You forgot the most legendary meme: *PINGAS!* But yeah, this video really did help, since I'm writing a book series with lots of memes involved. However, since writing books can occasionally be super slow, I have given up the idea to use *only* fresh memes in them. They will probaply consist of some semi-old, old, or dead memes, because by the time I publish a book, majority of the memes used in it have probaply already been replaced. (However, they will also have memes I make specifically for my stories). But yeah, great video! And the ending was *glorious* with Luke ranting how Sans should be playable character in smash. 😂 And I agree! Don't play smash myself, but have watched gameplay of it, and the world can *never* have too much Undert- *Dies because of WW3 that started in UA-cam comment sections for mentioning Undertale.*

@@lukcdk Ya, he was everywhere. Even in places I didn't want to see him. Take it from a Splatoon fan; back when MiiVerse was still supported, the Splatoon section was overrun by this guy. All over the walls in Inkopolis Plaza. Wasn't too thrilled about the Mii Costume in Smash Ultimate either. But memes have gotten much better since then, so it's best we don't let our negativity for Sans get the best of us.

I really miss the 2010-2014 memes, for me that's the true memes era and what really made them great was that everybody could relate with them and put him/herself in that situation. When they started becoming popular many people didn't know what a meme is but when they see their 1st meme they instantly clicked with it and thought "oh shit I can actually relate to that". It was about ridiculous situations that you wouldn't share with many people because you thought it's weird, but when you saw the memes you realized that it actually happens to many people and it's not just you. There was the template "what normal people do/think" and "what I do/think" and it made you feel normal because you see that the ridiculous situation is actually a common/normal thing. And most importantly the point of the memes wasn't to make fun of somebody specifically, but to the whole situation and how ridiculous it is, sometimes without even realizing it until you see it. Nowadays memes are the opposite - most of them are either just random shit that makes no sense (and apparently that's funny) or targeting a specific community that people who are not familiar with won't really relate to it or understand it and if you don't, you basically become a new meme for other people to laugh about it. That's the other thing, lots of memes are made to directly mock some people or community, very often for just something random thing they did or said. That's one of the biggest differences, old memes brought people closer even if they didn't know each other, now it divides them. There are literally people who dedicate their free time (or even their whole time) to argue and make fun of other people for using different/old memes like it's some kind of turf war.
For me the Leroy Jenkins meme is relatable because at some point we had a moment when even if we weren't planning a strategy to victory, someone always goes gung-ho into the action only to get himself killed and many other times get everyone killed.
So for example, if I comment "veemo", everyone will think "yes, this is Splatoon octo expansion" yes? another example, if I comment "nope" will everyone think tf2? Yes. Because that's how meme popularity work
People overuse memes and they become dead, but people like you give them life again because you make them funny without the part that kills them. What I mean is, your old videos have aged really well considering they have memes from each era :D
