Thanks +christopher adkins for the info, just ordered a No. 5 this morning from Finetools Germany this morning and getting to know the setup was real cool. Totally excited to put her to work!
Thank you very much for a lot of informations about planes that I was looking for. I am just a beginner an don´t know much about planes, so this was a good introduction.
The final demonstration didn't show the plane working that well. Also, keep in mind that continuous use of the ruler to remove the burr may cause a gap to develop between the blade and chip breaker which can lead to the plane choking. On a well machined blade, just laying it flat on a whetstone will remove the burr.
Dear Chris what model out of above range of kunz would you suggest for smoothing guitar soundboard which dimensions are 400mm*320mm and thickness around 4mm. need to achive 1.5-2,5 mm finally. material is spruce or cedar thanks a lot
16:50 I think I go with no.5. And, with regard to the prize: seems to be amidst the high end planes [Lee Nielsen / Veritas] and the cheap crap [Silverline - sorry: no offense].

Good job on the video, Chris. Very informative.

The Chip braker as you call it is the cap Iron and the last component you called a Cap Iron is the Lever cap .
Are you able to tell me how I set the Norris-Style Adjuster? I have messed it up and only get ultra-thin slices Thanks in advance
Hi, nice video on the handplanes.
Btw, what is that watch you're wearing?
Is the back of the blade already flat right out of the factory or do we have to check with some stones?
hello, how do you handle the handle?
I think he is really steep and would have to stand diagonally
With best regards
