Nice build quality but a pretty hefty price increase here in Thailand for this model. Strangely enough the 12 Pro is better priced. Both too close to Samsung prices to consider however. Xiaomi is/was good at making premium midrange phones such as my current Mi 10T pro. Hoping they continue with a nice 12T or something similar.

I just got my first Xiaomi last year a mi11 lite 5g ne and I love it. I'll never go back to a Samsung or even a Google pixel which used to be my favorite. I've already lined up a deal on the 12 and I can't wait to pick it up. I'm a Xiaomi customer for life now.
Have you gotten your 12 yet? I was intrigued by the small size but I'll only make a switch once it's time to replace my Pixel 5, so if there's a small 13 or 14 I could end up going for one of those instead. The Pixel 6 series getting locked by anti-rollback on Android 13 and the Nothing Phone's supposed poor repairability is pushing me towards Xiaomi.

The customization options are endless. It even has a double tap on the back to silence notifications comparable to the alert slider on my old OnePlus 10 Pro. The battery life is excellent as well.
I still have my Xiaomi note 10 until now for 2 years and I don't have any issues about my phone. The quality is great and impressive! Hope to buy this new phone this year.

I find it pretty funny how nowadays we call phones with screens over 6 inches "compact" when just a few years ago something with a screen like 5.5 inches would be called a "phablet" lol. It's kind of sad how there are no real alternatives to an iPhone 13 mini and taking the Xiaomi 12's battery life into account I don't think we'll see the alleged Xiaomi 12 Mini anytime soon (unfortunately). Unless it has some serious compromises, that is.

@@paradajzisnicla it's not about just easiness to reach every part of the screen, it's also how pocketable it is that makes a phone compact. Also when we hold the phone, we do support the bottom of the phone . if we only hold it by the side, i can easily reach every corner of a 6.3" display
I just noticed the speaker grills on the left hand side. Left handed friendly smartphone. Nice one. You can just rotate phone to use it on landscape mode without covering the speaker grills without feeling uncomfortable. Since we always face bottom part of device to dominant hand. - problems I got when I play on my device. Just like right handed people feels when handling left handed tools.
Simply due to the size, this is easily one of the most interesting phones of the year. I like the look on the back too, pretty refreshing. A solid phone! Wise conclusion and once again nice review!

An eventually update can fix the life battery issue?? I mean, 82 hours endurance is a shame for a smartphone with 4500 mAh and 6,3 FHD display. I'll wait for your response because I am very interested to buy this model but the issue with battery makes me think twice
67 watt charger will help you maybe? I still use 33 watt charger and it's help me about the battery issues I think 66 watt charger needs 15 minutes only to get 50% of battery
Only a careless user would say that not having IP protection is a deal breaker lol. I having been using a Asus zenfone max pro M2 for 3 yrs. now and have not experienced a single water issue. When it's raining, i cover it up or not use it at all 'til it's safe; used small amounts of alcohol for sanitation. Just experienced Typhoon Rai last december and still good. How? Easy. Wrapped it in plastic and put in a bag. In a beach or pool? Kept a distance away from it, and tucked it insde a bag when it's time to go swim. Nothing special, just common sense.

@@mhmdd3 it adds complexity in manufacturing which increases cost and decreases yield rates. It is harder to refurbish or repair compared to flat displays. It catches light and reflects ot to the user regardless of how you hold the device which means you pay extra for inconvenience/nuisance. It is more prone to breaking in case of an impact as the edges are exposed. The aspect ratio of phones these days is already stupidly narrow at 20:9 - 21:9(most of the big youtubers create videos in 18:9 or 2:1 aspect ratio which leads to artificial bezels on the device anyway) and curved edges make it even more pronounced. FPS gaming is a knightmare on device with curved edges and rounded corners. Good luck finding a good tempered glass screen protector that fits well and stays on. It is harder to make good cases for such devices and rugged cases makes it even harder to work on the edges of the device. Some pedantic shortcomings. You loose some screen real estate with rounded corners and the curved edges are in almost all cases harder to work with meaning there has to be extra padding for content where a 6" device is essentially a 5.4" - 5.6" device. CONVINCED YET?
Disappointing review on the video camera side. I mean thats all people care about mostly. no mention of the fps ranges in the different HD size formats.. now where does one get info on that?
@@TheRomanian. I'm sorry the pro version has 10 bit (1 billion) but to be fair, that's just marketing. You can only see difference between 8 and 10 bit in certain occasions when you're working with professional photo/video editor. The average consumer can't even see difference between 8 and 12 bit, it's technically not the same but practically is. Do not expect a more colorful eye-catching display because of 12 bit, 10 bit is the same.
I suspect it is as water resistant to those with an IP rating but Xiaomi are reluctant to make it official as consumers still do not really understand what IP ratings mean, that is not for taking in the bath, sea, swimming pool, shower, etc. By not giving a rating consumers are less likely to do stupid watery stuff with their phones. Hopefully waterproof phones will eventually come that will allow these.
Someone knows if the distance sensor works? Xiaomi fucked the new phones with a simulated sensor wich not work, and make ghost touchs while the phone is in the pocket.
Besides curved screens making the phone look better it makes using swiping gestures easier with or without a case. On my flat Galaxy FE I always felt my thumbs touching the case before the screen when swiping. UA-cam influencers complained about curved edges and Samsung inexplicably switched to flat screens on the S phones and now they're cutting production because they're not selling as many.

We should also consider the bezels. the old phones had much bigger bezels and was wider. Still I'd also like to see a iPhone mini sized Android phone.
