I am a huge fan of wrangler ATG pants for comfort and EDC. Use all my old issued stuff for range/camping activities. Had a bunch of buddies who bought crye gear while serving and they kissed away a whole paycheck to look cool…. Don’t buy into gimmicks and fads. This man has some very good tips and tricks that embody the meme of a chad with an sks vibe checking a simp with a Gucci rifle, nvgs, etc. great video.
Those Austrian surplus pants are probably the most comfortable tactical type pant I've ever worn. The fact they're already worn in is a huge bonus. I don't like that they don't have the butt pockets but nothing is perfect.
Even 5.11 is expensive, but Crye is just off the wall. In my environment, I'd rather have kit that looks like daily wear than camo, with some light tans available if SHTF and I have to exit normalcy to the desert. Greens and camo would stand out a lot, but a polo and jeans would be pretty normal and not stand out at all.
"There is hardly anything that someone can't make a little worse and sell for a little less. 5:11 Tactical Pants run $58-$90 a pair. For Equator-like heat, opt for the lightweight Striker ULT Combat Pants, built with ventilation zippers for comfort. In conditions between arctic and tropical, the versatile Striker XT Gen.3 Combat Pants are an excellent choice. All these pants provide excellent mobility, comfortable knee pads, and functional pockets, making them a top choice for military and law-enforcement units."
I got a load of old German army Moleskin pants and some nice Swiss army M84 cargos years ago back when they were even cheaper. Experimented with Greenland wax to waterproof the knees and seat of a few of them. Still have them now. They're still pretty cheap to buy too!
Thrift stores go crazy. Good condition workwear for $5. Price depends on where you go but people die all the time and most of it gets thrown out or goes straight to a thrift store. Its a bit morbid but youll find some good stuff if you know what youre looking for.
I love my Kurmaz "Cryes", other than that the only thing I can say to look out for on pants is if they have a gusseted crotch and the pockets aren't shit.
I can vouch for the Riggs; this video has me contemplating another pair or two, since I haven't seen mine for a while. Some people like spending money, and overpriced "tactical" or surplus stuff seems to be the current style. Fortunately for me, Uncle Sam hooked me up, though I did spend a little of my own money. I went to Drill Sergeant School five years before retiring, buying four sets of OCPs. They issued me four more sets. When the IHWCU came out, I bought a couple of those, then a year before retirement I got issued a new set of combat uniforms, including the combat pants with external kneepads. Needless to say, I'm set for OCP/Multicam, including Rifleman and Pistolman kit. Then there's all the UCP, Desert, and Woodland stuff in storage. I should probably look into selling most of it in a few years.
Wrangler rigs workwear are some of the best panst ive ever had. I've been wearing them for 2 years, awesome for working and even larping 😂😂 thanks for sharing
I’ve worn everything from TruSpec, 5.11, Proper, Issued Woodlands, Marine Digi’s, ACUs (complete trash), Crye and DryFires. Pants are pants some have lasted and some were destroyed on their first FTX. I’ve got a Tuff Box full of old issued uniforms I will probably never use again. My go to are the basic Multicam fire-retardant uniform I was issued on deployment.
Wrangler Rugged are good pants and I used to wear them. Yet, they are less "ripstop" then they advertise. The reason I don't wear them is I destroyed each pair. One to a large rip, one that wore out in the buttpockets and side pocket. I now wear 5.11 tactical pants because they last longer, have more utility, are lighter, and I found many pairs cheap at goodwill in my size. Lol
I came across your video at random, you just got a subscriber. I have a bunch of old ass 511 od green pants i had to use at work that uncle sam payed for that when I left went with me. Aside from that surplus or solid color bdu are my go too.
Surplus Army combat pants can be had for like $30, they take Crye knee pads and are made from a kevlar rayon blend. They're not quite as nice as real Cryes but still. Also I prefer the wrangler rigs technician pants, I don't really like cargo pockets in my every day pants.
Video is spot on brother ! Gonna need a umbrella for all of the tears from the LARPING tacticool kiddies. I'm a former 11B2V, and I own 2 pairs of expensive pants. One pair was $90 and the other pair was $120. I used those when I worked as a contractor. The rest of my pants are all cheap, under $50. Keep the great videos coming !
Haha awesome dude! I love it! I own some of the Crye stuff but I totally get what you're saying! I respect you a lot for having the nads to call guys out and bring them back down to reality some! PS you probably wouldn't like my Nike 6 Color Desert Air Force 1's haha
I have to comment. I have tow pairs of Crye combat pants and one pair of UF Pro combat pants. All were compliments of uncle sugar. They are awesome pants. Would I pay that much for them? Nope. I have one pair of the Wrangler work pants you showed. They are heavy but incredibly durable! Highly recommend. I brought a pair of Chinesium Crye airsoft guality pants off of Amazon and they have held up quite well and are really comfortable. The price is about $50.
yep as an old light armoured recce guy yep surplus is good shyt brother , 100 cotton good shyt too brother... Wranglers 100 percent cotton also good shyt too, finally a straight up video
I like the Wranglers for doing work around the homestead or taking a ride on the scooter, but when I gotta go into the office, larping or out among dem English, I've worn original Tru-Spec 24-7's, (65/35) for years. They're light, dry fast, take a beating, baggy enough for a base layer, have all the pockets a guy could want, keepers for AR mags in the cargo pockets, gusseted crotch and yes, inserts for knee pads...for when you really, really want that promotion. 🤭 All for about the same price as those Wranglers.
When I clicked on this, I was prepared to mention my all-time favorite pants. The underpriced(stupid cheap for what they offer), in my opinion. That being those Wrangler Riggs Ranger pants. I've been firmly sold on those for the better part of a decade. Being a truck driver who makes $70k+ per year, could I afford more expensive clothes? Yeah, but I'd rather invest that in precious metals, which is some gold and silver, but primarily its brass, copper, and lead, if you know what I mean. Also, I'm saving up to buy some wooded and bare acreage for self sustainability. It's harder to achieve those goals if you're blowing all your disposable income on overpriced bullshit.
My go to trousers are old East German surplus trousers for survival training here in Alaska. Saw some Cryer's on line yesterday for 700$- it was a shirt. Thats about the cost of my entire field clothing rack ... For the last 25 year ppl think they can buy their way into being a gunfighter or survivalist w/o putting in the time- or at least look like they do. I bitch about this often....... Good video. This type of message needs to be put out there more often..
I got my Snowflake Badge (Arctic Tab) at Ft Greely. There were guys wearing pretty much anything and everything you could imagine. Desert camo, tiger stripe, grey, white camo, Mossy Oak stuff, and from all different branches. It was a motley looking crew for that class.
Don’t sleep on ebay. I have a bunch of 5.11 Apex pants that I got for $20-$30. Especially if you want black or khaki, since three-pair lots are frequent from public safety department surplus.
What's worse is the crye g3 all weather field pants. Never liked the combat pants but I do like the field pants. But their over $400. I've been wearing 5.11 stryke and 5.11 apex pants both are south of $100 and I've been wearing them daily for years for work, they hold their color and I've yet to have a pair blow out on me yet. Their also very comfortable. If you wait for 4th of July or memorial or Xmas sales you can get them under $50. They come I'd tall and large sizes I'm 6'2" and 230 pounds. Hard to shop at Walmart for my sizes typically.
Great video, those Wrangler Ranger pants are great!! I picked up a couple of those a few wks ago. I found them at walmart and was like damn these are badass! Love what your doing man keep it up.
Wore pants like that to work for a while, they're nice if you have something to change into afterward. Takes like two days to dry after they get wet, lol.
Wrangler Riggs is my daily wear. The pockets are ideal for my EDC. They are showing some fraying at some points, but they work for me. I wish they made a set of denim with that pocket configuration for summer here in S. Texas. I'm an old fart from back in the original BDUs and LBE in the Army. If I had $350 for a pair of fancy pants, I'd spend it on ammo or another gun. Frigging Gucci COD operators.
I never noticed a runway or fashion photographers in the woods. Maybe they're there, but their camo is so good. [Did you notice the 3 different forms of "there" I used? - Grammar Nazis.] Btw I find all my surplus fashions @ thrift stores, and buy my used tac gear on ebay - usually in horrid UCP (Unusable Camo Pattern) then I dye them to be usable.
Selection is open to everyone, that being said yes you are right they are way too expensive. I’ll fight you over the knee pad thing. Pulling security and having knee pads is great, climbing in and out of trucks under nods they’re great, not taking a knee into stinging nettle or rocks is great. I’ll take a set of combat pants over OCP’s any day, blowing out a crotch day 1 and walking around the woods with blow out pants sucks.
Personally I like my crye pants. The knee pads are a great thing to have to keep the knees from getting torn up and i dont like getting thorns in my knees. 300 is ridiculous for pants and I'm not gonna argue. If you want them I'd suggest looking for second hand ones.
Well let's see. I still have all my issue uni's from green fatigues, BDUs, chocolate chip, 3 color, ABU's and finally issued crye. Although to be fair, my first stuff I got (all different mfgs) were hand me downs from Army. I really appreciate the kneepads and even bought my own with concealed knee pads. Crye, and they were right at $100 at the time.
I see the point. I don’t disagree. But they are comfy as fuck, and vent amazing. And I do value that. I bought my sets in 2017, a lot cheaper. Still holding up.
helped in 2 wars (Late) but we couldn't of done it without you so I'll give you that, and the other one was a draw if I remember 🤔😂. Just taking the piss . But you speak the truth man 👍
I paid under $100 for a surplus Crye top many years back. It’s nice but not full retail nice. I also recently grabbed a Crye war belt, new in the bag surplus. It’s just as nice as any other Berry Compliant piece of kit. Almost no reason to pay full retail for government contract gear.
Hate to break this news, but I'd have holes in those reinforced knees in like a month. How do I know? Bro I've had every pair of pants available from Wrangler, Carhartt, Duluth Trading, etc. none ever lasted me in my line of work without getting holes into he knees after like 2 months. However, I got these toilet-paper-thin Cintas tech pants and they've lasted me YEARS. being so thin, they melt easy, stay away from fire, (I have some holes in my pants from embers, still totally useable) Crye is gay jsyk. Love your vibe brother. Keep it up
I have the *slightly* cheaper version of these made by Arktis since I wanted a pair with hard kneepads ....and absolutely hate wearing them. The kneepads never seem to sit quite right. Even after fussing with the knee adjustment velcro I'm constantly adjusting them to sit on my knees. Probably just me being autistic, but I was disappointed to say the least. However, knee protection is still crucial. So guys out there - buy a set of Arc'teryx kneecaps - $70 and you can put them on any set of pants. Good workaround.
I’ve been telling guys for years. Nothing made of textile and held together by thread is indestructible. Buy what’s cheap and get spares.

I am old school, l will stand my ground until the end.
You have a good thing going .
Yea, I buy either 5.11, Propper or Truspec. Surplus is just not in my size usually and with bad ankle lightweight pants help carry loads.
For you guys that carry folding knives 😂
Love it
Beards on their necks and big waits are common amongst knife lovers
Those Austrian surplus pants are probably the most comfortable tactical type pant I've ever worn. The fact they're already worn in is a huge bonus. I don't like that they don't have the butt pockets but nothing is perfect.
Just take them to a seamstress and they'll sew some on for you in like 20 minutes
My tru-spec expedition 24/7 pants are my favorite for hot weather outdoor stuff. It is combat pant ish but can be found for under $100
And they're comfortable as hell! I love mine! Ankles unzip for ventilation...
Or, for over $300 :
"Choose the Striker Combat Pants for cold conditions like the North Pole, with our WINDSTOPPER liner for extra warmth.
Somebody had to say it! 😂
Old navy boot cut jeans no matter if I'm working or rucking. Always wait for the buy one get one 50% off. Can't shame the poor mans game.
Me personally I wear the NWU type III uniform. All together it costs less than 100$ for a completely new unused uniform and it’s done great
I love my Kurmaz "Cryes", other than that the only thing I can say to look out for on pants is if they have a gusseted crotch and the pockets aren't shit.
Grizzly and cargo pockets. Check.
If you watch this at 1.5x speed its even more whiny sounding 😂
Subscribed finally
Rookie numbers, i edit them all at 5x.
Lol
My work 5.11's have really held up. But kind of unfortunate because I don't love them either lol!
You found them at goodwill? Damn bro, that is awesome
@christopherwhitley9923 so far found 6 pairs in my size and two that were to big for me at goodwill. Crazy too because all pairs were new also.
Guess i need to take a trip to goodwill. 😁
BDU’s with ripstop is great for the Louisiana heat where I am!
I have enough DCUs, BDUs, and ACUs to last at least 2 lifetimes.
Also, love Dickies 874 for work stuff. Them'r tough as nails.
That's very true, fancy pants won't make you a better fighter
Thumbed you up by 1:10... LMAO
LOL, same. As soon as that accent hit…
Haha awesome dude! I love it! I own some of the Crye stuff but I totally get what you're saying! I respect you a lot for having the nads to call guys out and bring them back down to reality some! PS you probably wouldn't like my Nike 6 Color Desert Air Force 1's haha
I dont care for fancy shoes much either!
Buying used crye is what I did, i never paid over $100 for a pair. I’ve seen them as cheap as $70 too.
Your straight-up way of calling bullshit when you see it is why we subscribe
And I second the Wranglers.. I preferred the button pocket version when I could get them, id wear them up here too..
I recall when BDUs were 50 bucks in mid/late 90s at clothing sales at Bragg. Lol
Thats fucked. 15 dollars top or bottom in real nice shape all through the 90's and early oughts' here
@@LFAnon I do recall those prices in 93 when I was a reservist at Ft. Dix before going active.
Just go to the nearest Army & Navy surplus store and get old school BDU's, even old Vietnam surplus. Just an old 18 series guy talking...
What would you know? Lol thanks for weighing in sir. Always appreciate the knowledge drops from the wizened war fighters out there.
Don’t sleep on ebay. I have a bunch of 5.11 Apex pants that I got for $20-$30. Especially if you want black or khaki, since three-pair lots are frequent from public safety department surplus.
lmfao I have been BANNED from those libs at Ebay since like 08.
Well said!! Clothing is a disposable/consumable item. Spend that extra money on ammo and training.....and beer.
OD > M81. But dont tell anyone, hard enough to get stuff that isnt 100 shades of Ranger Green.
Wrangler Riggs "Ranger" pants are great. Crotch gussets too . 30 or 40 bux. In not exactly OD green or not exactly FDE.
Army ACU usually about $15 from most surplus shops. I work on and ride motorcycles. Don't have much money.
Great video, those Wrangler Ranger pants are great!! I picked up a couple of those a few wks ago. I found them at walmart and was like damn these are badass! Love what your doing man keep it up.
Been wareing Wrangler Riggs for over a decade now. If you're a short king, you will likely need to get them hemmed though.
Wore pants like that to work for a while, they're nice if you have something to change into afterward. Takes like two days to dry after they get wet, lol.
fair!
@LFAnon anzug 03s are where it's at though, excellent mention
Didn’t know they made shoulder holsters that fit a Glock with an optic, that’s dope.
@@federicomartinez9459 we Gucci baby
You can get a leather shoulder holster than fits any possible handgun you could imagine
Gucci has NO place in a combat environment. PERIOD…. I’ll stick with BDU’s that I wore during my Army career.
this was so good haha, I loved the "ranger" mockery haha
dude ranger means cool be polite
@LFAnont Sorry my manners are off man. Stay ranger!
The knee pads feel great when you take a knee and those pads are in the wrong place.
Vietnam seals Levi 501 jeans❤
Personally I like my crye pants. The knee pads are a great thing to have to keep the knees from getting torn up and i dont like getting thorns in my knees. 300 is ridiculous for pants and I'm not gonna argue. If you want them I'd suggest looking for second hand ones.
Are you a 34x32 by chance? Ill wear your blowouts ;)
@LFAnon lmao no, I'll keep repairing mine until they're a new pair of pants 🤣
And besides ripstop and thread are cheap, cryes are not
Well let's see.
But you speak the truth man 👍
A man of the people
Nearly wet myself listening to that voice in da beginning ya. Bwahaha!! ‘European surplus’ = Saran Wrap for us American built lads.
Solid green and solid coyote master camo
Wise words bro, wise words 🙌🏽
Surplus hot weather uniforms or jungle uniforms are awesome and not too expensive.
Caharts.......used them when I was a contractor in the sand box....they work good
I paid under $100 for a surplus Crye top many years back.
However, I got these toilet-paper-thin Cintas tech pants and they've lasted me YEARS. being so thin, they melt easy, stay away from fire, (I have some holes in my pants from embers, still totally useable)
Crye is gay jsyk. Love your vibe brother. Keep it up
If you really want operator knee pads, there are some relatively rare surplus pants with them as well.
operators dont operate knee pads
I have the *slightly* cheaper version of these made by Arktis since I wanted a pair with hard kneepads ....and absolutely hate wearing them. The kneepads never seem to sit quite right. Even after fussing with the knee adjustment velcro I'm constantly adjusting them to sit on my knees. Probably just me being autistic, but I was disappointed to say the least.
However, knee protection is still crucial. So guys out there - buy a set of Arc'teryx kneecaps - $70 and you can put them on any set of pants. Good workaround.
I like Arktis a lot but they are pricey too!
Just tell it like it is!!!
@@KrazzzRob66 cheers!
You need a big, dirty, 80's style mustache sir. Also, i agree with you haha. Simple always works
I perfer Surplus and commercial uniforms ( Propper, Tru-spec, and Surplus).
The reality is training and skills are important.
