Demi Moore herself characterised the film as “Death becomes her” meets “The Picture of Dorian Gray” meets aerobics of the 80s with Jane Fonda. But it sure has many more references and allusions like a kaleidoscope.
I kind of see a bit of her reflecting on her 90s career, plus the direction giving of a David Cronenberg vibe. Also, add in a theme about the abuse of performance/psychoactive drugs, the story having a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde tone, and the final half hour feeling like Akira and Perfect Blue mixed together.
@@WatchMitchWatchbro 😂 this movie was definitely not meant for the straights, it’s an insult to them. Literally how straight men treat women as they age.
Actually Demi Moore starred in quite a few movies in the 2000s and the 2010s. I personally loved her in Charlie’s Angels: Full throttle (2003), Half Light (2006) and Mister Brooks (2007) but it’s safe to say that her finest hour was in the 1990s. And she’s still a living legend no matter what. You’re absolutely right, she’s experiencing a resurgence right now which makes me really happy for her.
Demi was a superstar in the 80s and throughout the 90s. St. Elmo's Fire, Blame It On Rio, About Last Night, Ghost, Indecent Proposal, If These Walls Could Talk, Mortal Thoughts, Disclosure, A Few Good Men, G.I. Jane. My guilty pleasure are the movies Nothing But Trouble and Striptease. Films I recommend from the 2000s and 2010s, Margin Call, Mr. Brooks, Bobby, Charlies Angels 2, and Flawless. She has a lot of great stuff.
This is like one long Black mirror episode. I love that it is stripped back of all details. There is only 6 or 7 characters in the entire film and Elizabeth is the only one with a surname. Everyone else just has a first name. You don't even know the name of the studio who she works for.
Andie MacDowell (Margaret Qualley's mum) was also considered quite the beauty in her prime, and is a good example of aging gracefully. I can see a lot of her in Margaret.

When you commented that the string seems big, a lot of times for films they will use bigger medical supplies intentionally for a more dramatic effect. Bigger needles are of course the usual thing people notice. The best example I can give is when you see acupuncture done in films the needles are huge compared to the ones that actually get used. The ones we really use for acupuncture are so dang small that we have to count how many were used before and how many we take out/ collect to make sure we get them all. They are so darn tiny, that they take forever to find if they accidentally fall on the floor XD Acupuncture was definitely one of my favorite things to help with because you got a moment to 'sit and relax.' We got to sit with the patient and just make sure they stayed still so they didn't accidentally shake the needles out. Then make sure they all got thrown out at the end.
21:44 but it's short, just like he likes it 😭 also I'm guessing it's because she's not a young person, so she might not know what names were popular 30 years after she was born

@WatchMitchWatch From what I understand, air in the bloodstream can be dangerous, but it would take a lot more than small bubbles from a syringe. Tapping out the bubbles seems to be more about making sure the dosage is accurate, but it's used as a TV/movie trope for dramatic effect.
