Yep certainly is very quick. A couple of points though. I don't know how long the drive train can stand up to 3s power. And the standard Tamiya aluminium pinion gear should be swapped for steel because the aluminium wears out a lot faster and in turn takes out the differential gears too. But that's the way Tamiya has always specced their kits with aluminium. Because it's cheaper than steel. I just picked myself up a Hot Shot 2 only on 28 march and it's now 1 April here in Australia. Over here the car doesn't include the speed control. But that's ok , I might not build this kit because I already built the red Hot Shot 1 and the Super Hot Shot. It's almost the same car so I might just keep this unbuilt new in box. Plus it's rarer than the other 2 . Nice vid Joe 👍👌
@joedipietro2559 Thanks for watching. I normally just use the 3s for a speed run and 2s for everything else. I like to test the limits a little bit. Lol. Happy easter!
I will blame my ocd on this buy. Lol. I have the Hotshot, super hotshot and the blockhead hotshot. My brain would not let me say no lol. I had to complete the set. LolI will run it on 2s for off-road. We all know how strong the front arms are.
This hotshot retains a very vintage style but in 4x4! I loved the speed test, 24 mph in 2 seconds, it's perfect! 31 mph! It's definitely crazy! It reminds me a lot of the raider from Kyosho! greetings friend
That's crazy man! Quite remarkable how well that took 3s with a fairly mundane motor such as the sports tuned. We used to run these back in the day on a 7.2v 1200MAH NICD with a 21 turn technigold brushed motor, and they were no where near as quick as this! Would love to see this on a superstock RZ motor and 3s......it would seriously rip! 👍 👍 👍
@@JoevsRc Ah sweet mate!! 👍 The superstock RZ is my weapon of choice in most of my vintage Tamiya /Kyosho models...... At around 28,000 rpm it has some serious pep! I've not tried them on 3s yet though..... hope it doesn't cook it! 😂 👍 👍 👍
Nice choice on the front shock oil. I generally run a 70 weight myself. 3s really woke her up. Didn’t expect that much of a speed increase, was thinking 3 or 4 mph, but 7 for 31mph 🤯👍
Sweet run Joe, need one of these.. 3s is the way to go..... Like the unbox and build at the end.. My Live stream crapped out tonight getting vid out in bit.
Yes it can hold a 2s square battery. A small one. I will check the measurements later for you. The car was 200.00 plus ball bearings, sport tuned motor and radio gear
I was about to buy the Hotshot 2 but there is something more interesting about the Hotshot 1 that I like. I like that interesting mono rear shock, looks very cool.
Its fast and looks really good!😃👍
When it gets a little dryer out, I can't wait for some dirt
Awesome.. nice they come with bearings on this kit.
It came with 4 ball bearings and 2 thrush bearings. It still need more lol
@JoevsRc aww crap! Lol well it's something at least 😁
That is a nice machine Joe
Thanks, now I have a complete hotshot set
Nice looking buggy, and yeah, alive with the 3S 😅 🤝
3s power! This time, it did get a little warm lol
Dude 🤩. She’s beautiful and damn she was flying with the 3S. Nice one 👍
Thanks! It was a fun rip. Can't wait for dirt

Nice buggy, looks good
Thanks! It looks better in-person
Awesome rip Joe 😎👍 Happy Easter 🐣
Happy Easter to you and your family!
Great results for such old buggy technology
Thanks! It was a fun drive
Awesome Joe! this thing was rock solid at 24mph and 31mph! that 90wt oil really helped keep this thing planted! its a screamer for sure!
3s is my go to lol. Works nicely for the street but off road it can be tricky. That oil was great even for the jumps. No more bounce
Joe that’s a good looking buggy it reminds me of the golden arrow I had a kid
RAIDO SHACK! The Golden Arrow was very popular going up
3s REALLY woke that thing up! I love seeing speed runs in different cars (especially ones that are not meant to be fast)!
Thanks! I like pushing the limits on things lol
Nice video and great results - I love the look and style of the Hotshot 2, might have to get it on my list of must haves!!!
I recommend getting one . It's a fun buggy
Nice rip Joe! 31 is awesome! She ripped pretty good in the grass too!🤜🤛
3s power !!!!
Glad you were able to pick one up! 24 is plenty fast for one of these off road. They are great looking buggies! Have fun with it!

Awesome and So Cool "Classic" Rc!!!
💪🏻🤩🥰😍🏆👍🏻
Great runs my Friend 🐼👌🏻
Thanks! It brings back fun memories
Oh yha Indeed my Friend ❤
The Hotshot 2 is such a beauty, mine just came in yesterday! Looks like you had yours going pretty good there, Joe. That 3S run was just perfect!
Thanks, and with the 90wt oil, it handled excellent
@@JoevsRc Good to know, I start my build tomorrow. :)
@poorboysrc stock oil had too much bounce . Mostly the front

HI! The hotshot family is a good-looking one. Hope all is well.
Nice job Joe Awesome buggy😀💯👍👍👍 , I've got the blockhead but that's a shelf Queen 😁
Nice! I have that one also that needs to be built one day lol Thanks for watching

I think I have that motor! If I do, I will run it for you

I think I might try this oil in more Tamiya. It worked out nicely. I love using 3s. But mostly for the street and 2s off road
Looks great! Seems pretty quick too!
It is kinda quick. I also put 90wt oil in the shocks to help control the bounce. I thought the stock oil was to thin
Sweet run Joe, need one of these.. 3s is the way to go..... Like the unbox and build at the end.. My Live stream crapped out tonight getting vid out in bit.
Thanks! Now I have all the hot shots, lol I need help
@@JoevsRc nice .. what one driv s best. I will only be getting one most likely
@reitplace4765 I have driven the hotshot and hotshot 2. The 2 is better and the super shot will be a build and run soon
@@JoevsRc cool I'll be watching.
I need a new kit! Haha.Nice video Joe! 6:37
Hotshot 2 gets a vote from me. Thanks!
Very cool and fast RC❤️🔥💯
Thanks! Brings back memories
The hotshot was a 4×4 fox! Just saying i remember all the tamiya rcs in the day
@bobscott117 Thanks for watching. I still have most of them . I still have my hornet from when it was released. Lol 😆 🤣
your backyard is dying for a rc track lol 31mph brushed is pretty good, nice looking kit dude
If I put a track in the backyard, I know the next thing that would die back there. Lol
@@JoevsRc lmfao yeah? I'm jealous of Paul's 😂
Cool! How much does it cost, and can it hold a square 2S Lipo battery?
Yes it can hold a 2s square battery. A small one. I will check the measurements later for you. The car was 200.00 plus ball bearings, sport tuned motor and radio gear
@@JoevsRc What I meant was will it hold a STANDARD lipo battery.
@@guymarotta2596 I have put in a reedy and a zee lipo
Great video of a great buggy. How does the sport turned like to be driven on 3s?
In this buggy, it got a little warm. Might try a torque tuned. And run 2s off road. We will see zoom or boom
2s on 24 good, 3s 31mph better 🙂You have the bug now, a Hotshot 2.
Lol I already had the hotshot, super shot and blockhead shot lol. Needed to finish the set lol
90 wt sounds to heavy oil for the front shock. That stuff is generally reserved for on road cars.
It works great. On the street and on the jumps. Work better than I hoped for
how long did itt ake to complete?
@whitmanft Thanks for watching! It took a weekend working on it off and on.
Put an lrp 14x2. T motor then it will wake up even just on 2s.
@@cjprior88 where can I buy this?
I was about to buy the Hotshot 2 but there is something more interesting about the Hotshot 1 that I like. I like that interesting mono rear shock, looks very cool.
Thanks! I own the original as well. I love them both.
