    yup, it's a pain getting the carb out. Thank you for your help! It's so much better SEEING someone do it, rather than relying on a poorly written manual.

    I bought a 99 and im intimidated to take apart.carbs overflow so very plugged..sat 5 years bad gas.the battery positive is backwards..its inside..negative outside.what guage wire can i run to outside for boosting.im feeding carb cleaner in hopes of freeing crud to get it running,at least.your videos are excellant.thkyou

    • @MidlandCruiser
      @MidlandCruiser Рік тому +1

      Hello. If it was sitting with bad petrol inside for 5 years, than it will be very hard to clean it and get it running right, without stripping it to the last washer and clean it properly. Trying to just spray in cleaner in my opinion will only loose up the dirt which will then clog every little hole even more...possibly.
      As for the cables, the positive is inside and the negative is outside so that should be ok. Running an extra cable to the negative from the reg/rec can be beneficial, I would at least run a 2mm² one or bigger.

    • @MidlandCruiser
      @MidlandCruiser 3 роки тому +2

      @John Czirjak Thank you. One of my earlier videos show how I cleaned my friend's carb, and a Virago would be basically the same... Always strip it back to the last bolt, and clean it with ultrasonic cleaner, if you don't have one then spray and brush... About the setting up, I will make a syncing video later on and might do a pilot setup as well but not sure when, need better weather because I want to do it outside... Thank you for the suggestion 👍

    • @MidlandCruiser
      @MidlandCruiser Рік тому

      Hello and welcome into the bike world. Tuning carbs are not easy, many times you do it by feel and sound after a ride, unless you have a dyno, then you'll have data.
      As a general rule all I can say if only 1 is running then more than likely it is dirty so need cleaning then set everything back to stock and go from there. But you'll need experience to know which way to go unfortunately, which I can't really explain..sorry
      1. Clean them
      2. Back to stock, and see how it runs.
      Hope this helps a little

    Friend..can you tell why when you start the ignition, the tube that is above the carburetor pours gasoline?

    • @MidlandCruiser
      @MidlandCruiser Рік тому +2

      That is caused by a stuck float because the valve can't close and the fuel comes out on the overflow pipe. Tap it gently with a screwdriver handle and that should help, if not then maybe stripping and cleaning required..

      @@MidlandCruiser and I have to hit where with the screwdriver?

    • @MidlandCruiser
      @MidlandCruiser Рік тому +1

      Gently at the bottom of the carb where the fuel is inside. Don't be too gentle because then it won't work, but not too strong to damage anything.

    • @MidlandCruiser
      @MidlandCruiser Рік тому +1

      If you refet to the cable on the top than that is the choke cable, the other one on this side is for the tps sensor and in 92' they didn't have that. You may find that yours has a vacuum operated little box above the ignition coils, the 2 part does the same (adjust ignition timing) but a different way

    • @Augcliffe
      @Augcliffe Рік тому

      @@MidlandCruiser how where you able to get the original boot bolts off before adding different ones?

  • @adrianbozie
    @adrianbozie 3 роки тому

    hi yep your doing it wrong, it take 5 minuets and 15 secs, but you have to take the both the boots off and all four bolts compleately out, i use a impact drill with a 10mill low profile socket on a quarter inch drive shaft, 6 inch long my fastest time is 5 mins to put them back on and hook everything back on and start the bike, all the best coolade, las vegas
