I was curious about the workflow. The S950 (or 900) seems like the most affordable way to get into old school 12-bit sampling. Even now, as these machines are going for $2k. The S2400 is I think 1800 or so, but it’s not quite a piece of history like this king. (Not to mention the filter). Thanks man
Great 👍🏽 video again btw! I got this in my favorites! It cool 😎 to see different user of this gear. Different videos with different tricks. I had to put my iPhone 📱 on my hdmi on my 49 inch tv to see what’s really going on 🎯
Yo man what did you connect the line cable to ? I just got my s950 today and I’m trying to work it with my mpc one , do I need to buy a mixer or interface to connect it up ?
Great video. Make me appreciate my MV 8000 more. Lots of steps to get things going. Also, for some reason I thought that you could only get like 3-5 seconds of sample time on this.
@@chrisgalactic I've menaged to fix It. The line input requires a High level of audio volume, instead the mic input needs more then half of It. That's why I couldn't hear anything from the line in.
Thank you so much. this is the first video i watched, that has a step-by-step clear instruction. I have 2 question. the first question is how can i save the sample to the usb drive. the second question is how can i use the sample on my MPC? thank you so much
In order to use in conjunction with an MPC the two pieces of hardware need to “talk” to each other via MIDI. So, you need to connect the midi out of the 950 to the midi in of the MPC. Secondly, you also need to set up a key group so that the pad midi notes & S950 key group and save this to a disk so that you can boot it up every time & don’t have to reprogram. All of this is covered on the internet, have a look.
I just got lucky, bought a faulty one for £185, when I received it the fault was non-existent 😂 I was prepared to get my hands dirty but ended up with a bargain. Saying that, I had bought one in 2005 for £150 and that's a fair price this antique. I believe the price is coming down as people who jumped on the hype train can't be bothered to learn it or put up with the longer workflow.
Seen this video and thought "why even make a video like this?" Seems kinda pointless and only for attention/views.. Let's see what I think after watching it lol
and yeah. Still don't really get the point of making this video from my perspective, but it achieved a goal of you receiving my attention and checking out some more of your videos, just to see if my opinion changes! Although if I wasn't ill in bed I'd probably just get up and use my equipment instead of watching others use theirs!

This machine shines when the sample is played double time with a reduced Bitrate, then pitched back down. The Aliasing it creates is Gold.
Agree transposing does magic forsure
Nice! 👌👌 I used to own a s950, need another one asap! ✌✌

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nice video
Couldn’t buy one of these last year now there’s loads around £400-500 I picked 2 up 😊
I can only find for 1000 Euros transport incl. which is a loot. Would you sell me one of yours for £500 maybe?

Love your channel👌🏾
Appreciate that man! Means a lot
Dope video, can you do a video on keygroups nxt!!
Forsure!
@@chrisgalactic yes please keygroups.. i second that!!
Thanks man!!!!
Happy to help!
Cool 😎 video man!
Thanks yo! Thank you for watching

Thanks bro! You're legendary man I remember watching your videos early on when I started this whole music journey.
Thanks 🙏🏽 man I really appreciate it.
Show us how to chop in the 950 all thst keygroup bs confuses me.
Forsure! Good idea I'll give it a shot
Yo man what did you connect the line cable to ? I just got my s950 today and I’m trying to work it with my mpc one , do I need to buy a mixer or interface to connect it up ?
The line in is connected to my interface in my setup. So I can sample into the 950 through the line in but you don't need a mixer just a TRS cable
Dope, but I thought you sold all your samplers?
Haha I should do a video on why I kept my Akai S950 rack sampler shouldn't I?
Great video. Make me appreciate my MV 8000 more. Lots of steps to get things going. Also, for some reason I thought that you could only get like 3-5 seconds of sample time on this.
Thank you brotha! Yes to many steps just to sample lol
no we can get 20+
Would you happen to know a website that sells replacement pads and buttons for the mv-8000? I bought one but it’s falling apart and want to fix it.
Can you please make a Keygroup video using your AkaiS950&MpcLive?
Without a doubt! I'll give it a shot
I made a program on the S950 that maps the keygroups to the 16 pads of bank A on the MPC. I can send you the HFE file if you like.
Cool 😎
Is this the same procedure for the S900, got one arriving soon?
Sorry for the late reply! It should be the same process
I must invest in an Akai S950 and a SP-404.
Yes bro! Invest is the key word.
i dont know why my mic input is ok but the line doesnt work…
the option 1 works for mic and line input?!
Mmmm mic and line are separate inputs try some computer cleaner to get all's the dust out of the input see if that helps

How in the hell did you get an S950 for 200?!
I got lucky lol

Nice!!!! Hopefully the prices go down I love the S950 but it's not the magic box
