- Here is a video that is it's own kind of October Horror video by itself!!!
On the video I show part of my prised vinyl collection that got water damaged a few years ago and I couldn't bring myself to look through it before!!
Apologies to vinyl lovers for the horrors you will see in this video and if anybody has any solutions or advice going forward I was be really appreciative
This is like watching the scariest horror movie. I'm so sorry to hear that this has happened to your collection John. I can only imagine how devastated u wore.
It was such a hard thing to do, but I know it's got to be done unfortunately 😱😖 only saving grace is that the vinyl seems OK and I still have some vinyl that wasn't damaged! But yeah body blow x10 Keith 🥺🥺😭😭👍👍

Hi John Sorry to here about your Record Collection I know how gutted you must fell.
I hope the Records them self's turn out to be ok. The only thing I can think of is to see if you can find a cover site on the net or Discogs save the cover's and see if you can get them printed out LP size and put them in the Plastic LP Protective Sleave's you can get from HMV. i Hope this helps.
Yeah super gutted Brian 🥶🥶😵💫😵💫 I think the records will be ok (mostly 🤞🤞) I think I might try and look for replacement versions of my most loved ones (I've found one yesterday) 😁😁 it'll be a looooonngggg journey though 😬😬🤣 yeah I'm plastic sleeving every new vinyl up now Brian 😁😁😁👍👍👍
Oh John! I feel for your utter despair, your beautiful vinyl collection damaged beyond repair. I'm a big OMD fan and seeing you show your collection of OMD on 10" and 12" was great but heartbreaking to see them damaged. I like that you remain still upbeat by saying "It is what it is". I hope you will be able to replace them eventually. Record companies have a habit of reissuing singles and albums. I managed to buy all the Madness albums in vinyl thanks to BMG reissuing their back catalogues but I still got my original albums I will never sell them as they are part of my teenage years and nothing can ever take that away from me. Apart from that I really enjoy your video postings, you come across genuine. You are doing a great job. Thanks John.

Really appreciate your kind words 😊😊👍👍 I must admit it wasn't easy finding these damaged, must have happened about 10 years ago and it's taken me till now to get to them....must have put it off a thousand times 😵💫 but gotta move on and I do think I'll be able to save most of the vinyl 🤞🤞🤞 I might try and get the covers off ebay but probably I'm just going to settle for the vinyl scrubbed up 🤔👍also need to get me a decent turntable as my one isn't playing the right speed (probably the belts) but it'll be a pure nostalgia trip when I get them cleaned and bagged 🤩🤩👍👍 thanks for your advice as well mate and thanks for watching 😊😊👍👍

UA-cam is becoming my go to channel as I find the BBC has gone too WOKE and I used to be a big Saturday evening viewer but the BBC show shite shows now. Back in the 80s John I had a nice vinyl collection . Which I had left at my parents house when I moved into my first flat. Unfortunately are house got flooded as did most of our town. The vinyl never got wet but my late father god bless him put the central heating on full blast to dry the house and of course my entire collection was warped 😩😩😩

Hi John. I still always find records and LPs at markets and Carboots so never say never just need to get yourself up at the crack of dawn.
I keep meaning to mooch around them, used to do a lot of that back in the day...might keep an eye out for some sleeves for this lot Darren 😁👍👍👍👍
John my good man, this is me on my new account after I got a deal a week ago on a newer iPhone & revamped my laptop. I'm truly very, very much so sorry my good man. REALLY!! That is simply heart breaking & tragic as I'm also a music lover as you know. 😢😢😢Just absolutely devastating!!! Though I pretty much just collect CD editions, if anything happened to them, I would feel the _EXACT_ same loss now. Ugh!!! 😭😭😭

Hey John, I had a similar situation with about 20 of my records. The good news is that after cleaning them with warm soapy water they all played perfectly with no background noise. Get new inner sleeves for them if you can. I have all of those OMD singles you showed and a lot more, I would be gutted if they got damaged. I have the Sparks album Number One In Heaven on yellow vinyl, the album sounded great after cleaning but the sleeve is in a similar state as some of your damaged ones. Take care mate. Gaz.

DAMN, this is frightening to see & a total nightmare when you build a collection of memories of some of our fav genres of music.
My music collection is 90% cds which for me saves space, the vinyl editions that i do have i"ve kept in plastic sleeves, & i"d love to of kept my original vinyl records but its space for me, despite knowing the real value on vinyl & music does sound vastly better on record material.
I"m sorry to hear this has happened & obviously hope you can save some of your collection & get some playing worth out of it.

Love it. I used to collect vinyl as well. It's true what they say people who collect, don't just collect one thing.
Vinyl was such a huge thing for me....then obviously cds, but once you start collecting something, then your hooked.....for life mate 🤔😁😁👍👍

Actually some of them are cleaning up really well Mark, I'm currently looking into getting plastic covers for the "saved" vinyl, but the covers are toast sadly 😵💫😵💫👍👍

This really is a hard watch. I've been collecting vinyl since my teens and that includes 13 years old during the late 60's onwards. Albums and singles, for many years and even when cds appeared I was reluctant to buy any, until record stores gave me no choice. When I was still living at my parents my collection of albums were on shelves next to an outside wall...and we got damp in that corner. It got to just 4 albums. 2 on each shelf. I was gutted at only 4 damaged. The albums did play. I love my collection and have some very rare. I am watching this and winching at the very thought. So sorry this has happened John. Regards Jim.
Thanks Jim, great back story to your collecting mate, I don't think anybody sets out to damage their collection and when your kids you don't really think about things like damp, still I should of known better and its such a shame these are like this as I used to paw over them all the time! @@MondoChelloveckMovies When vinyl was stopped and it was cd's only I did give in, but at the same time there was a 2nd hand vinyl store near me that I went to regularly, and got some excellent bargains really cheep in great condition....and while there, people were coming in selling theirs. They were selling their collection because it was out of fashion. I spoke to many who also sold their turntables etc. It's all cd now. Vinyls are yesterdays old 78's. I wonder how many now are sick they did that ? I still have my turntable I bought when I was 18 in 1974, and the same amp & speakers ..made to last. I wont buy new vinyl. I wont pay what they are asking. I don't need to anyway. I got most of the 60's & 70's etc albums I want. I even bought cd's of the same albums ... the remastered ones & I downloaded my cd collection, but it's always vinyl that is really in my heart. Cheers John ! Regards Jim.

Oh Jesus John 😢 thisxeas painful to watch - when you pulled that Armed And Dangerous E.P. out I died a little inside. I had that year's ago, what an amazing record it is, I've been looking for it again for a few year's now - this is awful, I definitely feel your pain mate 💔

Big hoof in the nads this one mate!! 😖 as you can see I got Armed and Dangerous on import and I had some amazing Anthrax stuff, they were my favourite big four band back in the day mate 🤘 yeah it's going to be such a bummer separating these ones mate, it seems like ones better than the next when I look at them Nige 🤯🤯🥶🥶😱😱 at least I think they will play though 🤞🤞
@@MondoChelloveckMovies That's the only way you could get Armed And Dangerous mate, it was only a US pressing. I'm still absolutely gutted for you John honestly, it's horrible seeing stuff like this. I think it's actually worse when you think of all the years you've owned these records and obviously very well looked after them and then something as stupid as poxy water just causes this much damage. Absolutely heartbreaking mate 😢 I'm so impressed at how you actually handle your records as well by the way - the records themselves, not the sleeves. I never ever finger mark my records and I handle them exactly the same as you mate - the edge and the label only. I saw a video the other day where a girl was doing ASMR on a new coloured vinyl edition 😬😬😬😬 My nerves were on edge - SHE WAS TAPPING THE PLAYING SURFACE WITH HER NAILS!!!!!!!!
@rockgod2004 always super careful about handling that vinyl Nige, I know you are the same, when me mates came over there was always someone who didn't respect the vinyl and it was like a horror show when they disrespected it 😱😱🤣 that's an abomination!!! Oh John how awful. A similar thing happened to a lot of Darren’s. At our old house a neighbours garage flooded and came into ours (which was lower. We lived on a hill). Absolutely devastating. There are no nice words to say. I’m really sorry buddy.

Oh mate; sorry to hear that your Vinyl went through that John 😢 That is gutting and not nice to see mate; still good to see what albums you got in the collection mate even tho it’s sad to see them go that way; the OMD singles you showcased are all excellent John; I actually never knew ‘Joan Of Arc’ got a 12 inch version; I do owne the 7 inch single of it and I think OMD’s first four albums are all home runs; ‘Romance Of The Telescope’ a great pick; I say my favourite OMD song is an album track ‘Promise’ on the ‘Organisation’ album 😀👌 Looking forward to the new album this month matey 😇
Yeah Sam 😭 thanks mate! It's awful to have this happen buy hopefully I can rescue the vinyl at least! I'm pretty sure nearly all of omd's early output had a 12inch version 🤔 Electricity didn't (but had 2 versions on 7inch) yeah the new album looks good...Great videos to go along with the songs 🤩🤩👍👍

Terrible business, John. I lost some old photographs by water damage, and Christ, it hurts. Hope you can replace the damaged records. Mine are in boxes, no doubt getting crushed under the weight of other boxes.

The importance of plastic sleeves
Totally, I'm in the process of buying a load of plastic inner bags for the vinyl and I'll put my good vinyl in plastic outer sleeves as well mate 👍👍
All my records have plastic outer sleeve protectors.

It was like the biggest "OH NOOOOOOO" moment I've had Alan 😱😱😱🥺🥺🥺 I've been looking at the OMD records online hoping there is a good cover but dodgy vinyl which I can swop for mine but they are about a tenner a shot! The worst thing that happened to me was before Christmas last year we had a fire I ended up losing a lot of my movie collection to that then a few days later someone broke in and stole all my remaining movie, music cds and vinyl and electrical equipment I used to dj back in the day so I had the technics turntables and a lot of other stuff I didn't have anything insured because I had a lot of rare cds and vinyl which if you tried buying it today it would cost you a fortune..now I just collect movies
That's a REAL horror story there Stephen 😱😱 kind of like a double nightmare mate 🥺🥺 it's funny that to build up a collection is hard.....but to replace one is nearly impossible!! 🤯 so do you not go to vinyl at all now? Its hard to leave a collecting habit behind but at least movies are keeping you in he game...if I had continued with vinyl (even through the days when the were the most out of fashion thing in the world) I might be a vinyl channel on here! Yeah I'm just collecting movies now john..I had too many pieces of vinyl it wasn't just a couple of 100 it was 1000s I had been djing since the 80's it would cost me too much money to replace plus I would have to buy all the equipment again it would be a headache and a rabbit hole I don't want to go down again!
Had to throw out my entire VHS Collection a few years back due to mold from being kept in a damp cupboard
you know make waterproof containers for these.
Feel for you. I'm a vinyl collector myself and know how expensive it is to buy records.
Keep the records. See if they play. Of they do jus buy replacement covers at record fairs and online.

Actually went to mensi funeral and solidarity was his send off song. Been watching your videos for ages m8 ,never commented b4 , not many auld punks that collect blu rays and vinyl! Sorry about your collection, I've had good results at discogs, beatdown in Newcastle also pretty good.

Nah, they were never mint. Not plonked together on the floor with no sleeves.
Weren't plonked, were placed in the corner awaiting the next step, probably throughly cleaned and plastic sleeves bought, sadly the water (which has never happened before or after) got to them, my fault for not elevating them 😵💫
