As always, I loved this video! Very informative. The sim is a great way to keep current--they get better and better all the time--and I think X Plane 11 is the fastest!
I have just started using X Plane and am very impressed with it. The flight model feels great. With add on scenery plus aircraft like the Hot Start TBM 900 it certainly gives MSFS 2020 a run for its money.

I would recommend turning on VHF simulation in the vatsim connector settings

Plane Old Ben hmm that’s odd as your Vatsim audio didn’t have the effect on it. I actually controlled you once at EGPH as well 😂
I noticed that too haha, was very confused
I think the reason might be because he is using the built in plug in for xplane I would use the external version which is x pilot on your desktop hope this helps Was watching blackpool to oban today even tho it's a year old great video keep up the good work 😀

@@PlaneOldBen I'm curious as to how they get the voice of the flight controller. Is there an actual person at the airport assigned to speak to the person in the simulator? Does he/she respond with current conditions at the airport?

It's possible, just a little bit too close to Blackpool to make the trip I feel.
I do not understand how throttle and prop work on this plane. It has a weird h pattern. Can it be controlled with a regular throttle quadrant ?

Great video Ben. I have just started using X Plane 11 and was pleasantly surprised how good it is, especially with the Orbx True Earth scenery. The Hot Start TBM 900 is excellent.

Install windows boot camp on your Mac. You’ll get better frame rates.
I'm going to buy a PC eventually, I've been happy with how the Mac performs up to now however.
@@PlaneOldBen I'm currently using a 2013 mac for x plane with only 1GB of VRAM. Not so good on my end, haha. Also hope to buy a PC soon!

"Pilot Yellow" flew an R66T helicopter around the world, "Epic World Tour" and I was awed by the beauty of the Scottish coastline as they hit land from the ocean! Would love to see it in XP11, well, in mfs2020 would be good but not likely at this time.

Hi Ben, I'm currently waiting on my custom built PC arriving from online company pcspecialist so that I can get X Plane 11 up and running with Honeycomb Alpha Yoke plus Logitech Throttle and Rudders. Waiting for the Honeycomb Bravo controls to be available in September as well to improve the set up further. Any recommendations for a complete novice with regards to using X Plane who is also wanting to start PPL training as soon as possible as well? Also are you still in Belfast or back on the mainland?

My personal aim before coronavirus was to hopefully go for an integrated course to get the frozen atpl but now contemplating the modular route to give the world of aviation a bit more time to recover. I think it was at the beginning of lockdown when I found your channel after watching your chat with Petter (MentourPilot) a while back and from there I watched your video on your sim set up which helped convince me to get the Honeycomb Alpha purchased as well. I can definitely see that there will be benefits to having the sim, especially as I progress through the PPL and, fingers crossed, beyond that! Hope you have managed to line up something after flybe coming to an end.
