I’m from Chicago and listening to the conversation. I was a F1 student also . The first mistake sameer did was one should go to the place for what visa was granted. After reaching the destination first then he can go to any place. This is very important they should goto the destination first. Not only students even for the visitors also the same rule applies.
Not really!!! Talking from my past F1 experience. I don’t think Port of Entry would be a problem as long as you can mention and prove the CBP officer the reason why you picked a different POE other than where your university is located. In my case, I landed in Washington, DC when I came to the US for the first time though my university is in Philadelphia. I was questioned on the same and I was able to justify the CBP officer why I picked IAD as my POE instead of PHL. He was fine based on my response as my friend was in DC area and he was there to pick me up. Of course, there were some follow-up questions and I was able to answer all of his questions (answered honestly)… It depends on lot of factors for rejection at POE and ultimately, deportation. Generalizing POE was the reason behind deportation isn’t right in my opinion. People might complain that ORD is difficult for H1 and F1 immigration, but IAD being the capitol isn’t easy either based on my experience. But, as long as you’re honest and can prove the same, you’re all good!!
Its called 'Refusal of Entry' NOT Deportation. Deportation is something when they remove you from inside the US.
Sameer himself gave scope for them to suspect his integrity by not registering for Orientation classes in University, Did not show any Accommodation in Uni and there is no flight ticket from Chicago to Uni. All these aspects created doubt whether he is coming for studies or to do any Job in Chicago ? We should not Blame them.

He did not get proper guidance. As Yash said post visa orientation is important either thru consultant or experts. Visa vaste we can land in US ane wrond perception put him in trouble I guess. If he follow properly then it wouldn't have a problem. Address, accommodation, tution fee.,. Lot of things made them suspect sameer. All the best Sameer. Samir’s statement about CBP officers is not true. In Chicago the government treats very well even the homeless. They provide food and shelter.
If he is going for a masters program, CBP might have suspected from his English skills.

Actual ga border agents chaala friendly ga untaru manalni professionals laaga treat chestharu. Advice kuuda istharu , client location ki velloddhu only employer location lone job cheyyalani advice istharu H1B or TN visa holders ki, I applied for one year TN visa but the border agent asked whether you need three years. They were so respectful and treated very well , they even told we are happy to have you here when entering the USA, I'm not sure why they are treating students. The main reason is some colleges are not worthy of studying, and areas like Wisconsin have less job opportunities , chicago has more. This guy could have told he will be staying in Wisconsin and could have paid reg fees or initial payment before orientation. Staying in Chicago might be getting in a conclusion that the guy will be working in Chicago without joining the college since he did not pay the reg fee. In whatsapp chat there shd not be any political news of usa canada, shared with friends, shd not discuss about political leaders in social media.
The student is at fault here. CBP did the right thing, just like any elderly person in family does when things are not shared with clarity.

It is not advisable to Samir to go to USA again, keeping in mind that he will get job. Now a days more than 2 lakh students are coming to USA. Getting a job will be difficult, the chances will be less than 5%, that is 9ne out of 20 only.

Is it paid coverage ?
I am sure that the students whoever is coming to US are not coming with interest to study. That's the reason they fumble in an interview. But they don't reveal the facts when something goes wrong. Another thing is why would anyone come Un prepared without an accommodation and paying the fee though they have an opportunity to pay the fee. People living in India blindly believes the students who say something.

Sameer needs to learn to have clarity in every detail he writes in the forms and what he speaks. He must think from their point of view too. Those immigration officers see several Indian students arriving into the country with an intention of working illegally, some without proper documents and some with loose ends ( in their opinion) just as Sameer didn’t register in the univ or booked any dorm accommodation. Having visa based on university’s acceptance of seat means nothing when one doesn’t show proof of registration or any such esp when he tells them unnecessarily that he will be staying for a short while in Chicago. May be if he mentioned that he’s heading for the univ after disembarking in Chicago, perhaps this wouldn’t have happened . Well, once again, Sameer seems very naive to understand what innocently his conveying facts were interpreted by them as he though is not keen on getting into the University but using it to just enter the US . Hope he realizes what and why things have gone wrong and not to repeat such blunders again whichever country he tries for. All the best to him.

1. Never heard of this Concordia university. It is definitely not one of the top universities in US.
2. His English is very poor. He doesn’t sound like an educated person that is a concern regarding his education documents might be not real.
2. He went to Saudi Arabia before US. That’s a concern as most of the people in US think that “jihadi” ideas are brewed there.
3. It’s not true that you pay or get accommodations after the orientation. Even picking all the classes and roommates in dorms are all done way before orientation in all US universities. This is a big red flag in a person that doesn’t even sound educated or confident even in this video and can only imagine how worse did he sound in front of the officers.
4. Even if he is talking about renting apartments, the leases for apartments are signed several months(at least 6months or more) before moving date.
5. There are many red flags. Most students from India who show educational credentials are not even capable of behaving like adults and that’s by itself can raise concern that they may have showed false credentials or at worse concern that they could’ve been brainwashed into “jihad” type of anti American propaganda.

This is a very bad treatment. Never ever go to the US. Who paid for your return ticket? Upfront in the US embassy all such points need to be checked instead of creating a panic situation to SAMEER at the border

Mr.Sameer don't get discouraged. First you should know that you have to pay first 1st semester fee and got accommodations in the university itself. But some body may be guided different way. You have everything but you did not show your interest to follow usa university basic rules. Don't thing negative way but give parents first and take their advice. I also visited usa on b1 and b2 visa. You are so lucky boy that you have good future. God bless you.
