I was thinking: "the mullet is strong with this one". Giving medieval peasant (farmer) vibes. 2 very important questions. 1) Did all the goats get sold? 2) Is the therapy duck era over?
I think using wool as mulch is a perfect idea. Just make sure you don't have the wool touch the 'trunk' or do a too thick layer (maximum of about 5 to 7 cm).
I have been using sheep wool as mulch in my vegetable garden for a few years. It keeps a lot of pests away and cuts down on watering a lot. I definitely recommend it.
Chris, nothing to do with Idie’s hurty paw, but I think her paws would be more comfortable if you trim the long hair between her toes. It prevents mud and if we get snow, a build up of uncomfortable balls being held by the long hairs. Easy to do, just flip the hair upwards and snip from above.since CODD mutated from a cattle foot infection could the lame sheep infect the cattle?I used sheep’s wool as a mulch in my veg garden, quite good, meant to give slugs a hard time but nobody told them.
Great video! I think mulch is a good use for your wool. We have a few sheep and we put the wool on the compost pile. It is not worth anything for selling. The easy-care ewes will be interesting. We have a mix of Ile de France ewes, a few Suffolks, and some White Dorpers. The White Dorpers did well for us this past year. Good luck!
Love shedders. Cleanskin, Hair sheep. Red Meatmasters for me! Wool makes great mulch. I clip my poor shedders and put it around the trees in a shelter belt.. unless I just haven't got around to doing it and its still sitting in the yards beside the race...
Hi Chris, all the best to Zoë & Sidney. It's great to have the videos back. You were missed...... If you don't mind me asking, how did the rest of the BB x cattle go for you?
Are stores selling ok now? I think we have 22 lambs left and I think only about 5 or 6 are finished but I hadn’t seen any store sale results which made me think trade had really slumped. I thought the bluetongue thing had totally ruined the idea of anyone wanting to risk buying stores?
very old engine oil,,, painted on the ringworm,,, will kill it,,, err,, not the animal,,, the worm,,, 😅 thats what an old cow farmer told me probs 45 years ago,,,,, luv yer vidios,,,
Please, please get your dog a seatbelt....if you have to stop fast or in an accident your dog will come off so much worse. I can see when your in fields etc it's not so practical, but on roads it's so dangerous and illegal
My friend was hit in the rear and lost 3 out of 4 dogs-one that survived had to have emergency splenectomy and thankfully survived. My friend broke bones and had a bleed on the brain. I’m sure if the dogs had been wearing seat belts they’d have survived but we’ll never know. Scary though so I’m a huge advocate of dogs being restrained properly in cars
@carolwilson2502 I have had 3 toy poodles and people thought I was crazy buying seatbelts for them, this was before the law came in. If you love your animal or yourself or your passengers strap your dogs in, they are a flying missile in an accident

I put some on my wife’s garden thinking I was doing her a favour, but one strong wind later and it was all over the place. Mrs wasn’t happy…

I hope Zoe and the baby are doing well. Hope you get your sheep sorted.

Can’t believe I’m saying this, but your easy care ewes weren’t half bad, can’t go wrong at £68 . Are you Pd cows to see if young bull has works alright?
wool mulch works - there was a report that scored it the best for hedging , which obviously I can't find now... be generous is the key :)

Cows are looking good!
BTW... I do actually love the mullet on you. And we need to see darling Sydney at some point... Even if it is only a brief peek. We Grandma's need it!
sheep mulch - cracking idea - did it with a willow hedge not that long ago
Lol not a fan of easycare ewes. Fan of the price tho. Still a couple of those little black ewes hanging around. Are the goats and ducks gone?
