  • In this training, Michaela Aschbacher, Training and Consultancy Manager with the Cool Farm Alliance presents the Cool Farm Tool, a simple-to-use yet scientifically robust carbon accounting tool with tens of thousands of users in 150 countries, including the U.S.
In her webinar, Michaela demonstrates how the Cool Farm Tool can be used to understand the environmental impact of farming activities and how it can inform decision-making to adopt sustainable, regenerative practices on farms. Specifically, she:
-Explains how to use the Cool Farm Tool by (1) defining its scope, (2) walking through sample assessments of greenhouse gas emissions in crop and livestock production systems, and (3) reviewing the additional water metric and the biodiversity module of the tool
-Discusses how to interpret and compare results from “what-if” conservation practice scenarios and create improvement strategies
-Illustrates how the tool can be used by project managers to measure the effect of conservation practices adopted by multiple farmers in a project
-Explains how to aggregate data, create reports on project-level outcomes, and scale data processing through API connections
-Provides examples from existing members and research projects that have used the tool
-Explains the costs involved when using the tool on a farm or at the project level
This presentation is part of our Outcomes Estimation Tools Training Webinar series. With support from US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Walton Family Foundation, American Farmland Trust is providing project managers with these trainings to aid in their quantification of outcomes associated with farm conservation practices. The webinars are held on the first Wednesday of each month through 2024. See all sessions and REGISTER HERE: bit.ly/3MZQ5K8. Find recordings of past sessions here: bit.ly/45uGLEp.
