Being able to record proxies wirelessly is interesting. But I wouldn’t want to deal with that. Wouldn’t it make more sense to have a wireless feed to DIT and they take care of that on their end?
Maybe. but the proxies are small enough, you just have the media wrangler dump the SD card at the end of the day. I've never had a card fill up on a shoot yet.
How's the focus assist on the BM? I've been a SmallHD fella for years because I really like their focus peaking vs colored-edge peaking. Is it similar? Thanks!

@@JustinPhillip Thanks Justin! I don’t plan on Shooting raw. I just like the fact that it’s a nice monitor with xlr ports and I can do 1080p live streams. I might use the recorder for 4K 24 fps slog 3. It supports this for Sony doesn’t it? Thanks again
how do you find having only 1 receiver with the Vaxis? i'm thinking of dropping the dimes on this kit but i'm worried that if it's tied up for focus pulling, i'll have to get another receiver for the director monitor which kind of puts the whole thing out of my price range, and the entire reason i'd be getting it would be for focus pulling, otherwise i wouldn't sweat the zero-delay and just stick with my cheap Hollyland Mars 🤔 do you run into this issue or am i overthinking it?
As a 1st AC, I would never want the proxy recording to happen on my end. This is a cause for more latency, and more problems. And more people crowding around the 1st AC station. There is a reason there are client monitors with recording such as the Atomos Sumo. Or using a PIX 240 for the scripty. Also, while someone loves a monitor, isn’t it in the best interest of production for the AC to have whatever monitor they prefer? If you blow a take just based on a crappy monitor that will cost everyone more money.
Does proxy recording cause latency? I hear for you sure, im just not at a level where production can rent better monitors. This is low budget indie filmmaking

Personally I would have like a Atomos Ninja star, or and old blackmagic deck to record proxies, if that is what you want. There’s a reason Odyssey 7Q, not Atomos Shoguns are used as professional focus monitors. Instead we use TV-logic, small-HD and so on…

I think for Sony’s, Atomos may have more features. BMD is good for Panasonic, Fuji, Nikon, Canon & Sigma fp in terms of external RAW
