Many tanks will just never go to the bubbles after 60% and block the booms.
My usual 10c extra: Only the first and third shadow saul need to be cc'd, the middle does the clone Jitsu as mentioned, instead of stealing boons or tp-ing everyone around the room. Most groups do not go to the edge at 60%, preferring to just move Deimos out slightly so melee dps can still dps... this makes the fight much faster and safer assuming everyone knows not to touch the oils. Usually, it is a druid that stays up with the tank to firstly bait out oils and secondly... To keep their spirits alive because they get killed every time you get teleported to spooky land. Last, very useful tip, is that periodically Saul places a debuff on Deimos called unnatural signet. If you're a power dps, this is your time to burst big... the first is always during first pizza so have supports drop aegis/blocks (stability does not work for pizza knockback) in order to maximise dps and push for phases. Additional bonus tip tho not recommended for newbies. Sac strat: In this strategy, as long as an arbitrary dps is chosen to go down for 25% Saul they run off alone (bonus if it is a chronomancer, as they can continuum split back up) to be sacrificed while the rest of the team focuses Deimos down to 10% to get the final phase. This means you have shadow Saul who teleports people randomly around the arena while you fight final form Deimos.
I'd actually advise the tank to always use the bubble (especially if you aren't tanking on a healer). If you block instead of using the bubble you take a huge damage over time, no reason to make your healer's lives harder. Deimos is animation locked so you won't screw up positioning, and oils technically spawn on the closest non-tank, not the second closest person, so you won't screw up oils either
@@dylanwarwick4429 Another thing for the unnatural signet is that you can give saul alacrity so he casts it more often. He uses it nearly off-cooldown. This is especially helpful for power classes that have access to their burst very often. The normal cooldown of the signet is I believe 60s and it lasts for 10s. He casts it shortly after deimos initially appears (I think he places a heal banner first which delays it slightly, or he just aggros late due to being an npc) and it would then be a 60s cooldown. Assuming you can burst him to 75% within or shortly after the signet, and you get done with the first evil saul in a reasonable time, having alacrity on the friendly saul for the duration helps having the unnatural signet earlier again to repeat this process. Way to do that is obviously having a class that can share alacrity up with friendly old man or having the friendly herald handkiter use his tablet heal on saul for a bit (salvation trait line causes it to grant alacrity). Or the way I'd suggest to do it which is having the tank chrono run alacrity well despite already having an alacrity renegade in the group, just to keep placing that well on saul (preferably out of range for players so saul gets hit for sure). It might seem like only a small thing to do but in reality reducing that unnatural signet cooldown is insanely potent. It's double damage after all.
Once I learned how to do this encounter, it is an actually very fun fight to do. Two tip I can add is its important to CC the third Shadow Saul when you're above or he can random port you into oils. Additionally when you are sent down to fight Saul after Deimos starts summoning oils, you can consider leaving a dps or a healer up with the tank as an "Oil kiter". Oil targets closet person that is not the fixated tank (meaning if only the tank and kiter stay up, oils will show up on the kiter, making their job harder).
I would also like to add that newer groups to this fight, that range is easier than getting up close and personal with this boss. All the dps has to do is stand in the middle and hit him at range.
Do it! Do it! Maybe some raid trainings first and definitely watching these guides helps as well as having a command tag to pug. With a command tag instead of fitting the lfg roles, you make em. Haha, just 3 days too late. I just started raiding 2 weeks ago and I completed all the HoT raid encounters except Deimos. Your guides helped me through all of them....but Deimos is where I got stuck and that made me realize how dependent on your guides I was. lol Well, time for a second try I guess!
@@kaltaron1284 They were all more or less more experienced than me. They were doing raid trainings mainly to get enough KP I guess. So by stuck I meant that I was running around like a headless chicken most of the time and caused a few wipes. In the easier bosses the other 9 people can carry you but this one was not one of those. The raid training that I was a part of does this tier thing, if you've got 6 unique boss kills and a gear/build check, you can upgrade to tier 1. I recently got into t1 and it was my first fight. We were not supposed to do Deimos but since the commander saw that most of us were not new we decided to casually go at it. Oil does not spawn on the second closest player, it is the closest player that is not the tank. it might seem like thats the same, but it is really not.
Great guide as alway. Glad you said that this was only the HoT raids. Looking forward to PoF ones. Just a few additions: 1) There should be some kind of banner that can really help the hand kite if necessary. 2) This was the melee strategy. There's also a ranged one where you have a black kite that supports the tank and the groups stays at range. It is slower but less error prone for groups that can't stay out of the oil. You can do a hybrid by assigning someone to do black kite when everyone gets ported away to take some pressure off of hand kite. 3) I don't recall who of the special roles can or can't get green but it's a good idea to define some backup.
1) that banner is summoned by Saul (the friendly old man) to the person with the lowest current health % and heals everyone in the area of effect (White circle indicator) by 5% of their maximum health per second. Usually it goes on the kiter as they're the only ones really taking a hit. Saul also debuffs Deimos with a blue signet which makes him take double damage for a while. 2) the closest person to deimos who is not the tank gets the oil puddle spawning on them. So whoever is kiting it needs to stay up during the 50% and 25% greens so the handkiter won't be getting them. Unless they're comfortable with it in which case it's fine. The 75% green doesn't matter as oils only appear after 60%. This works for any strategy but if you are doing the ranged strategy (which gladly is a lot less popular nowadays) it is required to have one kite outside the middle area as you don't want oil puddles in the safe zone. This person preferably brings a block and self sustain to out heal the mind crush damage ticks afterwards. 3) if the dedicated oil kiter gets the green someone either had to backup or the handkiter has to get ready for oil puddles. The only 2 people that cannot get green circles are the tank (highest toughness) and the person furthest away from deimos (handkiter). There is no oil kiter set as a role who is immune to greens. Note: at 10% there is no more tank meaning the closest person to the edge deimos attacks from gets the oils.

The point is ppl need to not get butt hurt when they join an exp group then get kicked because they said they know how to do something, but then don't follow through. I agree some commanders are a little over the top with how they handle it, but ppl need to understand what they're signing up for. That being said there needs to be more activity on LFG for training new ppl. Not just exp groups that require 50KP to join. It's not toxic to kick someone for not fitting your criteria. Most of the time pugs leave before we even consider kicking them. Yes, failing once on a training raid is not acceptable... When it comes to training raids, my impression is that there are quite a few but interest in training raids far outweighs availability of willing commanders. I've just started commanding a beginner raid and it's a challenge for me. Right now we are failing our way through wing 4. It's been 4 or 5 times so far and the farthest was Samarog. But we're getting better. Edit: I also heard that some people consider themselves not good enough for raids but can do all the strike missions easily. Yeah, sure...
This joke has nothing to do with who is the biggest oil producer. Oil market is dominated and regulated by USA along with other energy resources like natural gas etc. This results in countries being unable to control the prices of natural resources they have in their own land. USA can (and does) manipulate the prices to damage the rival country's economy (like Iran or Russia). Whoever doesn't play by the rules set by USA gets fucked right in the ass economically (or militarily). As a gatekeeper of the market, wherever oil exists, USA has to be there. So this meme makes perfect sense.
It won't be a bad joke for long, US has the highest production rates, but it's far from the biggest reserves. At the rate they are going they'll run out far before Canada, Saudi or Venezuela. Let's wait 10 years give or take and ask muk to say the joke again
You mispronounced tears. He doesn't "drop tears". He opens tears and players have to close them by walking over them giving you Tear instability preventing you to pick any more up until it's gone. The tooltip reads: "Closing a demonic tear has taken its toll. You are unable to close more tears while this effect persists." Thus it is not a tear, as in crying. Wouldn't make sense. Why would a giant demon cry on the battlefield?
I used to call it tears (like a tear in reality) then someone pointed out to me that one of the icons for it was a teardrop so I changed what I was saying. I just assumed he was crying cause I was hitting him.
Well tell him he was wrong and you were right. Smack him with a link to the wiki page or the chat code. That should clear up any doubts. Then again I have never been in a voice coordinated raid group that actually pronounced it correctly.

If I'm an employer looking for someone to manage a fine dining restaurant then I'd expect you to meet certain criteria. If you've only worked at McDonalds as a crew member then there's no way its gonna work. Especially when you advertise what it is you need. The whole "Raiding is toxic" is a big misconception. Not saying it doesn't exist somewhere, but it's much less than ppl think it is. A lot of ppl just don't have the spinal fluid to stand up on both legs and act like adults lol.
@@Akria1999 Totally get what you mean. I usually prefer it that we mark our raids as training because we do mistakes and our dps isn't great. So we give people a good few tries unless they are obviously trolling.
Joining voice comms is of course always appreciated and makes things far smoother.
Yeah, sure...
love you, no homo :)

The oil joke is one of the worst joke to still exist when The united states is the world biggest oil producer.
Fine, then I was referring to how much oil they put on my pizza and french fries.
