I was one of the fortunate people to see the great Bret Hanover run in Chicago at Sportsman Park. After winning he was taken off his cart and after attaching his white cape walked to the center of the track and bowed to the grandstand. No other harness horse so great as he.

So great to see both my favorite harness horse of all time and the greatest announcer of all time, Stan. But I'm biased because I'm his son. Anyway, to paraphrase the old bluegrass song, "there never was a hoss like the Pennsylvania Stud." Brett Hanover was the perfect horse at the perfect time. The great showman of the heyday of harness racing, the mid 1960s. Along with the never flappable Frank Ervin. The man was always cool as a cucumber. Thanks for putting it up on UA-cam.

I first heard of your dad when they had harness racing on channel 9, W O R. i never knew he was an announcer. He was the MOST knowledgeable man in harness racing !!! He made Spencer Ross look like a joke . Sorry Spencer,. I do like you too. But the real star of the show was, and I know your dad will agree, was JACK E. LEE !!! I used to call the "stretch call" - 976- ???? just to hear Jacks voice !!! Thanks to you tube, we now get to hear other race callers. Stan is 3rd best in my book !!! No. 1 is Fred Capossela ! Trevor D. is 4th ! Al Bergstein,It's been an honor to chat with you !!! Yes it is !!! .

I also was a small boy and my dad took me to see Bret Hanover at Brandywine Raceway. My father knew many trainers and drivers at the time. Yes we saw Bret up close take his bow and win many races. Such great memories! Steve A.

I missed seeing Bret Hanover. In the late 60's, my dad took me up to Bandywine Raceway in Wilmington, De. I saw Cardigan Bay race a couple of times. He drew big crowds.
