The way a Limited Liability Companies work(assuming yuzu held an LLC) is that when they are legally prosecuted, the company is responsible for the settlement, individuals withing the LLC are unaffected, that's the limit of liability. It's not the guys that work on yuzu that owe the money, the company will likely have to shut down and declare bankruptcy
That Mario ROM rumor was proven wrong a long time ago. Also, Nintendo using emulation is ok because they are emulating their games and they pay 3rd parties so they can emulate 3rd party games, there's a big difference.
I had to do a literature review for a company on work from home research because they wanted something to use to convince their employees it is best to come back to the office. My review did not show this. They didnt use the report. I am not sure what they did with their employees. This was a few months ago.
I gotta say, my opinion is also souring on the steamdeck experience, i’ve been having a problem where games just dont boot up properly, I’ll start a game and i’ll just get a steamdeck logo screen, if i hit the three dots button it’ll show the game running in the background but when i get off the screen it goes right back to the logo screen. I have to completely restart in order to get it to work.
PS2 era SSX games are some of my fondest memories. I don't believe there is any way to play them through a PS system at the moment and I would love for them to bring those games back.
If Nintendo doesn't want to deal with emulation, they may want to consider Xbox's backwards compatibility model. Otherwise, emulation isn't going away. A Switch with an extra DS cartridge slot would be pretty cool.
Rockstar learning absolutely nothing from the past couple years. Forcing an RTO AND resuming crunch culture all at once. Hope this drives employees to leave.
Oh they learned everything alright. They learned that they can do whatever the fuck they want and nothing will happen to them, because when the new shiny game comes out everyone just forgets what happened and enjoys the game they pre-ordered.
I work 100% remote, and I love it. I can Teams message/call someone if I need collaboration. But that’s the thing, in-office works for some, remote works for others. The key is providing the choice to people.
yuzu and citra fixes would come for obscure titles that were never referenced in the issues log. the telemetry files in config begin to make a lot of sense, but that is a flagrant breach of trust and lack of disclosure.
Great pod! Ironic to go from discussing the morality of emulating games and then transitioning into talking about devs being fired because revenue from legally bought games is stolen by executives. Remember folks at more than $100 billion of active arms sales, Saudi Arabia is by far the largest military customer of the United States of America. The call is coming from inside the empire.
This podcast blows my dick off!! You guys are awesome, and I will continue to obey Will's every command. Downloaded Rollerdrome, sat down after the Backlog.
I do disagree with it being wrong for Nintendo benifiting from their emulators. They can do this because they own the systems the emulator is simulating. Its more like Nintendo releasing the SNES Classic mini.
Yes and no I think it depends. Yes I think they're perfectly fine to release emulated versions of their systems and games since they are clearly the rights holder to all of the above. That being said, if they are co-opting any of the development work done by the community/open source projects, potentially rewording it a bit/forking it, then selling it for profit, that's where I think it gets a bit iffy.
Hey Will, what is your favorite run in comics? I just bought the first 2 Ultimate Spider-Man Omnibus after reading the entire series digitally and I am planning to re read it. I feel the whole series has a mostly solid story throughout and has some cool changes from the mainline universe. The only other comic book run I think might contest it is the whole Invincible series.
That's the thing tears of the kingdom wasn't being able to play yuzu before it It was released it was the emulator that you could have played it on. Yusu didn't work until tears of the kingdom officially released which they refined yuzu hen
Are the blue ray disks not able to hold 100GB now? I thought the PS5 disks got upgraded to that? So I would assume that Xbox ones would be as well ignorantly.
Warner Bros are mixing Hogwarts Legacy and their whole live-service push though into a giant monster, I'm afraid to say. Many were quick to point out that Quidditch wasn't a part of the game and the reason for that is because it is getting its own game with life-service aspects which they are currently working on (I'm sure alongside the rumoured Hogwarts Legacy 2) and has been in beta - Quidditch Champions. I played it a bit as I was offered a code and could do it on the Steam Deck it was... okay I guess? The gameplay wasn't too bad but a game purely based on the flying mechanics in Harry Potter, picking your roles and competing against others online, like a pay to win really. I can just tell how egregious it is going to get. Think of it like the Madden Harry Potter with live-service elements and you get the idea 😂
@@STELLARMIGHTY once I get an emulator or cow setup on anything I never update it for fear of things getting removed that I use, but it's good to know to not do it in this case especially. thank you!
Lessons to Learn: Don't make emulation software for Nintendo systems that are tied to Patreon. Nintendo ninjas will go after you and will make you pay for it.
The whole thing with yuzu ‘blaming’ people for piracy in their statement. I thought this was just a statement that Nintendo forced them to release tbh. I don’t know why people are so butt hurt

If Nintendo released a cartridge reader and an accompanying emulator that would just let me play my cartridges on my PC, I'd buy it. Why won't Nintendo just make it possible to play these games where we want in a way that they deem "legal"? This just seems like a no brainer to me. Nintendo would get to profit on the reader/emulator as well as the games and we get to play them at higher frame rates and resolutions. Everyone wins. To my knowledge they now OWN the Yuzu source code, so I can't imagine it would be all that difficult for them to develop on top of, cutting R&D costs, making their potential profit margins on a product like this even larger.
Because why would Nintendo butcher their own market and allow their own software to be played outside of their own ecosystem where they want everyone to be and get the most money? Their exclusives is one of their biggest strengths and you're basically asking them to give it up and throw it all way because it's inconvinient for PC nerds.

It is okay, just ironic, considering the timing 😂 also a lot of their emulation isn't the best
Watching this from my office doing a job that I can EASILY do from home.
12:46 my guess is its not through illigal means. If say a local mom and pop reseller sold it before release. And slot of smaller shops do that
I was watching and it just shut off on me and went private. Glad to see it back.
Literally came back to comment this same thing. I was lowkey pissed
@Nick-ht5yi I was a little too. Shut me out because I'm not paying.... then I realized there must have been some technical issue.

The backlog intro is pure gold. Never change it!
At the start of the video they explain why the re upload from the live. Makes sense. Good show y’all!!!
If only they left up the live till the video was up because I was in the middle of watching when it abruptly disappeared

01:30:00 Sony uses 100gb Blu Ray discs and Xbox, I believe, is still on only 25-50gb Blu Ray discs.
EA getting rid of a mandalorian game is like taking prime rib off the menu so you can make more hamburgers.

Squadrons was a good game, for about 10-20 hours. It was a great tech demo for a space shooter game EA should make.

People are saying that yuzu didn't do the totk updates, people forked yuzu to play it. But they definitely still absolutely encouraged piracy
And yuzu wasn't the only way to play tears early, there was just hacked switches.

Yeah that is never going to happen and with reason. PC is the root of piracy, the reason Nintendo will never release a title on it.
