS HIM WITH SCISSORS
My favorite crazy Nintendo commercials game around the time of the N64. I particularly remember a set of commercials where the camera is focused on just this kid who's getting lectured by his dad, usually about how important family is, and so on. The twist comes when the camera rotates around to reveal that the kid's dad and presumably grandpa, are either dressed up like women, or as a cowboy and horse. And maybe they said something about "don't tell your mother, and we'll buy you a Nintendo."
I need to see if I can find it on UA-cam again. XD
When commercials are silly like this, it kind of ADS to the enjoyment!
Who expected Chadtronic to show up at 8:19?
Watching the full commercial for the Grill-Off game, it feels like a kid-friendly version of Too Many Cooks
My god, I remember watching that mario kart ds commercial over and over again with my brother when we first found it when it first came out.
Does anybody remember a Pokemon commercial where like a bunch of Pokemon were standing around and then they all got sucked up into an animated vacuum cleaner? I remember it so clearly from when I was a kid but can't find it anywhere.
JWittz's reactions and commentary are golden. Especially for the Yoshi Island commercial at 3:26
was that dorcus??? how can you tell??? where's eliwood??? what is this fire emblem ad???
+HCL Productions haha you can only tell because the first man says "what happened to Dorcas?" I like the fan theory that the producers picked the name out of a hat full of FE characters.
I remember that pokemon commercial. Good times.
1:53 - when Kirby has a concussion.
You ready for the shyamalan twist? she was a gamecube the whole time
made me laugh out loud JWittz
I think we all know the real reason why Apple removed their headphone jack now...
When J said that the Nintendo 64 commercial wasn't for a Nintendo first part game, I immediately yelled, "It's Battletanks, isn't it?"
Predicting correctly feels so good.
I remember that Micro GBA commercial playing on TV too! Lmao. That was hilarious!
Why didnt you cover the Majoras Mask ads they had?
Those were down right nightmarish
I thought they were very well done, and after getting my hands on the game I thought they were perfect. Still scary.
Best part about the FE commercial is that they dont even look like Eliwood and Hector
Maybe someone needs to reanimete or a make a comic redraw of this commercial with actual Fire Emblem characters
I'm trying to play Fire Emblem but this one player keeps poisoning my mutton.
4:00
The animation I feel is really well done.
I hope you do a sequel video that has things like the Japanese ad for Super Mario RPG with the claymation singing Piranha Plants.
This was terrifying what did they do to Kirby ;-;
SPADTM THE EYES WERE CREEPY.......GOD I JUST SAW A MOUSE HAVE *** WITH A FRICKIN NINTENDO CONSOLE SOMEONE BLESS MY EYES
FIRE EMBLEM WITHOUT JAPANESE ANIME GIRLS
Ka Chow To be fair, the series has always had anime influences in its art. Just not on such a high level until Awakening.
Nacho Hangover I'd argue the GBA and Tellius games had a tiny bit of a more "cute" anime style than the 3DS games.
"FIRE EMBLEM WITHOUT JAPANESE ANIME GIRLS" OH SO LITERALLY NONE OF THE GAMES IN THE SERIES THEN?!
I remember most of these. But I love how the Yoshi's Island ad rips off that Monty Python sketch, down to the tiny last morsel being "the snack that burst the man's stomach."
Okg! I saw that when i was little and that gave me nightmare fuel for years!😝
I am surprised the original Super Smash Bros ad for the N64 is not on this list.
that one was pretty funny but if you ask me, these are just weirder...
as soon as you said NES commercial I started yelling "NO I DONT WANNA SEE IT AGAIN"
That ad scared the crap out of my 10 year old self back when I first saw it.
I saw most of these ads as a kid but had long since forgotten about them. When I started seeing them here the memories all came flooding back. I remember that Pokemon Red and Blue ad in particular from some Pokemon VHS movies.
I'm gonna marry my Switch and make Switch babies.
What? It can't be any worse than the ads featured here.
remember the OOT commercial with the girl expressing everything in the game? that was crazy
"Did you know that the original ultra hand was one of Nintendo's first toys?"
No I did not know that steak lady.
Watching these make me so happy that in my country don't exist commercials for games
Well, you see, times were tough for Mr. Creosote, after the Meaning of Life, so he had to find work in advertisements...
8:49 Oh hello Chris Pine! I wasn't expecting you here.
What about that one music game on the DS with the angry sponge cake kid?
I've been watching your videos for a while and I gotta say, your comedic delivery has gotten really sharp. Keep up the good work.
Getting a real PBG vibe from 6:50
It was well executed though. Nice work.
lol i remember the bus ad from watching pokemon vhs tapes back in the day : 3
But the exploding man commercial kinda makes sense. This was the era of Ren and Stimpy and AHH! Real monsters. Those were pretty gross shows, but I loved them so much!
But they went too far. They were parodying a scene from an adult movie to promote a cutesy kids' game. Even Ren & Stimpy was less gross.
nothing will ever be as great as the kirby triple deluxe unleashed trailer.
I remember that pokemon commercial. The guy who drove out school bus actually looked a lot like the bus driver in the commercial, and I was terrified to ride the bus for weeks after that.
You should see the super princess peach ad for the usa
No wonder NA Box-art Kirby's almost always angry! That commercial totally scarred him, both physically and emotionally.
GameAndWatcher96 ...Kirby was longer cheerful after the Pinball Land Advertisement.
Kirby now faces the world with Rage!
Thank gosh EarthBound & Kirby at least revive themselves afterwards. 😊
"While I can't say for sure that these ads worked, I can definitely say they left me with something I'll never forget."
Trauma.
Also, the guy exploding in the Yoshi's Island commercial is a reference to Mr. Creosote from Monty Python's Meaning of Life.
I legitimately like YOU CANNOT BEAT US! Oh, and the Battletank one was amazing.
I think I can say I'm officially disturbed by these commercials, or my brain can't process what I just watched. The first few were just strange beyond belief, even though I remember the Pokémon commercial very much. Makes you wonder what kind of thing the switch will have for commercials (for the love of god don't make Splatoon 2 be weird and uncomfortable)
Chestbumphero Same.
I wonder if either Mother 3 (if they are planning to release it) or Splatoon 2 will have the same treatment... *Shivers*
Oh gosh, we won't want for that to happen! Lucas & Inklings, save us!!!
well i am starting to think that everyone at marketing collectively lost their mids independently
"she was a GameCube the whole time"
I saw the Yoshi's Island commercial accidentally in a top 10 weirdest Nintendo commercials list a long time ago, it took me like 4 or 5 years to overcome the trauma
Gaming ads have gotten a lot better than back in the 90's
They gross me out, i guess 90's kids had a strange taste in humour back then?
look up cartoon network memories. We had the best commercials. Not today which is full of edge lord and ganster wannabe crap.
Thank you for this. The nostalgia is real.
I bet if these commercials aired today it wiill sell none of the games at all
My favorite era of Nintendo commercials was the "Play it loud" campaign.
Im surprised the "Kirby Touch and Go" commercial wasnt there.
What's Kirby Touch and Go? Is that what you guys call Mass Attack in Europe?
+Isaac Nevarez
No, we still call it Mass Attack in Europe.
I assume that Hakase either meant Mass Attack or Yoshi Touch & Go, but I could be wrong.
THAT COMMERCIAL DOES NOT MAKE ME WANT TO BUY YOSHI'S ISLAND.
I have fallen..... and choose NOT to get up
