Nice! I'm shooting the 210gr out of my 338 win mag. Took a moose with it last week at 65 yards and recovered the bullet. I have it posted on the Nosler forum.
I've been running the 250 partition for years and it's worked great on elk, moose, brown bears, eland etc. Handloads at 2820fps. I believe the 210 partition would be just as effective.
Wonderful rifle. A lot of people use 200 and 225 grain bullets in the 338, but if you're going to use lighter bullets, you may as well have a 300 win mag. You have the bullet that makes the 338 the excellent Big game cartridge that it is. That would be my choice also. Nice video.
Didn’t see any lead in the front end of the water jug bullet, looks like the front half of the Partition broke off which is typical of the Partition design. I own a Ruger No. 1 in .338 Win. Mag & the Nosler Partition is my favorite big game bullet so I really enjoyed this test!
Robert Nation “ You can’t shoot them fast but you can shoot them well.” Bill Ruger on the No1 a classic and much respect to the guys that hunt with one. I am a bolt action guy but next on the list is a single shot.🇨🇦🤠
Great performance by Nosler! Fantastic! That would do the job. I'm thinking of a neck shot on the Cape Buffalo in Africa. BUT, I believe the local game laws there still demand you use a .40 caliber or larger!
Really like your video. That thing is like a .30-06 beefed up. Awesome hunting round forsure, but im having a hard time deciding between .338, and .375. Whats the biggest rifle you have?
What a beautiful classic rifle and load. Theres no denying the 338 win in that 250gr load for anything walking the Alaskan landscape. My nephew has the same rifle and it smashes elk flat. Ive got the newer Ruger compact rifle in 338RCM and i love the shorter form factor, less weight, and fit of the rifle. Also have a Hawkeye m77 30-06 and 270 win i shot and mine are all left handed.
Chuck that is one helluva awesome rifle. Chuke's loss your gain. That brake made it look like you were shooting a powder puff round in lieu of a 338 Win Mag. Nice score dude.
at least with my chronograph (not the same one but can't remember what kind it is right now) those vertical bars with the shade on it aren't really necessary unless its really sunny out. I set mine up one time without those sun blockers but it was under a bit of shade from the overhand and it wasn't reading my shots. I moved it a couple feet further out on and it picked it all up. Perhaps your chronograph is getting too much "shade"? I know the other time that it gets funny readings is if the sun is at goofy angles, like low in the sky at dawn or dusk. I don't live in Alaska and you would know better than me but I assume you guys have some irregular (different than lower 48) sun patterns, maybe this was the issue? Thanks for the video. I know those things are expensive, but I use 165 partitions in my.308 and they are spectacular, an old technology but one that is a gold standard for others to be compared
One of my favorite cartridges! Almost got one when I was younger and thought about moose hunting. Be a little overkill for the whitetail and black bear I hunt now 😁
I think if I were ever to test a bullet against cinder blocks I might put a piece of cardboard between the blocks. It might prevent the weight of the block from causing the destruction of the following block and actually show if the bullet went through the cardboard or possibly a big piece of block along with the bullet.
I have a Ruger 77 stainless chambered in 35 whelen. Have you done a test of the 35 whelen nosler ammo with the 225 gr accubond? How about the 225 partition?
My 340 weatherby is more expensive. If u need to get velocity readings bring your 22 for some cheap test runs through the chrony. I've had the same thing happen before.
I made a light setup for my chronograph, with a battery powered tube lamp strapped to the diffusers. With a constant light source it eliminated my false readings.
No Bro the front half of the partition DID seperate from the core, which is typical for partition bullets. In every test I can remember the front half of partition bullets loose the front lead core. So you can only count on partitions to hold half the original weight upon impact--I'd rather trust an old Core Lokt , or Federal blue box that are reportedly loaded with Speer Hot Cor's, or better yet Barnes Tipped T SX ammo. Partitions are past their prime, they're accurate, but too much of a loss of power.
"$3 dollar a shot and no read", I had to laugh because I also own that chronograph and I got rid of it a few years ago because as time went on, it was having the same issue.
Have you ever tried the trophy bonded bear Claw 225 grain ammunition? I just picked up a few boxes for moose hunting. I heard that that ammunition is very good.
hey Alaskan Ballistics BJ here hope you all had a great Thanksgiving Day & Dinner we had a great one :D nice Ruger Rifle i like and reccommend Ruger Firearms from Pistols Rifles and Carbines if i choose to go buy a High Caliber Rifle besides a .45-70 Uberti High-Wall Single-Shot i would like like to go with a Old Winchester Model 71 in .348 Winchester or a Winchester Model 70 in .375 H&H question is do you thinkg the .375 H&H a good Bear Hunting or Defense Rifle???????
The 375 is popular amongst Alaskans for that purpose. I have a 45-70 marlin for defense... most people use a hard 12gauge slug. I prefer something quicker shooting than a bolt action. A .338 federal Ar-10 with 210gr barnes would be ideal to me... 2800-3000 ft lbs, good brake would have decent flow up shot speed

No jacket separation? It completely shed the front core. That’s exactly why I never use any form of Nosler. You do know there was supposed to be lead in the front of that right?
The jacket didn't separate. The lead in the front gets smushed down as the bullet expands. That's how the bullet is designed. Jacket separation means that the core and jacket completely come apart.
That front chunk of lead inside the jacket is also part of the core, btw. That’s still close to 50% loss. In its day, that was better performance than the norm. Swift A frames took a good idea and made it to its full potential.
Myths die slowly-At high velocities Nosler Partitions, a 1960’s top bullet, shedding the front lead section reduces the residual mass to 50-70% of the original unfired mass. Compare the reduced Nosler mass to new premium bullets retaining 95%+ and a better relative comparison results. The pseudo science involving such is amazing.
@@AlaskanBallistics The ammo shortage is terrible. Im in BC Canada so that’s probably why Im paying so much. I guess Im fortunate to get the box I bought last weekend. Even at $5 per round Canadian dollars
