Flywheel grinder at your local truck stop for the bed and base is the Only thing I would have gone the extra mile for, just to set off since you went the extra 100 miles. Nicely done.
Great re restoration. This drill press looked like a hopeless piece of junk, but you made it in to a useful tool again. I would liked to have seen how you rewired the drill press, but it's an excellent result. Thanks
A little bit oil and grease would have been nice while reassembling, to not repeat the whole process again the next time. Other things may also could be improved. Nevertheless excellent work there.
If you weld it's better to do a 45 degree phase on both sides so the molten mettal can penetrate deeper into the component. Anyhow nice job bringing an old machine back to live. well done!
Welcome to youtube restoration videos. Not a smidge of grease in parts, not showing if the motor runs quietly (it doesnt), horrible colour selection and in the end it runs like a dog.
I would love to see him use this to drill a 1/8 and 1/4 inch alloy steel plate. You should probably replace the motor to make it work. Every mechanical piece looks fine... except from the fact that this drill press was manufactured with parts that require a certain tolerance fit between parts. When it rusts it chews up a thin layer of the surface, and after you sandblast and polish youre reducing the fit even more. So if your machine needs a 0.0005" tolerance. Youll probably end up with 0.002" after restoration.
Not being in anyway skillful enough to carry out this type of work, it always amazes me how you remember where all the pieces go back! Love watching you do it.
These older Taiwan-built drill presses are very simple to break down and rebuild. There are literally dozens of UA-cam vids on the process, and they are all similar enough that you really can't get into trouble. You might be surprised at how intuitive it is to reassemble them. Like every skill, it just takes time and repetition. A drill press is a invaluable tool, and a great beginner project. Despite the funky handles, the fact that the table was in such good shape was a huge clue that this drill press was probably worth fixing
that thing looks solid, I wonder how much wobble you have in the spindle. The quill is much better than lets say ZX7016 as it has a grove in the quill. body Casting is a bit thin though. Still id be happy to get one like this one.
I'm about to start getting into these restorations and I'm curious what do you do for the parts that are finished to the bare metal again. Do you put any oil on the surface or no? I guess I'm just curious about it rusting again and is there something to do for that. Thanks and great work brother
Two questions, please: When you reassembled the press, it looked like you greased some points, but not others. May I ask what parts of the internal mechanism that you greased, please? Also, I love the polished surface, but what is frustrating for me is how quickly the exposed iron rusts. I've tried Johnson's Paste Wax and other sprays, but haven't found that they last very long. What do you use, please?
Hey. I have an aluminium tripod lamp. The look is of brass. It has lost its shine and has become dark. I painted it with a golden colour but I feel I have destroyed it even more. How can I save the lamp?
Watching people on these videos use their slip-joint pliers backwards is difficult. Is this just a trend to get under other folks’ skin, or do they really not realize that teeth on these pliers are cut as to only grip in one direction?
Usually in such videos do not disclose the cost of the work and the amount of time spent, if you gave at the end of a table with this data and a list of chemicals used, it would be a feature of the channel and probably would have attracted advertisers specified in the list.
9:05 maybe use an anvil instead of the pulley as a backer for flattening dents

Not a big fan of the paint job, but cool that you restored it to it's full glory.
Nice repair..as for color..it's your shop and your tools.do what you want with em.. Thanks for the video.
The result is perfect, thanks! Radek

This video should be called "Having the right tool for the job."
White and blue makes it look like a toilet with a high level cistern 😁🧡

Só Beautifulll Machine .
Indeed!
In my opinion powder coat would have been great for this project. Great job
I think so too!
The white color for the drill press is impractical. Generally, paw up.

Hard work but you did it. I enjoyed thanks
DREAM ! ON !! HAVING !! ONE !!
Hard work but very good result
Almost perfect! I'd make chamfers on both parts before welding so the weld can hold the material better!
Drill Press white ?!?!?!
Amazing very well done. Thanks for sharing that was very satisfying to watch.

you are really awesome in restoration project well done
What a wonderfull job !!
Very good restoration only one problem is the white painted parts

Not using any grease gives more rusty spots for future restoration videos and sandblasting opportunities...
@@ProtonOne11 lol true that

Well done btw.
Great job, enjoyed watching the video. And very useful addition to your workshop.

NICE !! METAL !! SHREADDER !! MATERIAL !! THIS !!
Think I would have went with a pastel ( color), VERY NICE JOB.
Thanks
I was dying to use the lathe to clean up that backbone pipe. Colours, well, it's your call.
I'm looking for the electrical part on the restoration process, wherein at first you did cut off the wires.
Not gonna lie man I love you work. It looks awesome!!!!
Thank you
Just how long does it take you to undertake a project such as this? Fascinating video. Many thanks.
Awsome restoration! That drill looks better than new now!
You guys amaze me with your skill and knowledge about all things needing restoration. Do you do a lot of research on each item? The mind boggles!!
Thanks for appreciating. Yes I do a lot research
very nice.
awesome job...i like the sandbaster..and outcome of your redtiration.

How does it work without a belt? 🙃
Nice Work👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Nice job!!
Holy crap, that's the same drill press I have!
Same here, but would it be taboo to say where it was made?
You big master👍👍👍👍
Waooooooow niec work 👍🏾
wow! excellent!! what a great job!!! congrats!!!!
Thanks
great

Excelente trabajo, felicidades

How do you remember the way to put it all back together?! If I put it back together, it'd either look like a different machine or a junk pile I made
If only there was some way to make a video record of the disassembly that you could refer to.
@@TheHoipoloi haha get I guess you could just go back and rewatch it, I'd just get really confused

BRAVO MAN THAT,S BEAUTIFUL WORK THANK I LEARNED A LOT.
Great results! I've subscribed to see more :)
Thanks for the sub!
I think I might be ruined for restoration videos from watching too much my mechanics. Nice work though 👍🏼
Sand Blaster Work Is Owesome ...Too Owesome Restorations You Did In Your Channel✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
Were the pulleys painted? If so wouldn’t that cause paint to melt from the heat of the belt turning fast and not be good for the v-belt system?
Muito bom.

I'm so Interesting your restoration for the old Drill Press and how much your cleaned very nicely.
how much it cost for this drill press ?
I did not calculate cost
Thanks I’m looking one for my shop got second hand here but to expensive recently asked a shop here cost 500g

I greased moving parts. And I have a detailed video of metal polishing on my channel you can watch and learn.

Thanks. I haven’t had mig wire for cast iron welding but I had cast iron electrodes thats why I used stick welding.
