After being at the concert and now studying Jackie's movements, it's clear to me that goes back and forth from 10 year child to a sort of trance type fearless singer who embraces each song and uses facial expressions and hand movements to interpret her emotional feelings of each song. When there is a break in the song or at the of the song, the 10 year old child re-emerges. She is so humble that she is truly surprised when the audience claps very loud or gives her a standing ovation that she do

The critics have to understand, it doesn't matter if she has imperfections in technique, enunciation...whatever. The bottom line is...you can't produce any professional opera singer...or any other singer for that matter, who can affect people like Jackie Evancho does. Who is clamoring to these "skilled" singers' concerts? Infact, they have been turning people off for years. Jackie has brought more people, of all ages, to appreciate classical music than any opera singer I know of lately.

I feel a kindred spirit with Jackie. I understand her love for singing and how it affects her. There is a zone. Where lift off takes place and your soul soars. She yearns for this. She is a person of substance. She is aware, alive and possessed with a heart of pure gold.
Everything you hear on your computer or through your TV or Stereo has come through microphones and been converted into an electronic signal, stored, transmitted and reproduced. It is the magic of our time. The only exception is a live performance and for a crossover artist that is not even true. Maximum acoustical audience was reached in opera houses around the turn of the century and performers learned how to be heard by perfecting their singing technique. Jackie does a superb job non-the-less.
Why has the media not mentioned anything of such an incredible performance ? With all the mundane and inane things that the media loves to talk about, its a pity that nothing has been mentioned about this (IMHO) groundbreaking performance. Is the world deaf and blind to such beauty as exemplified by this amazing child...

This song really didn't really spoke to me when I heard it sung rather than played with the Oboe. Neither Sarah Brightman nor anyone else who I have heard sing this song was able to deliver to me the beauty of the original Gabriel's Oboe. Till I heard Jackie! I still think that it sounds its best on the oboe, but Jackie is the only one who have come close to the spirit and the sound of the original (wondering if Hayley Westenra will have it on her new album)... Incredibly passionate singing!
This little girl, is a gift from heaven. To save the deteriorating standard for music these days. Now, all we here is autotune-style singing with a computerized beat and backgrounding yapping. Sometimes its good to be old. Because its where REAL MUSIC exists. And Jackie's voice, flows harmony.

Reading the complaints about Jackie, it seems that opera singers seem to prize this trait about themselves above all else. They train and train so that they can be heard singing in large vengues without a microphone. And from some clips I've seen, they seem to take disproportionate pride over this at the expense of everything else, like subtlety or beauty. Some opera singers sound like screeching cats. It reminds me of when you see those bulked out contestants in muscle building competitions.
@DamageIncM You couldn't be more wrong. There are a lot of cute children who can sing. But they don't project from that deep place. This is what is so incredible about Miss Evancho. Beneath the gentle stream of a young girl...runs a flood.

They can't ignore this little Lady forever. In the meantime we can just enjoy Jackie and her God given talents. I have never been so impressed with anyone in my life as I am with Jackie.
This girl is amazing. Two bits of advice though. First, breathe more from the diaphragm. if your shoulders rise that much, you're breathing too much from your lungs. Second, always make sure the gestures you use have a meaning. The emotion is amazing, especially from such a young singer. She has a very bright future ahead of her.
@DocDLH Lisa E has addressed the subject of what music is chosen for Jackie many times. Per Lisa, Jackie and her trainers know Jackie's vocal limits, and don't push past them. Jackie has some of the best people in the field beside her. They'd never let her hurt her voice.

@tube7562 You are witnessing a changing of the guard in classical music. The old guard is resisting to no avail. The news media is the last one to get the message on something like this. They can't ignore this little Lady forever. In the meantime we can just enjoy Jackie and her God given talents. I have never been so impressed with anyone in my life as I am with Jackie.

But once it zooms out, you realize just how small she is in that big building.
This girl is amazing. Two bits of advice though. First, breathe more from the diaphragm. if your shoulders rise that much, you're breathing too much from your lungs. Second, always make sure the gestures you use have a meaning. The emotion is amazing, especially from such a young singer. She has a very bright future ahead of her.

Lisa E has addressed the subject of what music is chosen for Jackie many times. Per Lisa, Jackie and her trainers know Jackie's vocal limits, and don't push past them. Jackie has some of the best people in the field beside her. They'd never let her hurt her voice.

Jackie's parents have given Papa their blessings as far as posting all of Jackie's performances from her Houston concert - except Nessun Dorma. They specifically asked him to NOT post that one. Lisa Evancho posted that message on the Amazon.com forum yesterday.
Stktrader11- thank you for reenforcing my analysis. I believe this how she is unique. I see her get feedback as the 10 year old multiple times from her mother but when singing she is so into the song there is no need to look for reenforcement. She has so much confidence while she sings but reverts back to Jackie the 10 year old when done. I a
