Hi Bill, I dab a little bit of clove oil on a cotton ball and place it in the middle of my palette I then loosely tent the palette with a cloth this keeps the paint from skimming over. If I want the paint to stay fresher longer then I use a tighter fitting cover to keep the air out. Using a loose cloth the paint will stay fresh for about a week with a tighter fitting cover my paints have lasted about 2- 3 weeks. I hope this helps. :)
I have 4 dogs and I need to cover my paint so I use a French mistress. I DIY a paint garage tube that I slide my paint into and stick it in the freezer if I am not painting. You can get them on amazon’ paint garage’. I couldn’t post pics. My paint saver tube kinda smart, when it roll, it roll back to the original position and paint don’t go everywhere. If I don’t stick it in the freezer and just leave it in the French mistress, I have a little container of clover oil enclosed with it. I will email you shortly with image.
But what if i used a plastic palette and the oil painting is REALLY dry and just won't come off how to clean it off? Is there an easy way to clean it or even something i could use to soften it up ? Thank you
I want to take a 30 year old tube of dried up oil paint and use it. there must be a way.. the pigments are all light fast.. although the oil is oxidized. can't I smash them up and pulverize them and go from there.. This prick from college stole my "Artist's Materials and handbook"... just stole that and other things...art books that I got from a trip to .. seriously HOW DO YOU LIVE WITH YOURSELF!

use a solvent, like odorless mineral spirits or turpentine. remember that they are harmfull, take care.
