Sorry, but I still didn't got what the mastering is? A practical example of mastering would be great.

Learn To Read Urdu the major difference is, when you mix a a beat alone, each sounds as it's place in the mix so, for instance, some producers will mix there drums in couple ways. Example number 1, is panning drums to simulate the audience is sitting at the drum set. So imagine where the drum set would sit in a mix with the hats more to the left and the ride cymbal being more right. The other way is mixing and panning the drum set as if the audience is an actually audience member at a concert so you reverse with the ride cymbal being to the left more and the hats being more to the right accordingly.
Ever instrument gets that same detail placement in a mix. Things like bass guitar, bass drum, 808s stay dead center. Things like pianos may be panned according to their notes on the piano. So the low notes get panned to the left more, the middle notes might have a dead center approach or (slight left or slight right) and the high notes more right.
All of the instruments have to be in the mix and beware of each other so everything has "space to breath" and to live. Hope that made sense!
Mastering is taking that entire completed mixed track and maximizing its "loudness" without distortion or clipping on the audio output. It's the loudness you hear when you listen your favorite major artist and listening to a underground artist music!
Mixing is like cooking a meal, you need ingredients (instruments) and some how you need these ingredients, herbs and spices to have their own presence in the dish without over powering each other (mixing)
Mastering is like the presentation of the food, garnish, final tasting before it's giving to the customers
Thank you so much for your questions, I hope that helped. Please like, share and subscribe to our channel

Thank you! I was looking for a basic answer and I got one. “Mastering is basically raising all the levels of the track without distorting it.”

This guy has a job and I don't?!
Mixing is simply placing each instrument in it's own sonic environment. Each track should have certain frequencies that tend to stand out or have certain qualities that are appealing. No two tracks should be boosted at the same frequency E.G.; if you boost a kick drum @ 80hz, you should cut your bass there. (Mind to keep your Q slim). You want the instruments to be heard, but it should all be tied together as well.
Mastering is not just boosting. Yes, you want to achieve optimal volume, but mastering is really about dynamics. Giving the entire piece the write amount of "ebb and flow" per se.
Typically, mixing will consist of using your equalizer(s)/reverbs/effects, and especially panning, whereas mastering is mostly done with compression and fader automation.

To be fair to the dude, it's not really how well you can explain something on the spot, it's how well you can do it.

You know, If you're explaining something to someone you shouldn't tell them you know 8 times in 1 minute and 33 seconds. Actually I don't know, that's why I'm watching this video you know!? You know!? This is the difference between being nominated and actually winning a Grammy! You know

So usually people will do their own mixes ? Is their own music . Then some people said send their file for mixing and mastering for another person, then it means they let other people to mix their music ? Kinda confuse with this

    • @Awiseway
      @Awiseway  7 років тому

Benny Damien here's the breakdown.... more experienced beat makers and producers will do there own mixing and depending on said producer, they may have taken classes or have learned how to master properly. This allows them to not have send there files out.
Then you have novice to intermediate beats makers or producers who may have an idea of how to mix but don't have the fundamentals down. So often times, more experience producers (who have mixing and mastering under their belt) may offer their services to help these producers finish and complete the project.
Also, sometimes you have artists who have recorded at their own home studio and need these services for not only the beat that they used but their vocals for a finish musical project!
We hope that information and breakdown helped understand more.
