I'm from Russia, St.Petrsburg. I do love the books of C.S. Lewis, he is an incredible Christian writer! What a talent to speak about Christ in the language of a fairy tale! I am an Orthodox Christian, in our prayers, there is such a beautiful word describing God - "velelepota" - this means immeasurable beauty combined with immense greatness and power. And I think Lewis was perfectly able to convey this attribute of the Lord in his books. "Perealandra" struck me in the heart.

I'm just beginning to introduce my 2 unchu 13 year old nephews to the Real worlds of Narnia & Madeline L'Engle and to understand the Disney movies have Nothing to do with the book's true stories! Every time I listen to your messages it helps me better find ways to share God's message of love.

At the end, he gives four questions to check your heart to see if you're putting God first:
    1. Would I be glad if Jesus were to come back right now?
    2. Can I thank God in the midst of my present circumstances?
    3. Is there a relationship I'm responsible for where there's a problem I haven't put right?
    4. Is there something clear in the Bible that I have trouble obeying--slow to obey or refuse? (This can indicate there is something else I'm putting above God as my main joy.)
Put God first and get the world thrown in. Put the world first and get neither. Put first things first and you can enjoy second things.

Exactly, Lewis gave me vocabulary for my soul! Having read many of his books, for a beginner I would definitely recommend starting with Pilgrim regress...

@57:12 to the end was so excellent, better than the talk itself. I wrote his four tests down and will be reading them regularly. I definitely need these.

You know... I feel that, it's a shame.
It's a shame that our generation (I was born in the early 90's in south east America) missed out on this point of view and, also, this argument. Most of the of hours reading I was offered/recommended when I was in middle school was fiction or science fiction novels, in High School I was offered Ayn Rand.
While there are great things I learned from these readings, even as a Christian, I wish C.S. Lewis was recommended for more than just Narnia.
Admittedly, Narnia is a sort of gateway (and maybe that's how my teacher's intended it) but if our modern narrative wants to be fair, it should put forth compelling arguments for the other side...
Not that it wants to be fair...

ayn rand is fully deserving of the frequently misused descriptor "satanic"
my Christian school would ban Harry Potter but allowed her books

It is, but isnt it also a good imagination of what it may have been like what christ descended into before his resurrection?
