  • You CAN reduce low gear in a non turbo transmission! Polaris rzr 1000xp, 1000s, 900s can get the same reduction as a XPT!
    Also must know information about bad info out on the web for rzr gear reduction.

    I do a lot of transmission rebuilds I've got 3 transmissions I'm building now. I would always replace the output shaft with a 300m while you're in there. Also like you said the retainer plate. What I do for the reverse chain is I put a highlifter reverse chain in. It overhangs a little but its a tad bit stronger and it works. Hope this helps.

    Hey Guys, good info here. I just ran into the same thing doing the low gear reduction on my 19 XP4 1000. The only difference I did is I went to the 16 highlifter shaft ( PN 3235764) so I could get the extra link of width on the reverse chain. It does cost a little more because you have to get the chain and sprocket for the reverse shaft but it was worth it while I was in there. Thanks for sharing y’all’s experience.

      Do you happen to have the parts numbers for the extra width chain and sprocket for the reverse shaft? What percentages did this method reduce yours? I have a 2018 xp1k

      @@jordanperilli6239 3235762-48t sprocket 3235633-chain. I’m PRETTY SURE these are the pn’s for the ‘16 highlighter but I don’t know the model codes exactly. Those pn’s are out of the same fiche of the 5764 highlighter shaft so I’m pretty sure those numbers are correct. Double check with your dealer to be sure!!
      The input shaft reduction reduces low only roughly 21%

Thinking about it now, if that’s a Polaris general input shaft in your video, would you be able to get your same gear reduction on an xp1000 using the Polaris general superatv double reverse chain kit with their input shaft? Wondering if this would accomplish the same gear reduction as your video and get you the double reverse chain at the same time

    You can put a High Lifter chain, that is a little thicker on a stock shaft. Just change the top gear to high lifter.

      Awesome info. The reverse chains need all the help they can get! I can’t believe Polaris hasn’t updated the 1k reverse setup to gear drive like the XPT. 🤦

      @@CrashCitySxS The weakest link on a XP. But i have been running a high lifter chain on a stock XP shaft for about a year now. we just changed the top chain gear to high lifter.

    Great video, as always very instructive. I’m from Croatia/Europe and down here i don’t have someone to ask for advice, so I was wondering if you could help me choose the right OEM gears that i need for doing a 12% reduction in L, 12% in H and 12% in R, on my 2020. RZR XP 1000 two seaters. Since i’m in there i would like to delete the Turf mode and eventually if compatible change the reverse chain to a HL double chain. The goal is to keep factory clutch with bigger tires and also a lot of added extra weight. Riding style is going fast on gravel/dirt . Thanks!

      For the gearing you’d want Polaris part number 3235380 and 3235381. Don’t forget a hd pinion retainer plate.
      Unless something is different on an international model…the 1000xp does not have turf mode. HL chain is still a single chain just has an extra link to the width. Superatv if you can get that over there has a double reverse chain kit you could put in there if you really wanted the double chain.

      Yes, the EU model rzr xp1k two seaters which is made in Poland has turf mode.
      Removing the turf mode is the main reason for me to want to open the transmission, I want to prevent the carnage that happened to my friend recently (same model and years like my rzr) where turf mode gears was the cause.
      Thanks to your video I have already ordered the HD retaining plate and of course new bearings and new seals.
      Now, like you says I need #3235380 and #3235381 for the reduction, and if I have understand well, I can put in the HL Reverse Chain without going lower in percentage than my wanted 12%?
      If yes, what would be all the needed OEM parts for doing the HL reverse chain?

    Great video. I am having a hard time finding solid info on installing 30” tires (14 or 15” wheels) for my 2015 Polaris Ranger XP Crew 900. Should I go with internal lower gearing in the tranny or smallish portals. I do not mud bog, I mostly ride trails, and plan for a street legal kit and registration…it seems a 3” portal lift with 30% reduction is too low for 30” tires. Any suggestions?

      You’re gearing is as low as you can go in the trans and is plenty low enough for 30’s. The best upgrade would be to have someone that knows what they’re doing in your area to tune your clutch. The older secondary clutches aren’t the best out there. I’d look at hunterworks website. He has a lot of good options for updating/upgrading your secondary.

      Being a 4 seat you already have the 12% reverse shaft and gear in it. If you’re going to run 32” or taller tires You could do
      3235754
      3235232
      3235450
      3235451
      Or drop low only with 3235754 and 3235232

    I have a 17xp4t that I run 35 on. I want to do portals eventually. stock clutches and motor. what and where do i get for a gear reduction/clutch kits. trail riding windrock and similar trails. would not say we rock climb but if need to would like to.

    So cracked my case on a 16 non turbo xp4. Looking at the superatv transmission with gear reduction and I believe it is a turbo style because it has reverse gear instead of chain. Is this the best option and what reduction is best? Running 33s and 32s soon(tires)

      Yes the satv geared reverse transmission is a good unit for sure. Gear driven reverse, bigger beefier output shaft and pinion, 6 bolt pinion retainer plate. BUT the only bad thing about them when talking gear reduction is that whatever % they have listed for it affects high gear. So if you wanted 38% in low-which is in the ballpark we’d recommend to you for your tire size- then high is dropped that low too which for most people will be way too low gearing for road cruising. And since their internals are custom then we can’t get in there and lower low gear separately from high-which is the best way to reduce them.
      So top speed in high might top out around 50-55 with their 38% reduction.
      We can get you a price on that transmission or for whichever direction you decide to go and save ya some $$$

    Just found you guys because I am trying to find out how much reduction I would need. I have a 2013 rzr 900xp 4 and I'm going to 30s. I have a duraclutch already. What would you suggest? I was going to put the 570 gear and shaft in it.

      That should be a pretty good option for
      You with the duraclutch. Unless you’re getting into the big rocks then maybe throw the ace gears in there.

    Ok.... Bought a 2020 XP 1K used. When I bought the unit, it already has a gear reduction kit performed on it. Found out later that the front diff is a 2016 TURBO diff with a Sandcraft "Bombproof" kit installed. I received the stock gears from the transmission with the unit. The shaft in the box only has the one fixed gear and a loose bigger gear in the box. From what you just explained in this vid. What are the chances of my transmission being a TURBO unit instead of the XP unit? The other vids i've seen you guys do on a TURBO version has the same "single gear" shaft , not the shaft shown in this video? Any input would be great to answer my question. Thanks

      If it’s got a gear reverse instead of a chain in it and the input shaft low gear is removable then you have a turbo trans. Should be a part number on the transmission case you can alsway check it that way too

      Tre transmission is geared really low. And some of that gearing is in the rear main gear and the front diff gearing. So we don’t really recommend a gear reduction for the tre. The first things we like to upgrade are 5 pt harnesses, cage, the suspension and tierods. Keep it maintained and clean and lubed up after every ride and it will go a long way. You probably will break some things as you ride, just upgrade those broken parts with good quality aftermarket parts and it will perform very well. Thanks for watching!

      Depends how you ride. If you’re crawlin and doing technical stuff the low low is the way to go. If you’re not so much in that then a low only reduction will work well. We can get ya part numbers. Polaris dealer or online oem parts place is best place to get them

      The ‘16 turbo already has 33/12/12 in it. Only option for you is another 13% in each gear. A better clutch kit would probably help you out a lot more. Do

    Gotta 2016 rzr xp1000. Running 32s. Looking to go bigger/harder/stronger. Need to get a kit together. Also how much time rub with 1.5 forward a arms and 35s?I'm in Louisville. A lot of by buddies got jeeps with 1 tons and 42s. Would like to keep crawling with them yet still ride with my buddies in rzrs. Any help sprinkled my way would be appreciated. Like your videos. Keep it up.

      Our best riding trips have been with jeeps or trucks it seems like. Or ex jeepers turned to rzrs. 1.5 forward will clear 35’s. We get a slight rub on a-arms but only when Hard in the rocks. And it’s minor.
      You’d need to go low like we are for 35’s. Can you install the gears yourself?

Just want more tire and I'm already pushing it on 32s. Will the machine still run 50 mph with the big gear reduction? I usually don't get over 50 anyways

      You can with some good clutching. Gear reduction would kits make it turn them better. Depends kinda on what type of riding you do which you could benefit the most from

    I have a 2021 XP4 1k non-turbo. If I used a 2015 XP4 1k input shaft and reverse shaft low gear for its 25/67 tooth count instead of my 31/61 teeth along with superatv’s GRK-P-RAN1K-12 idler shaft output-27 to pinion shaft input-48 could it be a 72/26/26?

      2015 input shaft has the teeth you want but will not fit your clutch. You want Polaris pn’s 3235754 and 3235232 for low gear.
      You already have 12% in it since it’s a 4 seater.
      That satv kit is 13% only. So add the low gear with the 13 to that 34/13/13 ish from where you’re at now. Compared to a two seater total combined would be 46/25/25ish

    I have a 2017 900s running 30s now I want to run 32s or 33s. I know as it is I don't want to go bigger without a gear reduction. What gears would you recommend I get? I'm currently running a Dalton clutch kit and Super ATV arched a arms I done the ones that move the tires so I can run bigger tires without Lift

    I have a 2021 xp4 1000, I would like to get a reduction, I have 32 tires on it with plans for bigger in the future. Can I reduce the gearing in just low or do I need to do them all, do you have the part numbers I could use to get this car geared lower. Mostly crawling and steep trails is all we do.

    On a Polaris RZR XP 1000 High Lifter 2022 it has to 55% gear reduction can I ride most of the trails and high range wwhitout it causing much problem?

      The trans isn’t actually reduced that low. It’s got different ring gear ratios to combine with trans. 55 as advertised is low gear only. High has the 12% shaft in it so whatever actual % is in the ring gears would be added to that. Try it and see. Your belt will tell you if it likes it or not!

      Do you have gear reduction? With gear reduction we add 1-2g heavier flyweights and install a venom orange and black spring in the secondary do the best belt grip we can get. Also use the oem helix.

    Is there a difference in the options available for a reduction between a Pro xp2 & Pro xp4?

      No. They’re same options. Both the 2 and 4 seat have same reverse shaft (3235380) which is the “12%” shaft. And both have 61t low gear.
      So only options for the 2 AND 4 seat pro XP’s
      are reduce low gear only with 67/25t low gear/
      Reduce all gears with the ace 325 reverse shaft and gear/or combine both reductions ace reverse shaft and 67/25t low gear.

    Hey we have a 2014 RZR xp4 1000 I was looking at the superatv kits for a 38 percent reduction but I feel I need to do more then just the 2 parts they sell you

      Being a ‘14 your secondary clutch is different and the input shaft is different than ‘16 and up. You could do the input shaft reduction but you would have to replace your secondary clutch with a ‘16 or newer. Then you could get around 53%ish low in low gear if you wanted.
      What size tires do you run or what’s the biggest you’ll ever run? What kind of riding do you do?
      The only thing about the satv 38% kit is that I don’t think you’ll be happy with the high top speed.

      The biggest I would ever go is 32s I’m running 30s till they are wore out then going up. Top speeds not a issue 90% of the time im in low anyways we do more crawling then anything

      @@nataleeworsencroft2003 so if you don’t care about top speed (I’m gonna guess with the satv kit it’s going to be between 55-60 I could be wrong) then that kit is a option for you.
      And I was wrong above. The ‘14 four seater has the low gear gearing in it already. Just looked up parts. You have the low gear “reduction” already in it. Your reverse shaft is a 29 tooth so you could swap the reverse shaft to a 25 tooth shaft and corresponding gear and get 26% reduction in all gears. Then factor in your low gear already has the 67/25 gearing in it you would be at the reduction everyone calls 53/26/26. Imo which the reverse shaft reduction that would be good for you. Added gains to that setup would be a Stiffer secondary spring to help belt grip.
      You would have the same reduction we have in our Rzr’s turning 35’s after just doing the reverse shaft reduction.

      This is her husband. So about what reduction do I have now? 12?? And yeah I don’t mind at all giving up top speed I want to crawl that’s what we do mostly but I’ll do both of those items plus a stiffer secondary

      @@brodieworsencroft3296 best way to say it is that compared to a two seater you have 21% low gear reduction right now. No reduction in high or reverse. The 450 451 pn’s above would reduce high, reverse and low 26%. That would put it at what they call 53/26/26. Like I said above that’s the gearing we run with 35’s and is great with them. We’ve put that same gearing in several 1000xp four seaters that run 32’s and crawl technical stuff and the feedback from them has been that it’s excellent for them.

      You’ve already got the 67/25 low gear so you’re good there. You can change the reverse shaft out for more overall reduction 12 or 26% which we’d highly recommend the 26%.       Yes. Reverse shaft and gear only reduction is available because you already have the 67t low gear in it. So you could reduce high low and reverse 12% or 26%.

      Can you count how many teeth are on the reverse shaft? I looked at their website. It’s kinda confusing but I think i understand it.
      If you have 25 teeth on the reverse shaft you’ve got the right one. You can also change the low gear sets to get an additional 21% in low gear.

      Low as you can go. As long as you’re not a highlifter you can use these part numbers from Polaris

      Add upgrade you pinion plate with a hd one while you’re in there.
      There’s options to available if you want a bigger reverse chain or double chain if you’re worried about that.
      That’s as low as you can go with out getting into aftermarket stuff which doesn’t gain you a whole lot more. A duraclutch would also make that thing a beast but they’re $$$. Thanks for watching!

      Yes 26% is pretty good for your riding. That’s gonna put top speed around 65mph

      If you’re more a hammer down go fast rider the clutch kit will help you out. If you’re more of a slower rider and do rocks and obstacles then gear reduction will help you out.
      And the bigger the tires you step up to in the future will push you away from clutch kit and towards gear reduction. Especially if you like deep mud riding

    I am looking to buy a xp1000 it has a gear reduction in it , do gear reduction out strain on the motor and trans

      The reduction will let the engine work easier to turn everything. Reduction does add more torque through the transmission but we haven’t seen any negatives from it. Depending on the reduction percentage, the engine and trans may be wound up pretty good if you’re trying to run road speeds. Ours is reduced really low and our top speed in high is 65mph at 8300rpm. I wouldn’t like running it like that for long distances. But we’re hardly ever out of low gear lol.

      @@6669bj being a four seater we would recommend the next step down to what we run. 4 seater already has the 12% reduction in it so we’d highly suggest our setup which would be another 14% lower in all gears and then reducing low gear on top of that an additional 21%.

    I have an Pro XP 2020 Two-seater would like to reduce gear ratio as low as possible in low range, what is the lowest I can go? What are the part numbers for the Gears that I need? And can I get the gears through you? And are the Gears Polaris authentic Parts or aftermarket?… your help is very much appreciated!

      We currently don’t sell any parts but people having been asking so you never know lol...we use Polaris parts as does everyone else. They may market it as there own but it’s Polaris.

      I’m assuming you have a two seater...to get 12 in high and drop low lower the option you have is a combo of parts that gets you around 33% in low and 12 in high and reverse. Or you can do 21% low only. If you change high it affects low and reverse also.

I’m running 30” xtr’s right now but am heavily leaning towards HL 4” dual idler portals and 35” xtr’s so I need the combination to work well with them also.

      If you’re leaning toward portals and heavy 35” xtr 370s I’d lower low gear 21% in the trans and then run 30% portals on top of that.
