This is kind of a longer comment because I'm stuck in a dilemma, I'm not good at ark and I don't really have a lot of knowledge about it but my friends have been wanting to play it together and make a server which is great, however it's not the first time. Ever since they got me to buy the game in 2021 we have made on and off attempts at playing the game wether it be pve, pvp, official or private servers and I never enjoyed the game, but I really really want to, I wanna enjoy the game and play it with my friends but each time we played it either it got to a point where I didn't know how to progress and what to do or have completely lost everything valuable to me which made me quit, the building in the game is also really frustrating for me, I wanna be able to make some cool builds and stuff for us but I feel like I never can because of how clunky and limiting it feels for me, like pillars just over time decaying and getting destroyed. It usually looked like the first 5 hours being getting resources all the basic stuff and a nice house or base and then either getting completely stuck, not knowing how to progress or where to go or just having everything lost. It's not even that I don't like survival games, I really enjoy the majority it them but something about every time I tried out ark went wrong, maybe it's because the start of it takes way too long just for everything to get lost? Or maybe it's because none of us is too knowledgeable? I know a question of "how to enjoy ark" or "how to get into ark" might sound dumb and hard to anwser but you seem really passionate about it so I hope I can find a solution. It doesn't help that I have very heavy guilt over spending money I don't feel like I have gotten the value out of
This game is very complicated, maybe try planing everything ahead, if you cannot yet then reasearch into the game so you can plan ahead. When you do you can be more ready preventing deaths and it reduces the chance of getting stuck in the future
