Stop Caring About What Others Think - Focus On The Process

We all get caught up looking for likes, follows, thumbs ups, or whatever social metric social media gives us. Before we know it our happiness is intertwined with how many Instagram followers we have compared to the next person.
Once we hit one achievement, we are satisfied just long enough to see that we are even further from the next.
If instead we learn to love the process of creating something, we learn to love the game of putting in the hard work every day, for the rest of our lives, and ignore the metrics that are out of our control. And if we stop comparing ourselves to others, we will not only grow, but we might even find happiness.
All too often I see unhappy artists, upset that they can't have this or that, or that so and so doesn't respect them. If they would just put their head down and focus on the process, they would no doubt find more satisfaction in their life.
I am excited to go to work each day and build something. The numbers are just a byproduct of the work. I pay attention to them just enough to learn what works, and that's it.
