My mom makes something almost exactly like this. Some of the variations that she does is she uses sliced carrots, and halved green beans (along with the peas). She also subs one can of the mushroom soup for cream of chicken. Still tops it with biscuits. We call it "Pot pie in a pan".

@idunnoproductionzz not sure. The muffins won't be as soft and airy and may not obsorb the mixture into the bottoms but go ahead and try it.

@JikkirCraft I didn't know that biscuits weren't understood. They are light fluffy bread rolls. A little more dense then yourshire pudding but very similar.

@Leastar69 Not a silly question at all. The closest in UK I think would probably be a soft, savory scone, except with perhaps a bit more leavening as they are a bit higher and lighter I believe. In the US our scones tend to be dry, crumbly things. It's an easy dough to make, just google a recipe.

@PinkSander Oh I also used Cream of Potato soup and cream of chicken, and use a bag of corn, baby carror and asparagus mux, and added i bag of single serve green peas and about a cup and a half of frozen cubed potatoes. It was awesome! Easy and a HUGE hit with the family... I have already been told to make it again sometime soon!

My grandma used to use the 'biscuit crust' with leftover pot roast. Just take the leftovers (roast, potatoes, carrots, onions, what-have-you) and do everything you did with the chicken, i think she would add some flour to the juice/broth left in the bottom of the pan to make it a little thicker, then put it in the pan and cover with biscuits.
    Great way to re-invent leftovers!

@GingerKibble Unless the oil is really hot, your meats will boil. Thus the gray color.Frying and browning are a high heat deal.Duck is one of the few meats that you cook gradually and at low heat,as to render the fat.

@klostertorv You could just make your own biscuits? They're not that hard to make, the canned ones just help the recipe be easier. However I don't know what you could use for the cream soups, just try to find a thicker soup probably.

i think because of the sauce, it would be raw. but, i think if you squished the biscuits into like a "pie" type crust, it might work a little better. sorry this comment is so late.

Hi, I totally agree with chilling the chicken in the freezer but not freezing it to make it easier to dice. I am in the U.K by the way and we wouldn't call them "Biscuits" as we don't have them, They look almost like a savory scone to me. I make awesome Cheese ones so would probably opt for Cheese Biscuits (If you have them)? As for the vegetables most of the frozen are fresher than bought Fresh vegetables as they are frozen within hours. As for Rasputin would you rather have hours old or days old vegetables? And how many "Professional Chefs" have said do not waste time making Puff Pastry? Buy a good quality one ready made, Or are you going to tell all of them they are wrong?

i add a little of bells stuffing seasoning to the mix. It is so good. I also use chicken gravey instead of cream of chicken. sometimes i mix it up with boxed stuffing on top instead of the bisquets. It is always a hit in my family.

I used cream of mushroom and cream of broccoli soups, the frozen trio of carrots, broccoli, & cauliflower, frozen onions, and a bag of peas. I also cut the biscuits into 4 and put them on top. EVERYONE loved it and wanted me to make it again and again. :D Good recipe!
