Seeing Bob Ross as a Mii Swordfighter just reminded me of when I used a Bob Ross Mii for my Swordfighter back when Ultimate released since Swordfighter was my main. Kinda nostalgic to think about lol
Sakurai thought about whether he'd give Swordie's dair a final hit and then remembered that that Up B grabs ledge from the bottom blastzone and decided "You know what, maybe it's fine that way"
Umm actually Chakram is actually X3XX not X2XX 🤓 (But for real, I also feel that this character isn’t as bad as most say they are. I think the flexibility that comes with all of their specials is what truly brings their potential to the metagame as they can use certain movesets to fight well even against characters like Steve and Kazuya. As one of the 5 mii swordfighter mains, I approve of this message. Great video!)
I'm so glad that someone's out here fighting the Mii Swordfighter slander. One thing to note about Stone Scabbard (XX1X), its horizontal travel is deceptively long. Edge guards feel much safer with this up special because of how reliable it is. Some other combos I found with him: -At 0%, dTilt -> Power Thrust (XXX3) will put them near 30%. -At around 20%-40% (weight dependant), if you fast fall the shorthop uAir after a dThrow, you have enough time to land another uAir (full-hop). This can lead into uAir juggles. These combos make for some good burst damage. A tip for Gale Strike (1XXX): Considering how positioning is important when comboing with Gale Strike, this can be used to easily bait airdodges after they get hit. Sometimes Gale Strike will land in sub-optimal positioning, so playing mind-games can help keep the advantage. For Stone Scabbard: it's not an optimal out of shield option, but it's one of their better ones if the opponent spaces the grab range and they threw an unsafe move. It also has good reach. Just don't miss bc lag. If you're wondering what I run on Swordfighter, it's (1212) -Gale Strike -Gale Stab -Stone Scabbard -Reversal Slash I'm no expert in conpetitive, but tier-wise, he feels as good as pit/dark pit. Has some sauce, but also some noticable flaws, as waa highlighted in this video.
15:25 I always thought mii's had lots of matchup potential, since you can counterpick your opponents with the same character. Maybe one day we'll see a Swordfighter win a tournament with all (most) movesets!
You hearted my comment on the community post mentioning this already, but I love to see this attention on my first ever Smash main. Swordfighter still holds their own special place on the roster for me
The most untapped part of all three Mii’s potential is the ability to make the character look like an outlandish monstrosity to add an intimidation factor to the character. It’s far too often that I find Mii fighters playing as Guest C who clearly don’t understand the true potential of their facial features
Welcome to Smash, a Fighting game where a character with unreactable burst movement options, non-committal and versatile projectiles, that can customize its moveset and has some of the best aerials in the game, is contender for worst character. 14:22 Also, this is SO CLEAN
Alright sick video. Quick tips for maining random based on what I know. The random selection resets if you exit to the red smash screen where you choose to smash, special smash, tournament etc. I don’t know if it’s different for everyone but the least common random characters are most of the top row, doc, toon link, diddy, bowser jr, maga man, pac man and a few others but mostly characters introduced in smash 4. Unfortunately no Mii’s in random but I think you already know that. I can’t speak about the dlc cause I don’t own any but I’d practice the characters introduced in ultimate and the swordies for the best coverage using random.
I really like how some of swordie's specials synergize with each other, which is something Brawler doesn't have that much (lots of his specials are GOOD ofc, but not cuz they lead into each other well for example). Nado > Hero spin is an easy example, but Shuriken and even Blade counter also combo into it (tho you need to counter a very weak hit like a connecting multihit for BC to combo) At certain ranges, shuriken combos into gale stab and even PT as well, which is an insane kill confirm if you get used to hitting it in the right position
Thank you so so so so so much, I know 5 minutes in that I this in the kind of video I’m gonna rewatch tons of times as time passes. Great critical analysis, editing, script, and best of all, creativity. The smash community needed this.
Ah Mii Swordsman. After playing Monster Hunter World with some friends, I decided to emulate playing that in smash with the Rathalos armor using 2213 because I loved using insect glaive (Stone Scabbard as descending thrust + Light shuriken as bug) and lance (Gale stab and Power thrust to immitate the charging with the lance). Later found out some Mii swordfighters were saying it's becoming meta. Though how much of that is true I dunno since there's so few Mii swordfighters. Anyways, 2213 is some of the most fun I've had. Like playing Lance in Monster Hunter, you are just non-stop attacking people and they just cannot run away, but you also have the shuriken to add pressure so they have to do something to be vulnerable to your stab/thrusts. Love the hyper aggression of this moveset, buuut I'm afraid it could become repetitive. Maybe I will pick him back up. When Sephiroth got announced, I decided to "troll" by using a Sephiroth Mii Swordsman before he was playable. Got him into Elite Smash day 1 using 1221 trying to emulate Sephiroth's moveset. Definitely one of the easier characters that I got into elite smash. 'course, I'm pretty sure there's massive matchup unfamiliarity, and he has a lot of sword moves borrowed from other swordies so he was easy to pick up (even if he feels weaker in every way at a glance). Definitely feels like Mii Swordfighter is their own unique character for sure though! So tempting to pick him up because he's definitely one of those characters that I know no one else will use. More so than any other character I love to play. Sure people might test out Joker, Sephiroth, Ridley but they never really play them for long once the "ooh shiny" effect wears off. Then I rarely see people even touch Meta Knight, Lucario, Mewtwo, or Marth. Mii swordfighter though? Nobody plays him at all. I see people play even Corrin before people play mii swordfighter.
@@TuesdayTastic I mean, you're no ordinary smash player = ) It's been fun watching you as you go through the various characters to see your perspective on them. As I will probably never leave my character crisis in Ultimate, just like I couldn't in Smash 4 ^_^" Anyways I'm just impressed you've made it this far already. I feel like so many people would've given up, or just be lazy about it by now. You have a great mentality from what I can tell, good on ya!
Mii Sword you would expect to be more like Marth but he plays more like a discarded draft build of Link. Instead of mostly zoning with a sword, you're going in for close-range options, grabs, and tacking on pressure with projectiles?? Aka, what the other 2 Miis are already specializing in? I don't get this design choice
i picked this character up recently and man hes so fun, i got a swordfighter thats a chain chomp head with black knight armor named BlackDeath with gale strike, chakram, skyward slash dash, and the thrust down b, he's a really fun character with some cool combo strings and kill confirms definitely a super underrated fighter
Airborne Assualt moves Mii Swordfighter at the same speed as his Dash Attack, but covers a lot more distance. That plus the move's slight delay is enough to trick people into thinking you're doing a different move instead, and get punished by the huge damage and knockback it has. Airbone Assualt can send you into freefall if you don't use another attack immediatly after it ends, but you can just use it again to keep yourself stuck in the air if you need to. I use Airborne Assualt for recovery off stage and mixups on stage and it works suprisingly well.
I was ecstatic when I learned that Mii Swordfighter was a low tier, it made me realize how impressive my journey to be #1 in my friend group actually was
I'm A mii swordfighter main and i can confidently say the arguements these pro players are making for his unviability is straight wrong. ''Bad Mobility'' Mii swordfighter airspeed is top 20 in the game heck its even faster than MII BRAWLER'S and his ground speed isn't even that bad '' Low Kill Power'' Suddenly realizes his up air, back air and down air landing hitbox are all viable kill moves with forward confirming into ground moves. Hero's Spin, Stone Scabbard off stage, Power thrust all smash attacks kill at acceptable percents. ''his zoning is unreliable'' No its not? Smash Chakram escpsically at high percentage is a incredible move zoning move and off stage it can be used for edgeguards. Gale strike is a bit overrated but its still crazy good mainly at edgeguarding though. Because unless your up aganist careless Opponents or characters with poor mobility you likely aren't hitting the move. Unless you just have god like reads. Shuriken of Light is so underrated its insane it can help with mobility with b reverses and just in general in the air and easy to zone with. Its basicially if link's arrows traded of charge and power for speed, range for mobility, and safety. also its important to mention mii swordfighter's moveset is the most adaptable you cant zone. Then become a up close opponent become a swordie. Maybe keep chakram for combos and get power thrust or reversal slash, heck even use airborne assult if you want some mid range war. THE True weaknesses of swordfighter is not his kill power but damage racking and disadvantage. He doesn't have top tier combos ( though gale strike and chakram make formidable arguements) and all 3 of his up b's have some sort of weakness to them. Stone scabbard offers poor horizontal range, Skyward slash dash is decent but requires high optimization to weaponize fully also there is this wierd thing were you keep monentum from the direction your going with the dash meaning you cant take advantage of special for drifiting also his ledge grab is terrible. and Hero's Spin is easy to edgegaurd and doesn't go very far. but that move is crazy strong so dont be carless. In my opinion mii swordfighter is a True mid tier. not high mid tier nor low mid tier just mid tier.
gale stab is my goat i been using it since the game came out and they shadow buffed it too! if you hit someone who was standing on ledge you werent able to grab ledge and you died and then they either changed something about the game or the move and made it good to use against people trying to catch youur recovery cause now you dont die yay
@@TuesdayTastic She has so much potential as a character! If she was played more she could very likely be high tier (but that can be said for most of the characters.)

(smash 4 mii gunner was considered one of the better bottom tiers of that game though) "This move is both amazing and awful." As a Nadohead, you can say that again. also, yeah, this character has a real problem with killing. some sets can kill just fine but it does restrict your set building. like if you want to use hero spin for its kill power but you still want an actually good recovery you cant use chakram. power thrust is probably the least restrictive kill move special because the other down b options are more of a gimmick or matchup thing bu thrust is good in basically every matchup. also another commenter mentioned that mii swordfighters mobility isnt awful "because we have top 20 air speed" but this character's air acceleration is actually terrible (which means it takes a while to even reach that top speed) and their air friction is bottom 5 (which makes it difficult to go back the other way once youre moving a direction in the air) so in practice their top 20 air speed is a lot weaker than it seems like it would be and it makes this characters air mobility feel kinda weird and stiff. i will say that still, overall, this characters mobility isnt as bad as some people exaggerate it to be, even if it is still below average across the board. (their zoning and burst option specials are something that makes their below average mobility more workable though)
For me, fighting against/choosing Mii Swordfighter is so rare that I didn’t even know some of these moves existed honestly. And I’ve been playing the game since it came out

Mii Brawler does have flaws. Their frame data is really bad so if you can get attacks in faster than they can and are up close it can be hard for them to deal with. The more you can make MSF shield the better. Counter is something you can bait out by choosing to not attack when you normally would, or you can go for grab instead since that beats counter. I still think they are a good character but they are exploitable.

If you didn’t know either Mii brawler has some mad tippers
As a sword fighter secondary, they’re the definition of 5/10
with how relo went with mii swordie against neo yesterday at floating point 2024, I'd definitely say that its a better character than I thought
5th at a 265 person tournament is a great result! Don't sleep on Mii Swordfighter in bracket, they'll get ya.
Been in love with those rings since day one.
why are sound effects dealyed in the smash footage
Because my stream was delayed
Could you try koopalings/Pac-Man next? They are my two mains and I love trapper/zoner characters (that just don’t sit back zoning *cough * MinMin)
Pac is fun but I've got random to do next.
@@TuesdayTastic yeah I hadn’t seen the entire video before commenting lol
I’m really sorry to tell you this but your voice sounds like Chris chan’s. I like your videos and all but once I realized this I can’t forget it
