Great project. When she is finished with it you and Renée can take it back and use it for a lazy Susan. Love your channel and the fact that you are not afraid to show your mistakes! Always looking forward to your updates.
WOW, you're the best person ever!!! So kind of you to build this for her! 😮👏👏❤❤ This is a spinner I would also love to have, and and NEED haha😁 Again, very good video! I'm inspired!👍
OK, I might be going around in circles on this, but as things have revolved, just when may seem to be spinning 'round, The Woodpecker has come full circle. Let's give Alain a round of applause!
Hi Alan, love it. Guess your centre was a little bit of this time. But I guess that is no problem for its use? Keep going with your video's, they always make want to make stuff. I probably end up in my workshop tonight......
Yes the center is off a bit , but it doesn't mather for it's purpose. I used the wrong setup holes for one side, so I had no reference to screw it together GRRRR so it ended off center a little
Great spin on that project Alain....:). Any particular reason why you did not just cut the circled from the pine countertop directly on the x-carve instead of making a template? You will probably get your order books full from Her figure skating friends.
Clever idea having a "secret hole" to screw the 2nd piece. I think your daughter should get 10% commission for all the turntables sold to her figure-skating classmates 😄
Yes but with age we get wiser, so you're much wiser than I am. I know when I was in my 20's I though I knew evrything... Now I know better, age made me wiser, I can't figure how much wise I'll get at 70 :))
It's because I messed up GRRRRR. I can't remember exactly what I did or when I did it, but I used the wrong predriled holes for one of the circle. So when it was time to put them together I had no good reference, so I ended up with a small misallignment.
Passion Woodworking The off-centerness does not represent bumps or uneveness in the ice. The spinner works exactly the same as when it was centered. There's only a bit more wood on one side than the other - More or less only an optical issue.
@@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker I’m looking if someone can make it for me as I’m in uk. But if I don’t find anyone local here as they are charging ridiculous amount of money, would you be happy to ship to UK please? Thank you
Yes I could, but the shipping can add up a lot. I often post my small wooden padlock in France and Belgium and it cost a lot just for shipping, but if you're still interested I can make a mock-up weigh it, measure it and figure out Canada post cost.
It.s faster this way. Cutting a ½" piece of plywood is faster than cutting a 1 1/8" pine. And then with a pattern I can recut as many I want with my big router with a patern bit.

I must lodge a formal complaint this time, Alain; the French version is 8 seconds longer than this one! This is completely unacceptable. Positive discrimination to the French, how awful. I am going to start a petition....
This channel deserves much more subscribers. The videos are just great! I watched them all.

aww thats so sweet of you. hope to see her compete in the olympics

Nice project and gift. Really enjoy your videos, always very well done.
Thanks Alain

That's a great idea. I think you'll see others catching on to this technique for off ice practice.

GO AUDREY! Remember though, practice doesn't make perfect, "perfect practice makes perfect" - The immortal Woody Hayes.
Nice build, I really hope your daughter makes it to the Olympics.
not daughter he said was his wife's niece
Sensacional 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

The pattern is way thinner and can be cut much faster. Then it's fast to reproduce the circle with a powerful router and a pattern bit.
Great job centering

It's not my daughter, my daughter is WAY older. It's the daughter of Renée's nephew. Boy saying that out loud makes us feel so old.
Alain Vaillancourt Ooops!!! Sorry 😯. I'm a silly "old fart" aged 72, so you're waaay younger than me :-)
You are just a youngster! I am 77 and also just a youngster. We need to stick together with all these young pups on You Tube.
Robert Craig You are right, woodwork keeps the brain cells ticking over.

Nice work Alain. Why are the circles not concentric when they spin?

+Alain Vaillancourt ice always has small bumps and what not, it will help her with her balance even more! Great project Alain!

i’m seeing this at 2022, i hope she participated in the olympics❤️
Unfortunately not...
You could combine this with Matthias Wandels wooden ball bearings (posted today)
it's just a coincidence.... but still it's the second time this happened, the first time was with my shop shelves.
the 2022 Winter Olympics just passed and sadly we did not see her :((
I know it's a shame....
What are the odds?! You and Matthias must be racing each other to register woodbearings.ca.
Trying to make something similar, but the bearing I got barely spins...any ideas how to fix this?
Strange, it's working super nicely with this type of bearing ant it's not even the super duty one. Maybe your bearing is broken?
Only just came across your video. How much would you sell one of these for please if made to order? Thank you
I don,t have one ready right now, but I sell them for $50

Hello. What is the thickness of wood?
1" thick
Where did you find that foam? I need some. Santé.
I guess you mean the high friction rubber. Here's the link of what I bought (www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=68979&cat=1,43456)
Oh Lee Valley. LOL OK then.
Why not just cut the pine on the CNC?

I bought mine at Lee Valley here's the link

@@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker thx so much. how can i understand the speed of the bearings?
The bearings turn the speed the skater turn. At least Audrey didn't had any trouble and she said this improved her performace
Do you sell these?
I sold one a several years ago
it is not even centered.
not centered
Center bad
Yes.....
