Thank you, again, Paul. I’ll say it every time - you are the most important cyclist in America, and probably the world. I truly believe that. You give cycling the good name it needs.
It’s always a good day when you wake up and see that there’s a new video from “that Paul guy.” Enjoyed the video…hoping to add this one to my “someday list.”
Awesome video as always Paul! One thing that could be interesting to see a little more about is the logistics behind your trip. It sounds like you might have just driven out to Idaho on this trip, but I remember for some of the Chicago/Wisconsin trips you mentioned taking the Amtrak up from Carbondale! That aspect always really interests me :)
Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it! I hear you and I agree. My videos are sometimes short on details. I don't want to ruin the adventure or joy of discovery. On my trip to Idaho, I drove myself to Kellogg and stayed at a motel for 4 nights to ride the CDA and the Hiawatha. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
I was on the CDA trail at the end of June with all the recumbent trikes and bikes. The Tater Tot used to be early in June but it rained too much. I’ve driven through that valley nearly every year since the late 80’s and the Interstate used to go through Wallace which had the last stoplight on I-90 before the elevated section was completed. Eventually the Washington section will be more developed and it will be a continuous trail from the Pacific Ocean to Seattle and to the CDA trail and some day to Washington DC
Great video, Paul! So thankful to have been born and raised right here in beautiful North Idaho, and we ride this amazing trail often. We appreciate you sharing your experience.
Glad you enjoyed it! North Idaho is indeed beautiful. Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
Wow Paul! Simply beautiful and amazing! I love your photography! Stellar shots, especially the wildlife! I'm stealing your "Come for the scenery, stay for the wildlife" line! Thanks too for being so frank about the lasting dangers/downsides of mining. It's an ugly truth and one that first nations everywere are left to deal with when the settlers leave.
Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. No problem, that's what ideas are for. I probably stole it from someone else. LOL! I'm an environmentalist, too. Mining does come with a cost, people should be aware. Thanks again. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
this is awesome, your in my neck of the country now. i been wanting to do this trail for years, we also have the centennial nearby which also continues another 20 or so miles from spokane into idaho. enjoy your adventures friend, thanks for the wonderful video!
I love that part of the country. Very Beautiful. I hope to get back there again and ride some more trails. Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it! Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
Hi Paul. Thanks for sharing this trail. As a native and lifelong resident thanks for visiting Idaho. Although I live in southern Idaho (Boise) I have been on this trail many times and it never gets old. Thanks for visiting “scenic” (as the license plate says) Idaho. Great video as always.
Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it! I grew up in Chicago, and I always wanted to live in Idaho. The closest I got was southern Illinois. At least I'm out of the big city. Would love to see mountains! Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
I'm not American and watching the news, movies and shows set in busy American cities it's easy to dislike America. Videos like these remind me of two things. One, it's a big and wide place, both in terms of space and culture. And two, at least some, if not most of it is enviably beautiful!
I've just recently found out about bike touring, and have decided to take it up. Finding your videos has been such a blessing and so very helpful. Thank you. I live in central Washington, and this trail is at the top of my list.
What a beautiful and interesting area. That looks like a really nice trail surface and the scenery on the western leg is great. Thanks for another interesting and informative video!
Thanks again, Bud. I have always loved the northern Rockies in Idaho and Montana. I wish I could spend mnore time there. It's a great place to ride. Hiawatha trail is next, a real beauty! Thanks again. Hope to see you soon.
I’ve been looking into doing this trail and the rest of the bitterroot 300 for about a year or two. it looks absolutely stunning. Thank you so much for your videos. You truly are the best channel on UA-cam
Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. The CDA is a great trail. One of the best. Thanks again! Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
You should! The CDA is a great trail. One of America's best. Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
Another great video Paul. We met on this trail, I believe on your first day, as I was making my way to DC from Seattle and it was awesome to meet you in person. Thanks for all of the excellent content and motivation.
Yes, I remember. I took your picture, but I wish I would have interviewed you for the video. I hope you had a great ride!! Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. Glad to have met you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
A wonderful ride, as always, and thanks for bringing us along. My wife and I live in Edmonton, and have friends in Sandpoint. Sounds like this trail has to be on our short list!
Great video, I have lived in Mount Vernon, Wa for 6 years. I had wanted to ride that trail, but never did. I now live back in Indiana. Moved back to Indiana in May of this year. Hopefully I will make that journey. On September 18h I will be touring about half of the Ohio- Erie trail. From Cincinnati to Columbus. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Thank you for highlighting this trail. It’s a gem in the Gem State. The ideal time of year to ride is September to October. Beautiful videography. Like you, I love the town of Wallace, and the western half of the trail, including the old mission, the oldest building in Idaho, the Mission of the Sacred Heart built by Jesuits. Thank you for your devotion to bike touring. If you’re in the area again, add the Trail of the Hiawatha for some rail tunnels experience. And you’re not too far from the Centennial Trail. Thanks again Mr. Suchecki. PS. I miss your hand-drawn maps. I’m currently in Pinedale on the GDMBR. A forest fire this week closed US 26 and required a drive around from Jackson Hole.
I'm more concerned with moose than bears. Moose can be nuts and don't need a reason to stomp on you. I will have to give the trail a try. Got family in Mullan and, just over the pass in MT. Thanks Paul.
Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. I was glad that the moose stayed far away, they can be unpredictable. It's a great trail. One of the best. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
Beautiful video as always Paul. Kind of crazy though to see those signs about the mining pollution in the river. I wouldn't expect that there. I thought NJ had some of the most polluted rivers in the country.

Another great video, this one has been on my bucket list for some time. So, do you still carry a tent, sleeping bag etc. If you stay in a hotel? I always think I should "just in case".
The CDA is a great trail. One of America's best. on this trail I stayed in a hotel every night and only carried what I needed for the day. Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
Another beautifully done video Paul. I put the Coeur D'Alenes trail on my trails to ride this summer. Did you drive up to Kellog, park your car and start riding the trail from there? Also, did you drive to Medimont, ride the trail and back again, stay the night and then drive back to Kellog? I'm trying to arrange it where I stay at a hotel as less as possible because I don't know if the hotel will allow me to park my car there while I ride. Thanks and I look forward to another video.
Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it! Yes, I drove to Kellogg and stayed at a motel for 4 nights. Day 1, I rode east from Kellog to Mullan and back to Kellogg. Day 2, I rode west to Lane and back to Kellogg. On day 3, I drove to Medimont and parked. I then rode to Plummer and back to my car. day 4, I rode the Hiawatha trail. Thanks again. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
No, I was by myself with my car. I stayed at a motel in Kellogg for 3 nights. Day 1, I rode from the motel in Kellogg east to Mullan (eastern terminus) and back to Kellogg. Day 2, I rode west from Kellogg to Lane and back to Kellogg. On day 3, I drove to and parked where I left off the day before and rode to Plummer (western terminus) and back to my car. So really I rode the trail twice, over 3 days.
It's always a great day when you you upload a video 👍
Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. Stay safe and ride on!😎
