I'm 70 years old and I quit caring about what other people think about me a long time ago. Whether you like me or you don't, I stay true to myself and try to be my best self everyday.
This is a FANTASTIC video! I'm going to watch it again and then I'm going to share it with my teenagers. Two points I absolutely LOVED: 1) "People are much more comfortable criticizing others than doing what it takes to minimize their own insecurities." That was a mic drop moment for sure! 2) "Sometimes what we think others are thinking, is not accurate at all." So true! Thanks for continuing to create such helpful and timely content! Your channel is a HUGE blessing to me and many others!
I love that this resonated with you Andrea! I’m glad you enjoyed it and I’m hope your teens find value in it as well. Keep growing! I’m rooting for you!!
This video honestly came at a good time... Sometimes, caring about what others think (especially what family members think) of me is a symptom of a bigger issue within my train of thought, especially when those thoughts are ones of worry or negativity. Thank you for these valuable insights
Wise words here. I had reached a point of not caring what others thought about me, but then a divorce and it’s aftermath shook my foundations to where I overcompensated the other way. Trying to gain self confidence again is taking a long time. You’re on to something here. May need to watch this video regularly until it sinks in.
Thank you Ron! This is exactly what I needed today. I'm a pro at criticizing myself and allowing other people's opinions to sway my choices. I realize that now and am slowly learning to not care what people think about me. Thank you for the reminder and tips! I really enjoy your channel.
I work with younger people. Funny thing is, that they have the same insecurities I had at their age as I still have today at my age. So I am constantly trying to lift them up to go beyond the bull.
I love this and yes but as one gets older the what people think is not important. It’s are you happy at the end of the day. The past four years I have cultivated my own tribe of people that raise and praise me. We are all supportive of each other and help that person shine in their own right
Thank you Ronald. I can't tell you how much I needed to hear this at the moment. I've watched your videos for a while now but this is my first time commenting. I just wanted to say that you have a lovely presence and a beautiful way of expressing yourself. Thank you for all you do and warmest blessings sent to you 🙏💯💕🌱
Your channel is probably the quickest I have ever subscribed to… your advice is so relatable, useful, and insightful… and your voice is very calming. Glad you popped up on my recommended. Keep up the good work 👍🏼
Welcome to the community Andrea! I’m happy you decided to subscribe! If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask. Would love to share more content to help you on your journey!
This is sooo good! We have extended family members who fit this category. I shared this video with my older girls. Thank you for saying it just so!! Such wisdom!! Keep it coming!!
Hi Ron! Your dad's saying is a bit more charming than mine, which mentions a body part a bit further down! 😛😛😛 I think as I've got older, I care less and less about what others think. I used to be a people pleaser but now, as long as it harms no-one, I please myself. It's a shame I've had to reach this stage later in life, but I got there in the end! Have a good week!
I think I need to come back to this video... like once a day lol. I have this colleague that keeps making me feel bad and ruins my day. I need to think like you do and stop letting other people have that kind of influence over me... especially since I don't even know what they actually think or feel and I'm probably just assuming by the way they come across. Thank you!
Dear Ronald, Due to some family issues, I consider myself to be at my lowest mental state. But, whenever I watch your videos (specially this one) I feel so good and happy about myself. Thanks for impacting my life with this much positivity. You just keep doing this. I pray for your health and safety. Thank YOU
Another great conversation friend! Love the idea of being true to yourself. It took me way to long in life to realize that most people's opinions about me had way more to do with them and their issues than it had to do with me. I always appreciate your thoughts. Thanks for sharing!🙂
In school it was hard to find friends and keep them. I was an outsider and tried for many years to be one of the others. But I had no success. I was raised in a very rural area in Germany and after the 10th grade I went to another school in a small city and guess what? For the first time in school the other students showed me their respect and treated me like a normal person and not like someone who has an infectious disease. I began to create a new "me". I've worn clothes which made me look a bit eccentric and I loved it. I began to grow interest in nerd hobbies and I was not ashamed of. :) That was such a wonderful school time and helped me to find myself. My tribe now is a very nerdy tribe - we live all in different parts of Germany, but we gather on a Discord server. We watch gameplay streams some of us are making, we play roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons (and the german equivalent "Das Schwarze Auge"), talk about games, movies, series, actors, books, cooking and video games. We also talk about problems and fears very openly and no one is laughing. It really helps us through this pandemic situation.
So timely Ronald! I was just talking about this topic with a colleague today. Find a community who supports, inspires and gives constructive criticism/feedback and let go of the others.
Growing up my mother used to tell me that I shouldn't care about other people's opinions, because they don't pay my bills and have no real tangible influence over my life. However, in recent years I've come to an even deeper understanding, which is rooted in the very core of nature of the human being. Human beings are inherently fallible, this is apparent by the successive failed societies and lost cultures throughout history. Some say that those lost societies are due to humans inability at finding a successful socioeconomic system. This belief though is not in line with humans" biological nature, which is to seek the path of least resistance. The path of least resistance is the one that most comfortable, which is a hyper-emotional ideology. Therefore, even if human beings had at some point in history discovered a successful socioeconomic system, they would have eventually rejected it because it went against their emotions. Worry of other's opinions is also known as man worship, because if one wasn't worshipping people, one wouldn't allow people to influence them. And that worry, is solely due to hyper-emotionalism, which is the core root of all human beings' failures. Constructive thinking is the only solution to this problem. Yet, constructive thinking is a very problematic ideology, because it forces a person to have to accept certain uncomfortable truths. Truths not only about themselves, but also their family, friends and the overall society. Taking up the constructive path will also result in some losses, because even if one as adopted a constructive mindset, it's not likely that those around them will. It can be very lonely being of a constructive mindset, especially in the early stages. The long term benefits of constructive thinking, in compairison to the long term losses of non-constructive thinking, are what one should keep as their main focus.
I think most opinions people have are based on emotions and not logic, facts or reason. So when people start arguing or stating their opinions I just leave, nowadays it is virtually impossible to have an open discussion about anything.
Wow Ron this video is very powerful. We like which you said about the shoes. To give a pair of your old shoes they may fit or not. I know that's not exactly what you said.👍🌲❤
Great video. Enjoyed hearing all of them. Always keep growing and learning and lift others up. Also your dad made a very true statement.... Keep up the great positivity.
I guess you have to care what people do or say in the first place… that’s why social media is just fuel for those who do and really not worth the time in one’s day.
For someone who is recovering from an eating disorder ( and of course all of its sides, i.e anxiety, depression, obsessing with others' thoughts), this video is awesome. have written down all the tips. Thanks a lot.
I too only gain weight when things are going well. When things are not....the only thing I can do is control my intake of food. So I still struggle with food and weight gain.
@@tamramoore8377 Thoroughly understand you. My only advice to you is to never losing hope. Keep fighting, don't ever listen to any toxic culture tells you that you are unworthy, or that your value is dependent on your body or shape. Thank you for this! My Mother in law is a Narcissist and has been critizing me, Making up lies about me and attacking me.
