    What is the Lizard skin insulation comprised of? Noise reduction mix comprised of?
    How is this different from Flexi Dip coating I can buy cheap at Home Depot?
    I am building a van and need insulation, thermal control, noise deadening, moisture proofing functions in a coating material.
    I need to know what is in this mix so I can apply it as needed for my van.
    Without understanding the composition, I cannot estimate what it will do.
    Is this a rubber compound with finely ground porcelain dust mixed in? If so, it will do all of the above. Please state what is in this mix.

    • @beez1598
      @beez1598 4 роки тому

      It's more than a ceramic dust they are "ceramic microspheres" if you do some searching you will find that the lizard skin is likely an exterior latex house paint or water based epoxy paint with these microspheres added. The cost to plastidip your whole interior would likely not be any cheaper and would do nothing for heat/sound insulation/deadening. The microspheres work because there are millions of tiny air bubbles in each sphere air is a wonderful insulator and sound proofer. Because the spheres are microscopic the paint is able to "lay out" and because there are so many microspheres in the paint you are effectively "painting" a layer of hermetically sealed air. It works it's worth the cost if you can afford it. I did this in my astro van, dynamat on top of that and a thin layer of rockwool insulation before adding my panels. It was 102 the other day and the interior had not risen above 80 or so parked in indirect sun all day by 5pm.

    • @tanyet
      @tanyet 6 років тому +1

      If you use this be sure to get one that is butyl based and not asphalt based. The original Peel and Stick might be bad for you when it heats up especially on the inside of a vehicle.

      Dampening any panels from vibrating will effectively limit the vibrations from those sources from becoming airborne in the cabin. If the panels can't vibrate to move the air, then the steering and suspension can shake all they want... It won't make any noise. Like a speaker where the magnet is still actuating, but the membrane is limited from moving.
