    STORY
In the heart of the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina lies an abandoned Wild West-themed amusement park called Ghost Town in the Sky. Built-in 1961, Ghost Town in the Sky quickly became a beloved destination for families across the country. Visitors were transported to a much simpler time, Wild West America, where cowboys still roamed the streets of the old western town.
The park offered a variety of rides and attractions, including a mountain roller coaster, a haunted mine train, and a chairlift that soared to the top of Buck Mountain, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding area. It was widely popular in the 70s and 80s and at its peak welcomed over half a million visitors each season.
One of the more exhilarating experiences that the park offered where the gunslingers facing off at high noon, in the Main Street of the western town.
But as the years passed, the park began to struggle. Mechanical issues plagued the rides, and attendance dwindled. In 2002, a chairlift incident left several visitors stranded for hours in the blazing sun, the following morning the management of the park announced that the park would be closed indefinitely.
Today, Ghost Town in the Sky remains abandoned, a haunting reminder of a forgotten era.
Join us on a journey to this lost world, where we will explore the ruins of Ghost Town in the Sky and learn about its fascinating history.

My parents took me and my brother there every year when we were kids. We made lots of good memories there. It's a shame to see it deteriorate like this. I wouldn't trade my childhood memories for anything. We grew up in a different world. Thanks for all you do. We can travel around the world thanks to people like you and your friends.

I absolutely loved Ghost Town. This was a family tradition. My parents always took me there, then my children. I am so sad that my grandchildren haven’t been able to enjoy.

It was definitely open for one summer in 2008 because I went there multiple times that summer. The roller coaster was closed at that time though everything else was open, the gun shows, gift shops, and the novelty areas. I knew a gunfighter who worked there he had many stories! There also was a movie filmed there back in 2006-2007 also.

I was living there on top of the park on a little dirt road beside the top of the park. The red devil roller coaster was awesome. Gun fights and can can girls was great. Rb the owner was a great boss. When storms would pass over lightning looked so close to us, clouds went around our trailer... Contact me guys for more info on park

I never got to go there during my childhood while it was open. My dad visited it 5 years before I was born. I have watched the nearly 2 hours long video from Explomo where you do more details of a tour. Sadly since you did your videos criminals have put graffiti on the stage of the silver dollar saloon and in other places all over the park and have damaged the buildings really bad. I wish someone would come along and clean up the place because I think the owners could make money giving guided tours of the place and telling it's history.

We would drive thru Maggie Valley 2x a year on our way from Ohio to GA to visit my grandparents. I went twice as a kid. That roller coaster was the first one my daughter ever rode. She was 4-5 at the time. It awakened her love of coasters and she still loves them at 35. So many memories in this place. I've always hoped that they would actually fix and reopen it. I'm not holding my breath, tho.

Ok the Horror house must have been a seasonal thing. (If you notice the color is not faded like the rest of the park.) It was Not part of the Original Ghost Town. There was never anything scary in the original. (Maybe the gun fights for younger children) My family visited many many times. I only have fond memories of going to Ghost Town in the Sky. Sad to see what it is today. Also there was an incline train that you could take up and down the mountain not just the chair lift. Love watching your video. Weird to see some place that I actually know where it is and have been to. Thank you for visiting Ghost Town in the Sky. Side note it is a mile high.

Hey dear Lesley, that was again such an interesting and amazing explore! I loved watching. A really very imaginative amusement park with quite a big range of different attractions! - The horror house was really creepy. I also loved to see that nice recreation of a western town. There the highlights were certainly the church and the big decorative hall with the beautiful richly curtained and lavishly draped stage and the upright pianos and the chandeliers. Beautiful! - Also the former roller coaster was quite impressive.
What a fascinating explore you were doing, when you and Maureno were still together exploring in the USA!
Wishing you all the best, peace and kindest regards from Switzerland. - Stay safe and stay cool, bro!
