Cheap vodka is used as a source for carbon dosing in reefing but you can buy an ethanol replacement product for aquariums for $40 a liter like I’ve been using, but the guy that owns my lfs and has a maintenance business for 30+ years tells me to save my money and buy cheap vodka. This is coming from the guy who profits from me buying the $40 liters.
Hey Bentley, Hope your good. I bought a Sicca Scuba Contactless, 300 watt heater about 6 months ago. Have had problems with connecting to cell (NFC) from day one. Sat down and tried everything as i cursed the thing. Sent Sicca a email. With in 2 hours they sent one back and a new heater on the way. Very impressed with warrantee. Do you know if there is any tricks to these heaters. Thanks Bren from London Ontario Canada
Full disclosure, John and I are friends outside UA-cam, and he certainly doesn't need me coming in here all puffy chested, trying to defend his integrity. I'm not even suggesting you did question it, but I have to say this. Yes, he does speak very highly of the Sicce line. Yes, he does sell some of their products (although not the Whale series). I believe the fact that he USES the products he sells in his personal fish room speaks more for the products than not. After all, he and Lisa make their living on their integrity and the products they sell. If they sold garbage, how long do you think they'd survive?
@@Whips_World I have a general rule that I advise of anyone. It has nothing to do with it being John and Lisa. That rule is this. If someone is selling something to you, you should inherently be just a touch extra skeptical. It's not that I think the Sicce products are bad, I think it's pretty clear that I think Sicce makes some of the best pumps out there and by that nature it makes their filters great. However, very often we will see in any business. Not just aquariums, that if someone is selling something they are inherently going to say it's good. They might put on some blinders when it comes to some of the downsides. Do I think John does this? No. That being said, I still always caution it. It's just how I am.
@BentleyPascoe Understood, and that's how I understood it when you said it. I just wanted to point out that, yes, people selling products WILL want to sell you said products. It would be a poor business decision to offer people products you say don't work. I think we're on the same page when you suggest that everyone should do their due diligence prior to buying ANY product, but history and reputation should be factored in as well. I don't pretend to know what affiliations you have with other FishTubers who also have businesses, but I find Cory from Aquarium Co-Op mirrors the same qualities as KGTropicals. Both those guys, in MY experience, go above and beyond to make sure you're happy with your purchase(s) and the products they sell. Are there others out there like them? I'm sure there are, I just haven't had a ton of interaction with anyone else. I'm still old school and purchase locally, in person, whenever I can. But, as you point out, there are certainly those out there, just looking to make a dollar. Selling as much as they can, as fast as they can and then moving on. So, yeah, your advice is solid. Trust is earned, not given. John has earned my trust.
I had to replay crew it tonight, my friend and I were busy installing a couple of massive glass panels...woot! 😊
glad you continue the test....fish and food as that the practical application.
Dang. If you choose to pick up in store, you get another 20% off that canister and it becomes only $80!
Too bad I don’t need another canister…

Id like to see the more organic route but kind of scarifice the fish which sounds bad but if they survive treat them like kings the rest of their life
👍♥️👍
Guppys are easy mode. Cuz Nature is gonna Nature. This is science! Get the ethanol. Or add leaf litter. Start the ecosystem from the ground up!

@@brena4856 I have not tested them so unsure, you might try asking kg tropicals as John and Lisa have more hands on time with them

I’m sooo late to the party 🫠
It wouldn't be a useful experiment if you didn't learn anything.
