I have to say, I enjoy the fact that this movie doesn't make Wendy a villain. Yes, she's an obstacle to the protagonists, but that's not her fault. She seems like a genuinely nice person, she's just not the right one for Matt, because he and Jenna belong together
But this one does. The true villain is actually Lucy aka Tom-Tom because she has been bullying Jenna since childhood and is now her co-worker at Poise. She tries throughout the entire film to usurp Jenna's position as head editor by pretending to be her friend so she can secretly sabotage her and destroy her. She's the real threat, not Wendy
That's right. Jenna made her wish (choice) and our choices do indeed have consequences! Wendy was a nice but wasn't right for Matt. I think he was settling for her. Jenna was very fortunate to have been able to undo her earlier wish so she could be with Matt. Jenna needed to not judge a book by its cover.
I think it was done intentionally to have him be a bit ditzy and naturally happy. He’s oblivious to the fact Jenna is clearly into Matty in this scene. With his happy carefree demeanor, when him and Jenna broke up (or if he ever found out about her cheating) he would probably be sad for a short time and then go be happy and in a good mood. He’s able to bounce back.
Yeah also did you notice Matt was acting strange when Wendy came back from wherever she was. Scene Hey I didnt expect to see you in....Wendy? What are you doing here Why were you expecting someone else No why When Wendy kissed Matt he knew in his heart that he really loved Jenna all along. Notice he was jealous too of Alec.
Didn't realize until now that Wendy, Matt's fiance, looks and acts so much like Jenna. So, Matt couldn't get the real thing, but knew he wanted a girl just like that. Wow.
He explains it near the end of the movie, right before he marries Wendy. He explains to Jenna, "You don't always get the perfect house that you dreamed of, but you get awfully close." Then he says, "Jenna, I've always loved you."
He even said it in the movie "you know Jenna, you don't always get your dream house, but you get the closest to one" or something like that. I meant to me that he never stopped thinking about her, but he learned to move on.
Sorta right down to the innocent persona. Question though (and this is a spoiler btw). When Jenna went back in time to be with Matt,I wonder did Wendy hook up with Alex Carson. I have a feeling she did just like Nancy(Idina Menzel) from Enchanted hooking up with Prince Edward (James Marsden).
I like how Matt took a dig back at Lucy commenting to him “You lost all your baby fat, how’s the beeves stay warm in the winter?” with “I almost didn’t recognize you. Did you get a nose job?”

I have a theory that Jenna had a mental breakdown after her 30th birthday and reverted to a childlike state. She didn’t like the person she had become and deluded herself into thinking she could go back in time to when she last felt innocent. The final point of her delusion is when she makes a grand gesture to go and get Matt but is rejected, at which point she goes outside with her dollhouse and fantasizes about a timeline in which the two of them get married and live happily ever after.
It could be.. but it happened in reverse she was 13 and time travelled to her 30's and showed how her life is because of her choices as she had a chance to change it when went back to being 13
Wow that is a dark theory but I like it, maybe when it showed she was 13 in the beginning of the movie (she was dreaming of being 13 again while at her 30 year-old self).
