So lovely to see and listen to these excellent musicians I encounter when the orchestra is performing. This is exquisite... something I wouldn't have sought out but am very happy comes because I've subscribed to this wonderful orchestra's channel. Thank you. I have to applaud the outstanding production of this performance... the setting of course, the daylight streaming through, the excellent camera work and perfect sound. It doesn't get better than this.
Tora Augestad really has a new way of performing these classic songs, declamatory, expressive, intense! Her interpretations give the text a deeper meaning, I think. All admiration also to Christian Eggen and this wonderful ensemble! BRAVO!
Interesting, but you have to be very, very open-minded and forget all about Schubert to start to enjoy this. If you don't, you'll find yourself crying for the original lieds.
