Fly fishing trip to River Lainio in Swedish Lapland. This trip had lovely dry fly fishing for grayling. Lainiojoki is also salmon river in Swedish Lapland. We hiked with our fishing gear and set a tent camp by the Lainio älv. If you are planning a fly-fishing trip to Scandinavia then River Lainio is a great option. It has great stock of grayling but it’s also a salmon fishing river in Lapland of Sweden. We focused mainly on grayling fishing and especially on dry fly fishing, but also aimed for Lainio river Atlantic salmon.

Never! I'm from Northern Ireland (hence the Irish Traditional Music) but live in beautiful North Wales. We have great waters here (I'm only really interested in rivers and streams) but I'm very interested in going to Sweden to fish for grays and brownies. I have an old friend who's been living in Nyköping near Stockholm and he's invited me over. I'll certainly take up the offer over the next few seasons. I have visited him about twenty years ago there and visited the Wasa Museum... Beautiful city (y)
Swedish Lapland is just awesome for grayling fishing, and usually good chance to get really nice dry fly fishing. :) What do you usually fish at your home waters, dry or nymphs or what type of flies?
Hi again, I usually only fish dries, even in winter. I catch all year round although the numbers are logically sparser in winter. I do occasionally fish with a point nymph but very rarely. I just love the thrill of watching that fly and anticipating fooling a trout or grayling.I've also gone back to using glass rods as I love the full flex action.

Well... The target fish was trout and grayling. How was it the first time, I did some essential mistakes (tackle, clothes..). But despite that became smarter and now every year I visit Lappland and gonna keep it doing untill I'll be able to hike. :)
